Yeah, when I moved to another state last year I left the $80 upright with my roommate because she has carpet and my new house doesn’t. And that meant I could justify buying a new Riccar canister. They’re both quiet and lightweight, easy to maneuver. And yes, the new canister was $$$.

Riccar. Boo to all canisters because they are clunky… cord, canister, hose. Ugh!

I have the Miele C3. You won’t be disappointed! This was my second Miele vacuum - I wanted to have one for the basement and another for the main floor. Absolutely buy it for life! I bought a Riccar vacuum in 1998 but sent it with my son to college 4 years ago but it is still going strong. Make sure to take it in for service periodically. I pay about $100 for service in the US. I just had the brush rotor replaced on my 2008 Miele upright and it made a world of difference!

Riccar for carpet, Dyson V8 for the rest of life. Guaranteed.

Riccar or Miele. I've had both, currently have a Miele, and once you step into this range of vacuums you typically won't be satisfied with lower end models abilities. Amazing suction, independently powered brush heads, multi-stage HEPA filtration, etc. Not sure what model the other user that had Miele had, but mine is super well built, but that's expected when spending $1200+ on a vacuum.

I’ve had two Dyson animals and both have broken and are not repairable. They are not good vacuums, but they have great marketing. If your town has a vacuum store go there. (They hate Dysons too.) A good vacuum is expensive, but you’ll never have to replace it. I’m saving up for a Riccar or a SEBO. My sister has a Riccar and it is a dream. Never thought I would say that about a vacuum.
