Riccar - R25 Standard Clean Air Upright Vacuum

One shark had electrical problems no parts it was done $250 gone after 2months. Another was owned for 9 days and was 4 years old….. brand new. This one was shooting sparks out of the motor directly into the HEPA filter! Vacs are sitting on pallets for years coming from Asia and they begin to corrode and break down from sitting. Do not buy internet or big box store. 3. Go see a local dealer, this is your best bet to not get ripped off. A vacuum is an important appliance that you interact with and must work well and take a hard usage. It must be dependable and serviceable. Like a car it needs regular maintenance and love. Most importantly you must be able to service it and get parts. 4. IMO Riccar makes the best vacs out there, the R25S is 399 at a dealer. Good luck, stay safe.

The Riccar R25S. Go to a local dealer. Best vac out there at $399. Parts available and serviceable for the next 20 years. Kenmore is not Kenmore. Same is true for all other except Sebo. The R25 is a better design than Sebo upright.

You are correct about the lack of quality and reliability in Dyson today. The Riccar 10S or the R25 series will exceed your expectations at a great price. Se local dealer.

Real vacuum dealerships will not sell Dyson any longer. Many other traditional brands either because those companies have decided to produce in Asia and change designs super fast. It is the OPPOSITE of sustainability, it is planned obsolescence at an incredible level. Vacs should not be bought online and a big box stores, these machines do not clean carpet/air, are designed to fail, can’t be serviced and are literal fire hazards. Man the stories I can tell you about “brand new” machines. Most were manufactured years before they reached the consumer. CAVEAT EMPTOR. Dealerships sell quality machines, built to last, serviceable, at great competitive prices, with warranties that do not cost extra. You can’t find service like that anywhere! Find a dealer and buy Riccar or Sebo.

Never consider Shark. Bagged is best. Riccar is top of the line if you’re willing to spend. See a local dealer.

I speak from experience. I experience many vacs daily. Bagless all leak. The brush rolls are weak at best. Shark puts out models with no or very little support. The bagless vacs are designed to be replaced in 5 years. Bagged especially Riccar and Sebo are designed to last 20 years and create a MUCH cleaner space than any bagless. Shark and all bagless can afford advertising and reviews because it costs nothing to make the trash they sell. See a local dealer, learn what it takes to be a real vacuum.

I like the Riccar R25 Standard Clean Air upright vacuum cleaner. HEPA filtration, self adjusting nozzle, wood brush roll, on board accessories (crevice tool, dusting brush/upholstery tool), hose with 11 foot reach. Riccar vacuums are quite durable and serviceable. This machine weighs 18.5 lbs., which is pretty light for a full-sized upright.

This is EXACTLY why I went with the Riccar R25S over some of the other vacuums recommended in this sub that were at a similar price point—because it has a button to change the brush roll setting between carpet and hard wood floors. If I have to switch out parts, drag around a canister while managing a hose (I get that’s not a big deal for some people but it is for me), or add any extra steps to the cleaning process… our house will be vacuumed less. I’ve learned not to put obstacles in my own path. We’ve got four cats, we need the simplest and easiest way to keep our house clean. And I’ve been so happy with this vacuum too! The filters really work to keep dust out of the air, the fur attachment works great, and the bags last forever.

They only assemble a few vacuums in missouri, mostly imported parts, the r25 was a direct Chinese import, now Vietnam as I just looked at one, prolux same thing

- Full Sealed-system HEPA filtration with *cloth* disposable bags - The more, the better of > Airflow (CFM) & Suction (Inches of Water-lift) - Manual Carpet Height Adjustment is ideal but not always necessary (depends on carpet & rug types) - Serviceable/Repairable - Reinforced Chassis and Parts - Rubber Wheels! (Quiet, non-abrasive) - Adjustable Suction for certain types of rugs / carpets (again, carpet-dependent). - Weight distribution - most of it should be at ground level to make the vac feel lightweight - Long power cord - On-board tools, hose, etc Generally the most-preferred upright vacs are the Riccar R25 Series models, and the Sebo Felix. I think the Riccar is a better value but Sebo’s quality is awesome.

They fixed some of the issues with the R25. Circuit board is one.

I don't have the turbo or the Intuition. I have a Riccar upright and then I bought the BC4030 canister. You might send a message to Kenmore to see if the canister attachment works on the Intuition, but I'm betting it doesn't.

It sells for $549 if you buy from a Sebo dealer. And it's worth holding off in order to go slightly above your budget. If you have a dealer that carries Riccar you can also look at the R25 line. It's not as good of machine as the Sebo but is much better than the Dyson or Shark.

The Sebo Dart is a great vacuum for carpets and the brushroll is removable without any tools to make removing hair wrap easier and faster. The suction is very strong and it's quieter than the average vacuum, but not as quiet as the best canisters. Just about any corded vacuum will clean carpets better than a cordless vacuum. The downsides of the Dart & Felix are they are top heavy, they have a short hose, and they don't include an extension wand. Alternatives all have tradeoffs. The Kenmore Elite upright is much cheaper usually around $250-300, it has great suction and carpet cleaning, but it's heavy and you need a screwdriver to remove the brushroll. The Kenmore isn't as well-built, and it won't last as long. The Riccar R25 and R27 are good upright vacuums too, the R25 Standard and R25 Deluxe can be $449 & $499. The Riccar R25 has a long hose and good suction, but it isn't as well-built or as easy to maintain as a Sebo Dart. I think the Sebo Dart is the best balance of durability with a few tradeoffs of a few less features.

We have a Riccar, which we got from the local vacuum shop. It’s a bagged model and it plugs in, but it’s fantastic. Best vacuum I’ve ever owned. It was between Riccar and Miele for us, and we preferred the Riccar. We also have a Shark stick that we use for spot cleaning. It’s definitely not as good.

Pricey but the last one you’ll buy is Riccar upright, bag. Best system out there.
