Love ours. Even upgraded to the whisper series. It’s nothing special in terms of a cordless vac, nothing to complain about either. What sets it apart is the fact that I have a dozen batteries ready to rock at any time.

Eh, it’s definitely quieter which is a plus for dogs or napping kids, but it’s not like I notice a major difference in power or anything. I’m no vacuum expert. We were happy with the original, but when part of our original broke, after some back and forth with Ryobi, they sent us the whisper model in its entirety, rather than just replace the broken part from our original, which we would have been happy with. So is it worth the upgrade? Probably not, to the average Joe like me, but it’s been nice for the QoL upgrades they made. Hope that helps!

Old thread, but adding my experiences. I have had this model vacuum for about 12 months now. It gets used most days and takes 2 of the full larger batteries to clean our whole house, which is a combination of carpet and floorboards.  Pros: lightweight, good suction and comes with plenty of useful attachments. Makes me much more likely to get the vacuum out than using a corded one.  Cons: The wheels on the main head (the biggest one) are flimsy and both broke off within 9 months, and shortly after the motor smoked in it and burnt out.

I like mine. It's easy to charge unlike the Dyson i had before by just sliding it in the dock. With my Dyson i had to push up into the charger and then down into it's resting position. A minor inconvenience but annoyed me personally. I haven't had it die on me yet because of that but knowing that I have extra batteries around to swap it when I'm cleaning the whole house gives me piece of mind especially on its highest setting. The swivel attachment that covers multiple angles is nice too.

Used to work at Ryobi and was one of the engineers for that Vac. I like it, it's way quieter than any other vacuum I've used, which is nice because the sound of vacuums annoys me. If someone in your house/pet has long hair you will have to periodically cut the hair off of the roller bar, but it's much improved from the previous model. That one will be much better than any from the prior generation.

My whisper double roller is basically useless after about a year with it. Will try to do a comprehensive disassembly, but despite clearing the bin and filter core after every session it struggles to do anything.

Got one recently. I am happy so far. Haven’t used it a ton but it did a good job cleaning up after Christmas. My feelings are based on wood floors. have not tried on carpet.

I got mine with the battery hack so I paid $100 for it. It’s not the best vacuum ever but it’s good enough to supplement our corded one and having plenty of batteries is worth it over comparably priced ones.

I had the previous model and this new model. Overall quite happy with it. It is our soul vacuum cleaner for a three-story house with several kids and animals. That being said, be aware that the roller bushings can trap hair. They'll just continue to trap more hair until the motor draws enough current to start overheating batteries and will eventually melt the roller ends. Ask me how I know LOL.

I really like mine. I’ve owned the brushless one for around 2 years now: using it every day. I had to replace the bottom gasket on the tank because I lost suction. Also the filter needs to be replaced or washed otherwise it smells. Got my brother one for his B-Day and it no longer stands vertically on its own, I think one of the tabs broke. It’s a good value if you already have Ryobi Tools/Batteries!

I've got the one in your posted photo. The one that came out early/mid 2024. It's a significant improvement over our Dyson V8 or V10 (somewhere in that range). Picks cat litter up on first pass, which is haven't had many vacuums do. It doesn't like Christmas tree limbs over an inch or two long, but I suspect none would due to tube diameter. It eats batteries on highest setting, as stated in the documented run time (meaning, it runs as long as Ryobi says it will on given setting/battery combo). As others said, corded vac isn't the same thing for comparison, but for a cordless go to vacuum, it works very well on LVP and rugs around the house. I highly recommend it!!

Bout this kit for $200 on Black Friday. I have two for two different house and a friend has a third. They all do great on hardwood/tile. The suction is great as well as run time. It is not the greatest on certain carpets; as it sucks the carpet up and gets stuck. It’s my favorite Ryobi purchase and I use it almost daily.

