I have a bigger rigid shop vac and it sucks like a.... well it works great. Gotta make sure you keep those filters clean or it'll suck like a..... well it won't suck that good. 

I have a Rigid 4 gallon that is light and easily moved around. Cleans the house, basement, car and garage as needed. It is a wet/dry vac but I only use it for dry.

I have the same one and I put it up against the local.... Anyway the shop vac was better.  I mean it won. 

This. Have had a Ridgid compact 4 gallon for nearly 20 years and still going strong. Filters are still available everywhere, wonder if Bauer will still be around in 20 years

This is honestly the real only correct answer in my eyes as well. Last you forever, accessories are great, plenty of power, great bags and filters which aren't an arm and a leg. The extra hose kit makes this feel almost like a remote vacuum as you can drag the hose all over the place. I swapped to one of these and later bought one of these as a gift for someone else and they still tell me how much they love it.

Dyson. It has the built in wand that extends for u to reach just about anywhere. Basement - Ridgid shop vac 4 gal is the sweet spot unless u need something larger. Dyson’s are crazy expensive. I buy Dyson certified refurbished from Dyson on eBay
