I second the Miele S2 best vac I ever owned. And it’s very lightweight. Easy to carry upstairs.

Second the Melie. Best vacuum I’ve ever had. The Shark Navigator was way too heavy/bulky for me.

I have one of the cheapest ($400ish). It’s the S2, I believe. It’s best for hard flooring and very low pile carpet/rugs. If you have thicker pile carpet to deal with I would recommend going up to the mid range priced Mieles that can handle the thicker carpeting. I personally don’t think the highest priced Pet branded range is worth the cost. I’ve had up to 15 cats home at times, and found the lowest priced Miele to be more effective on fur and litter than any of the high priced Pet Vacs I’ve tried. All Mieles have the exact same suction power across all lines, which is the most important factor in a vac’s effectiveness. Also, the bags last a long time, so I don’t find the cost of bags to be an issue. Edit to add: the Miele is one of the lightest weight and quietest I’ve used as well.

Worth every penny and they last forever. These things just don’t break! Many people get a good 20-25 years out of their Mieles. And if repairs are needed they are usually fairly easy and inexpensive. I’ve had mine 7 years and nothing has broken/no loss of suction whatsoever. Love this thing!

I was looking for something for my all hard floors, multi cat & dog, multi kid house and after wasting money on Shark, Dyson, & several Bissels & Kenmores, I finally sprung for a Miele and it is the best vac I have ever owned. Because I have no carpeting, I bought the S2 Classic series, which is the cheapest vac they sell ($400). It’s just for hard floors and very thin throw rugs and it is the most powerful, quiet, and lightest weight vacuum I’ve owned. I’ve had this one for 6 years now and have had zero problems with it. The vacuum bags look tiny but they take a long time to fill up so the replacement bag cost is very reasonable. I’m not careful with this thing (I’ve accidentally dropped it down the stairs a few times) and I use it multiple times a week, and it’s still in great shape. I’m also a housekeeper, and I bring this vac with me to my clients’ cleans because it’s just that good. I highly recommend the S2 Miele.

No. Overpriced, too heavy/bulky, not ergonomic, breakdown easily. I’d rather use a cheap Shark over a Dyson. Miele vacuums, however, are well worth their hefty price tags. Bags are an added cost, but don’t need to be replaced as often as you’d think, and their vacuums last forever. I’m a housekeeper and my Miele is the best vacuum I’ve ever used. I’ve tried nearly every brand and style out there. Can’t recommend them enough. Edited to add that I used Shark for a number of years until I could save up for a Miele. A Shark is a decent vacuum and MUCH cheaper to replace than a Dyson.

I bought the cheapest bagged corded vacuum from Miele that could be found in 2010, it is still running perfectly. Now most of my appliances are Miele.

A lot of people on here work in vacuum shops, either managing them or as technicians repairing vacuums. We are all telling you that Shark / Dyson are garbage and you have to spend a fair amount to get a decent vacuum that will last you 4+ years. If you have all hardwood floors or some very low pile carpet, get a SEBO K2/E2, or a Miele suction only model. If you have carpet that is fairly high pile, you are kind of forced to spend a decent amount for a E3 or K3 type vacuum. If you don’t want to spend that much, Kenmore makes some halfway decent vacuums like the Intuition or Pop N Go that are fairly affordable with an electric head. I don’t know why most of your replies to people are you arguing with people whose literal job it is to work with vacuums about what is good and what’s not.

What’s your budget and flooring? If you have any medium to high pile carpet you’ll have to spend a little more, but if you have hard wood/low pile carpet you can get away with a suction only Miele or Sebo K2/E2 that will last you 10+ years

If you’re spending 800 on a Dyson just spend that on a Sebo or Miele and you’re good for 10+ years lol

Wow, that’s an amazing price for a Miele. Our first one was a small basic model that lasted over a decade but needed a new cord that was almost as much as it cost new 20ish years ago. We replaced it with a top of the line model and that was around $1500 maybe 8 or so years ago. I want to say the updated version of it is now $1800 which would be $2000, give or take a bit, once sales tax is added. Someone could literally fly to Germany, buy a vacuum, and fly back with the box being checked luggage and it would still be cheaper than buying it here. It’s not tariffs though, it’s been the same price for at least two years with little change.

Miele S series bagged vacuums are one of the GOAT imo. Ours has lasted years and if you buy generic bags, upkeep is a minimum

A straight suction Miele can last 20 plus

water does not filter very well as bubbles pop and unfiltered dust shoots through, get a miele or Sebobagged vacuum

You’re in the states we have rainbow water Vacuums until the last 20 years when they put HEPA filters on them they had a horrible filtration. I have a device that I can test that with. sorry I meant until they put the HEPA exhaust filter on them. They were very bad filtering.

I’m not sure what brands you have in Europe and I was thinking of a canister style Miele or SEBO

I’ve sold Miele for over 25 years. I’ve never seen that before. Why don’t you just let them give you another hose

If you get a Miele that won't happen
