We have had ours for 3 years now and it is holding up great.
I have used both corded and cordless vacuums over the years. The dyson stick vacuum was a jump start to grab n go vacuum around the house but now I find myself using a cheap but powerful corded vacuum all the time around the house. Nothing beats the suction of a corded vacuum. The vast majority of vacuum advertisements is for battery powered vacuum but the best vacuums are plugged in. A shop vac for example can suck up anything that fits in the 2.5 inch hose. Vacuuming a car with a shop vac is very satisfying especially when it sucks up tissues wrapper junk rock etc.
I have a Milwaukee lawnmower that works incredibly well. Takes two 18v batteries that are small but weigh considerably more than most stick vacuums. Milwaukee makes a shop vac that works well but the batteries alone can cost $200
I have all DeWalt 20V max cordless tools, so I bought the DeWalt cordless shop-vac even though reviews state that it’s not great, and that the Milwaukee is better. I kinda wish I’d got the Milwaukee and a set of batteries for it, because I’d agree that the DeWalt is not that great.
For small jobs where I’m drilling holes and have drywall dust, I use a small Black and Decker rechargeable made for home use. It’s rechargeable but not with interchangeable batteries, so you really can’t use it for a bigger job.
