Depends what you mean by best. Dyson are really fragile and don't last long. Mt BIL had a side hustle whilst working at Euronics making and selling Frankendysons from all the broken ones that were brought in for recycling. The owner is also a bit of a dick but, there is nothing on the market that will clean a carpet as well. Henry and other Numatic vacuums are indestructible. They are basically an industrial shop vac for the home. I use Henrys bigger brother George as it also includes a carpet shampooer that I use in the car. They don't have very good suction though. Others like Miele and Shark are reassuringly expensive and do a decent job but, they are not as good at cleaning as Dyson and not as long lasting as Henry.

Henry- heads etc are easy to replace if you need to. You can swap out the filter for odour neutralising. There’s a pet head. You could go for the direct animal model. George is a wet and dry hoover, and we have had one, but these days we have Henry and a Bessel carpet cleaner specifically for washing the carpets. Worth stating that most hoovers will fail to completely pull hairs up and so it’s useful to also have a rubber brush, or a window squidgee. You will be supposed at how much hair those things pull up

Numatic George. Not cheap but it’s a 15litre capacity regular vacuum and a wet vac/carpet/upholstery cleaner. It’s also quiet.

O have a George that does wet and dry clean. But it’s so heavy and wired that it’s a real chore to use it. So I also have a Dyson that’s cordless so that if I want to do the vacuuming in the kitchen quickly after a meal it only take 5 minutes and no setup.

Numatic George. Hate the mess of bagless so went for a George over a Henry to also replace the kitchen mop as George is wet and dry.

It's not much of a faff but if you wash the floors regularly you'll probably want a dedicated machine. I needed to save space and wanted to have something adaptive for hoovering, washing the hard floors, washing carpets and dry and wet in the car. George can do it all. The only annoying thing is he is a tad heavy and moving him up and down the stairs is not something for anyone unable to lift stuff. The only annoying thing about switching to wet is being in a hard water area the spray nozzle gets clogged so I have to unblock it every time. The great thing about ANY numatic machine is how compatible the attachments are, an ancient Henry or other model can use the brand new attachments and bags. Plus Numatic sell spares, including replacement switches etc.  The only exception is the new Henry and Hetty Quick, they use their own attachments. I serviced an old Henry Hound, needed new internal contacts. Got a kit off Amazon, simple to install just a few screws.

Very very few machines do that. Usually, they end up being pretty bad at one job or the other. Numatic George technically can do that. It's like a cross between a canister vac, shop vac, and carpet washer. While it has great suction, as a vacuum its pretty bulky and loud. As a carpet cleaner, it's very clumsy and takes a lot of effort to use. It's large, has a lot of parts to store, and takes time switching from one function to the other. No machine can switch between those functions on the fly. Best approach is to budget for a separate good vacuum and separate good carpet cleaner.

r/VacuumCleanersIf there was one Vacuum Cleaner that you could bring back from being discontinued and sell on the market tomorrow what would it be?

That'll be a blue George! They used to do them all in every colour. They changed the wheels in June 2003, and although I'd say their quality did go up and down after that, they did exceed the early 2000s models with the mid-2000s Henrys. The issues only really came in with the 160 imo.

That's why I'd get a George, wet dry vac, use it as an indestructible dry vac until I need to get fluid up

Henry for home, George for work. Numatic hoovers are built to last, powerful and made in the UK too. What’s not to like.

Thats a good option but id rather invest in a numatic George (they're like 900$ but will probably outlive you if you take care of it) so you've got shop vac shit and a carpet cleaner