(Cat tax so you know what I'm fighting against) https://i.imgur.com/63nMIQd.png I know everyone loves stick vacs, so I can say the RYOBI Advanced Stick Vacuum is my favorite with an excellent dual-brush system, great suction and filtering, and it uses the RYOBI One+ battery system that their tools use so spare batteries are plentiful and relatively inexpensive compared to other non-tool battery systems. https://www.ryobitools.com/products/details/33287218516 BUT!!! Not even my RYOBI can beat the pure furbusting power of my 22-year old Hoover Windtunnel Cyclonic. No stick vacuum can TRULY compete with a GOOD fullsize vacuuming job by a machine that has enough weight and force to properly agitate the carpet fibers and break loose dirt and hair. Plus they have MUCH larger capacity for hair and dirt storage, which you emphasized.

As an American home owner, I have a lot of Ryobi cordless tools, so when we shopped for our first stick vac I thought it made sense to get theirs to share the batteries. Nearly a year later I've had it with the stupid thing. Performance is adequate at best on hard floors and downright embarrassing on carpet. Nearly ever seal and gasket on the stick portions and the canister have torn or failed. I've kept it limping a long with 3D printed TPU seals. Now the brush head is having electrical issues. RYOBI has been out of EVERY part for months and tell me every time I ask they don't have an ETA and try to order later. Lesson learned. Avoid these things like the plague. The cordless market is so saturated it's overwhelming. Id like something that can be adapted to use Ryobi batteries, but it's not a deal breaker. Any suggestions where to start my research? What brands actually have good performance, reliability, and parts availability? Sub $500 preferred, but willing to flex a bit

It was great for about a month, even if it had lackluster performance. Maybe the other low tier models are magically better, but engineering/design and support are so poor. Coming from someone deep in the Ryobi ecosystem, avoid their stick vacs at all cost.

I’ve had the Advanced/Whisper for about a month now. Got it used for very cheap, and it had clearly been abused a little bit. I changed all the filters, and it’s been performing well. My girlfriend is a vacuum snob and loves her corded Shark, but stick vacs (in general) are super handy for quick cleaning sessions and maneuverability. I’ve found this vacuum to be ALMOST enough to be a primary vacuum. It does respectably well on carpets. It doesn’t suffer from too much “scatter” on hard surfaces, where vacuums will fling debris around. It’s not perfect at that, but I’ve seen much worse. I have a split level house, and plan to add a second Ryobi vac. I considered the “high capacity” model because it’s typically cheaper, but it’s hard to pass up on a second one of these vacuums. The weight is a touch high, because it’s so too heavy, but the cleaning head is what really puts it over the edge for me. Removing the brushes is SUPER easy, and you can empty out the entire head very thoroughly and quickly. I’d lose this if I got another model. CONS: -weight is a tad higher than most would like, but still useful on stairs. -button layout will lead you to accidentally turn it on/off sometimes. -battery life with 4AH HP is only like 8-10 minutes in high setting. Upgrading to 6AH will add weight that (in my opinion) makes this model slightly annoying. If one wanted to use this vacuum to do an entire house, I would suggest a pair of 4AH batteries.

I’m switching from Ryobi to another brand after having several tools break over the last year. That being said, I just purchased another Ryobi stick vac to replace our Dyson in our home. Out of anything they produce right now- they got this one right.

Still have issues with small pieces breaking in the joints where you can remove the stick/extension. Once those break, it becomes loose and has small air leaks:(

I have a similar designed upright vacuum like the bissell, but it is cordless and it did not have the best filtration. I ended up getting a [Ryobi 18v](https://www.bunnings.co.nz/ryobi-18v-one-hp-stick-vacuum-tool-only_p0657566) one as I can just swap the battery (but not integrated dock for charging). I have a Hoover Allergy 7011PH for deeper cleaning but sometimes, its great but I can't be arsed dragging the cord around.

