I had a corded vacuum that broke and I fixed it myself three times. I have 1 dog and 1 cat, and I'm slightly allergic so vacuuming is a Must. After the corded vacuum broke a fourth time, I got myself a cordless, 3 pound vacuum with a replaceable battery and replaceable rollers (it has double rollers since hair/fur gets tangled and I wanted something that could handle it). I love it, and it makes cleaning really fun. If you are interested, I got the Ryobi High Capacity 18V vacuum with battery and charger. Life changing and I know it'll last because it has replaceable batteries that you can recharge and the double rollers are replaceable so in the future I just get more when it inevitably breaks.
I'm pretty dazzled with my Ryobi pet vac. Nothing to adjust when going from hardwood to deep shag area rugs and it takes up so little space. Literally no dog smell exhausts from it either. For a third the price this thing is superior to my Miele pet canister and includes a light which the nearly $700 vac didn't have.
We have a Ryobi 18v stick vacuum and hard floors. It gets used everyday to suck up our border collie’s fur.
I tried a Dyson once and was thoroughly unimpressed. Not only are the batteries trash but the suction was garbage. For those fucking price tags stay as far away from Dyson as possible. That said, I now use a Ryobi 18V stick vacuum *only* because I already had a bunch of 18V tools so I already had the batteries. The suction is solid and the battery life is pretty decent. It’s a well designed machine albeit a bit heavy. If you don’t already have Ryobi gear something more conventional is probably prudent.
my ryobi pet stick vacuum it works great and its cordless
r/vaccuumcleaners might have some good tips, although in the past I asked a similar question there and a bunch of people were like “just make using the bagged vacuum easier!” Because a bagged and corded vacuum is, undeniably, the best quality and most long-lasting style of vacuum. But I’m with you, I needed a more convenient vacuum because the best quality vacuum suddenly plummets in effectiveness when you can’t bring yourself to use it. I ended up with a Ryobi 1+ pet stick vac. I tend to hyper focus when I do start vacuuming and sometimes I enjoy vacuuming for like a while, getting into all the nooks and crannies, so I wanted one with a long battery life. The Ryobi model I went for came with two decently long lasting batteries, and I feel like a vacuum by a tool brand MUST be pretty durable. It’s been a few months since I got it and so far so good
