I'd advise against it. I bought a Dyson Ball 3 about 2 and 1/2 years ago. Motor died unexpectedly a few weeks ago, and while it's technically still covered under warranty after 5 failed attempts in getting it repaired by their customer service, I just recycled the unit and went to my local vacuum store and bought a Riccar R25S after a demo and I was very impressed. Unit was about 499, so in your range. People here tend to lean towards Sebo or Miele, however I think for the price I got the Riccar for, it was a fair deal. If I wanted to spend a couple extra hundred I'd have gone with a Sebo

#1. Bagged 2. Caveat Emptor- It is like the Wild West out there. Lately I have customers with brand new vacs (bagless) that are 4-6 years old when I look them up. One shark had electrical problems no parts it was done $250 gone after 2months. Another was owned for 9 days and was 4 years old….. brand new. This one was shooting sparks out of the motor directly into the HEPA filter! Vacs are sitting on pallets for years coming from Asia and they begin to corrode and break down from sitting. Do not buy internet or big box store. 3. Go see a local dealer, this is your best bet to not get ripped off. A vacuum is an important appliance that you interact with and must work well and take a hard usage. It must be dependable and serviceable. Like a car it needs regular maintenance and love. Most importantly you must be able to service it and get parts. 4. IMO Riccar makes the best vacs out there, the R25S is 399 at a dealer. Good luck, stay safe.

See a local dealer. If they are too far, check Riccar on the web then hit me back. Riccar is best by far. BAGGED ONLY.

r/VacuumCleaners • It is time for a new vacuum cleaner, and now that I am almost 40 I will not be buying it from Walmart. Suggestions?! ->

1. Bagged. Bagless crappy brush rolls leave 60% of the dirt in the carpet. 2. Caveat Emptor- It is like the Wild West out there. The Hepa exhaust filter is a Hepa filter placed after the motor. It’s the final filtration and it also catches carbon dust from the motor. Rarely a few vacuums have the Hepa filter before the motor and some only have a basic filter after the motor. All 3 I listed have a good exhaust filter/post motor filter. The Kenmore Elite is a good budget choice. There’s the Riccar R25S that’s a decent choice but they start at $499 and at that price the Sebo Dart $550 is a much better vacuum.

I love mine, got it about 2 months ago and it’s the best vac I’ve ever used. I now prefer it over my bagged Riccar which I bought years ago, after going down a Reddit rabbit hole on vacuums.

Not surprised about the rug. You need raw power to effectively clean a rug like that. Sebo G-series upright. Riccar upright. Etc. Almost any premium level upright will accomplish this task without issue. I prefer Sebo’s quick change rollers for dog hair homes though. Makes cleaning the brush extremely easy. Canisters will work too but most folks don’t want to deal with dragging or carrying a canister around. You tend to get a little more filtration this way. If you want cheaper box store brand, a Shark Navigator/Apex type with duoclean and powerfins. Know these are more plastic and prob won’t last as long as more premium brands. Find a vacuum dealer near you. My local shop markets with the brand name Oreck. They have lots of floor models you can try before you buy. One of the important aspects to check out is weight. Is it comfortable to whomever will be operating it?