I think you should be able to buy an extra battery for most of the name brand stick vacs. I’ve had stick vacs that died after 10-15 minutes and ones that are more like 20-30. I also have an old Ryobi stick vac and something like 10 batteries (acquired for other tools). Sadly, that’s my least preferred and mostly relegated to the garage.

We use them or did in a commercial application. They work awesome when they work, but at least for the years we’ve used them (stopped in 2022) once the break your sol. You couldn’t even get replace hoses for the base or the rush roller. The brush roller would heat up and fuse itself to the base. I will say this though, if under warranty they’ll send you a new one. After that you’re back in the no parts available category. We have a pile of 4 of them now.

Same here! I had a similar experience with Dyson, felt like I was paying for the name more than performance. I switched over to a Ryobi stick vac too since I already had their power tools and extra batteries, and it’s been so much more convenient. Being able to swap out batteries instead of waiting for a recharge is a total game changer

Totally get what you mean about Dyson being the Apple of vacuums, super sleek, but not always worth the price tag. The whole closed ecosystem, expensive accessories, and all that kinda turned me off after a while too. With Ryobi, I love that I can just use the same batteries for basically everything in the garage

Oh wow, I had no idea Ryobi’s parent company owns Hoover! That totally makes sense now with how the battery platforms are kinda converging. I’m all for it, honestly, being able to use the same batteries across a bunch of tools and my vacuum just makes life so much easier. I never understood why Dyson stuck with the “sealed unit” concept when battery tech has gotten so good.

r/vaccuumcleaners might have some good tips, although in the past I asked a similar question there and a bunch of people were like “just make using the bagged vacuum easier!” Because a bagged and corded vacuum is, undeniably, the best quality and most long-lasting style of vacuum. But I’m with you, I needed a more convenient vacuum because the best quality vacuum suddenly plummets in effectiveness when you can’t bring yourself to use it. I ended up with a Ryobi 1+ pet stick vac. I tend to hyper focus when I do start vacuuming and sometimes I enjoy vacuuming for like a while, getting into all the nooks and crannies, so I wanted one with a long battery life. The Ryobi model I went for came with two decently long lasting batteries, and I feel like a vacuum by a tool brand MUST be pretty durable. It’s been a few months since I got it and so far so good

What's missing is the cordless Ryobi stick vacuum that you can pick up at Home Depot for $199. Wirecutter rated it just under the Dyson stick, and for a third of the price? I have two, and they pick up enough stuff that at first, you go 'Wow!', then you go 'Eeewww' because you realize all that stuff has been on your floor all along.

We have a Dyson V6 that we got on special YEARS ago, still working. The brush is a bit worn though so I have one coming from Aliexpress for not much $$. Keep an eye on specials. I'll replaced it at some point with a Ryobi as if you register it, you get 6 years warranty. Being a stick vac makes it about 10000% easier to be motivated to vacuum compared to a drag around vacuum. Granted the suction won't be as good, it's a worthwhile compromise IMO.

I have the HP+ one and it does good for daily cleanings. On hard floors it can "scatter" the debris around a bit but mostly picks it up. I hear this one does that better due to the roller style. I also am only using single roller and I do love it. Killing a battery is easy to swap as I have 3 6ah HP+ batteries I've accumulated. It makes me want a Dyson since it does so great and I hear those are best except the battery but it does so good as is I think this whisper series wouldn't be bad either. I'm bad at linking stuff but there is a YouTube channel that did a stick vac comparison and it really highlighted the weekspots of the Ryobi one I have. Maybe this one would be better.

The Ryobi is the best 18/20V vacuum on that list, though. The Samsung and Tineco *might* work with an adapter (they're 21.6/24V, so FLEX and Kobalt batteries would work), but the Dyson, LG, and Shark are 25.2/28V and likely would barely run at all with Ridgid 18/20V batteries. Also, the Ryobi is $100. The cheapest vacuum that beat it in Project Farm's video is the $300 LG. That's more than "a little more", it's triple the price.
