I have a bigger rigid shop vac and it sucks like a.... well it works great. Gotta make sure you keep those filters clean or it'll suck like a..... well it won't suck that good. 

I have the same one and I put it up against the local.... Anyway the shop vac was better.  I mean it won. 

This is honestly the real only correct answer in my eyes as well. Last you forever, accessories are great, plenty of power, great bags and filters which aren't an arm and a leg. The extra hose kit makes this feel almost like a remote vacuum as you can drag the hose all over the place. I swapped to one of these and later bought one of these as a gift for someone else and they still tell me how much they love it.

I absolutely love my rigid, I've had it for 20 years and still going strong.

This is the best bang for your buck. You get a decent shop vac plus all the tools you need for detailing including a hose extension that is a luxury you do not want to live without. I'm pretty sure rigid vac's also have a lifetime warranty.

I just picked up the rigid 4 gal shop with with the auto detailing kit attachments for $100. I was using a battery powered hand held shark vac before and the difference is crazy especially as someone who has multiple dogs. I’d recommend it if it’s in your budget. Comes with multiple nozzle attachments and the vacuum itself it’s pretty small and on wheels. I was able to easily reach both cars in the driveway while it was plugged into the garage

I have the rigid and it works great.

I got it specifically for its size and portability. For big jobs, I use the big, corded Ridgid vac.

In my experience if you’re going corded, Rigid are probably the best shop vacs I’ve seen. I have a couple of the corded/cordless combo Dewalt vacs that are really handy for small stuff on the move but if you want a bit more power go Rigid

Either one will need to be emptied and cleaned after each use, otherwise they'll stink. In terms of not leaving wet trails in your wake, you need to use a squeegee tool. The good ones use 1.25"-1.5" connectors, you'd need an adapter to use one with a consumer shop vac. Personally I would skip the Ego and buy a cheap Ridgid wet/dry vac for this sort of job.
