I sold Rainbowss. The issue it puts water vapor in the air, dirty water vapor. I now have 4 vacuums (roadside pickups. Three are BISSEL and they all work great. Jst keep them clean, like wash everything periodically. AND buy spare paartss, like filters etc. can't stress this enough. To buy, try Marketplace.
Having a vacuum expel fresh air at every vacuuming is the selling feature of rainbow - disagreeing with the "filter will be dirty" statements as our filter on e series stayed white/clean after 5 years of use so removed it (yes cats and dogs)! Mom has this e series but does take very good care and long term rainbow owners as well. The problem is where to dump a half gallon of debris filled water!(i use an 1984 rainbow with large water pan) Not wanting the sewer line to plug nor having to scour out toilet again - outside dimping is the easiest answer but it does pile up using the same spot everytime and is an eyesore. My current home is too small to set up and tear down a rainbow daily. A Bagged hepa vac is my daily driver typically.
Rainbow E2 Black. Their wet vac functions are so handy and they have a good amount of power. They’re very serviceable. All parts replaceable. Sealed system H13 filtration. Quiet. Makes the house smell really good as they filter primarily with water. House kind of smells like a fresh rain, outdoor smell after using it. That sold me.
Kenmore canisters for carpet are very good. For hard floors, they’re awful. Obsolete. Deal breakers. Etc. Why not buy a refurbished Miele or Sebo, or if you have wall to wall carpet in most of your home and rarely use attachments, definitely go for a Kirby, or a Rainbow if you have a mix. Goodvac dot com for Kirby parts, Rainvac dot com for Rainbow parts. Miele parts and Sebo parts are easily accessible. Hyla parts are not, in contrast, but they too last a long time. I think they’re easier to use than the Rainbow but they don’t clean carpet very well at all. Kirby is about the best you can get for carpet.
100% would recommend. I have NEVER and I mean NEVER used another vacuum that even comes close to the suction power that dyson has. I got the one linked below two years ago (or very very similar) - yes it was around the same price and I would buy it again and again. The only issue I would say is make sure your rug is firmly stuck to the floor because it WILL suck it up. It's that powerful. I've tried multiple shark professional vacs and rainbow E2. They simply do not compare. When using the wand it will pull everything up to a 1 foot radius around it. Perfect for animal hair and very easy to keep clean with a washable filter. [https://www.dyson.com/vacuum-cleaners/uprights/ball-animal-3/complete-gold](https://www.dyson.com/vacuum-cleaners/uprights/ball-animal-3/complete-gold) ETA: I have three dogs and a cat and this vacuum is the only thing that can keep up.
Rainbow, you can often find used ones on eBay.
It's a wet dry. It has crazy suction. We had a toilet pipe break, we were able to suck up all the flood and suck enough out of the small area of carpet. All it needed was some fans. No mold. Hubs has allergies, all the dust and dander gets caught in the water reservoir, not back into the air. I have a robot vacuum for daily stuff, and a Dyson cordless for quick touch-ups, but I pull out the rainbow several times a year, especially during pollen season. It's a beast.
I have two GSD, females, 9 & 10 years old and I grew up with German Shepherds. I have a Royal, (Kirby), and a Rainbow water base vacuum. Rainbow is expensive, but will last 30 years, no joke. My mother had one for 36 years. After 36 years, my dad took it over and used it in his garage. I bought a used Rainbow from E-Bay 17 years ago. It works great on dog hair. Great suction! Good luck.
If you're truly serious about your cleaning, there's only one hoover that I know of that catches most of the dust and it's the water based Rainbow hoover. It's not very much talked about given the very high price point but it's the best purchase ever. We've had it for around 15 years now with weekly use.
Rainbow is a good but bulky (and pricey) vacuum. It has a carpet shampooer and a smaller vacuum head attachment (for chairs n smaller things) you can purchase. Also doubles as an air purifier.
I'm a vacuum enthusiast and refurbished two Rainbows. I can confirm that filling the basin with water, emptying it mid-vacuum and then cleaning the basin and water separator after each use is a pain. I prefer to grab my Sebo and get the job done without any hassles (changing a bag is not a hassle). The E3 is the sweet spot in the Sebo canister lineup, its portable enough to carry upstairs and if your stairs are carpeted it will tackle that job too. I recommend the handheld turbo brush for upholstery and carpeted stairs and an upgraded bare floor tool like the premium parquet or the turn and clean style parquet brush.
Once upon a time I had a Rainbow! It was AMAZING! However, at $1.1k only if I would only buy one again with an FSA/HSA card and pay in 24 months at 0% APR in a sales tax free state.
