Sebo got the x4 pet and x7 upright every part is user replaceable, they last years.. 6 litre dust bag we use them in domestic care homes. Henry a simple vaccum sturdy enough but not good on deep pile carpets, plus if u forecful the hose comes off if henry is stuck around the corner. Dyson crap plastic useless.. Miele had the older revolution 5000 series cylinder wat a hoover you can use a powered head and it acts like a upright plus u can get the car kit set to use.. Mine lasted 15 years the powered switch failed miele wanted £150 ... ouch wasnt worth repairing it

Say what you will about the V15 Detect, but I swear it picks up more than my corded Miele S550 does.

Well for starters, the white star isn't 12 years old. It's closer to 20. It would have been discontinued sometime in the 2000s. In fact, you could ask for a picture of the model number sticker underneath and it should have the year of manufacture on it. The white star, while a great vacuum in itself, is suction only. It only came with an air driven brush head originally, and wouldn't be a good choice for medium and deeper carpet piles. Unless somebody has added the electric hose and electric power nozzle, it might not be suitable for some of the homes you clean. And $250 is steep. Maybe with this information you could talk them down some.

Any miele or sebo cylinder would be a great choice. Either can be optioned with a dedicated hard floor brush with no brushbar, no wheels even. And the cylinders themselves have soft rubberized wheels. Best all around option for delicate hard floors.

Sebo or miele if you want something high quality which will actually last 15+ years and be repairable should a part wear out. They have high performance and filtration standards. The shark is fine for 3 to 5 years with decent performance. The dyson, being cordless, you should only expect 2-4 years. And it won't have the performance of the others unless used on it's highest but shortest runtime mode. Kinda comparing apples to oranges here. If you need something immediately the shark is probably ok, but if you want something to last definitley go check out miele and sebo.

I have a Miele Capricorn canister. It is awesome! Worth every penny. No issues after 15 years! Great brand! Bought from a local vacuum store.

I bought the cheapest bagged corded vacuum from Miele that could be found in 2010, it is still running perfectly. Now most of my appliances are Miele.

Miele S series bagged vacuums are one of the GOAT imo. Ours has lasted years and if you buy generic bags, upkeep is a minimum

A straight suction Miele can last 20 plus

water does not filter very well as bubbles pop and unfiltered dust shoots through, get a miele or Sebobagged vacuum

You’re in the states we have rainbow water Vacuums until the last 20 years when they put HEPA filters on them they had a horrible filtration. I have a device that I can test that with. sorry I meant until they put the HEPA exhaust filter on them. They were very bad filtering.

I’m not sure what brands you have in Europe and I was thinking of a canister style Miele or SEBO

I’ve sold Miele for over 25 years. I’ve never seen that before. Why don’t you just let them give you another hose

If you get a Miele that won't happen

When we got rid of carpeting in our house, with only 1 area rug and some throw rugs left, I bought a cordless Dyson upright, and a Miele hard-floor canister. The Dyson can be used on rugs or hard floors, and has good attachments for furniture, drapes. The Miele has a very large hard floor attachment that fits under most furniture, as well as good attachments.
