I'll second the Ryobi stick vac. Just beware, it eats cords and socks for sport.
[stick vacuum](http://ONE+ HP 18V Cordless Pet Stick Vacuum Cleaner Kit with 4.0 Ah HIGH PERFORMANCE Battery and Charger https://share.google/7ld7OfDJhDu4i6VoX)I bought this one. It came with the battery and charger. I have Ryobi shop vacs so I have several batteries. I really like almost all Ryobi stuff but was disappointed with the leaf blower I bought.
I question how fixable these Ryobi Stick Vacs are - there are very few teardown videos (mostly older models) and aftermarket spare parts, unlike DeWalt but DeWalt doesn't make home vacs (they make shop vacs, which I have the DCV501LN which is excellent). Family has the R18XSV9 Pet Stick vacuum with the R18XSV3-FH3 beater bar/motorised head unit. After about (less) than 2 years, the head's hose tore from repeated flexing. Pretty poor quality hose really. Couldn't tape it as the Y shaped plastic encasing made it inaccessible. Even worse, there is no official replacement for the hose, and Ryobi claims the head is a consumable (which is why there are no spare parts for it apart from the rotating brushes). A new replacement head is 1/4 the price of the vacuum, which is really stupid when one of the cheapest parts of the head is prone to early failure, leaving the head unusable. I quite like the replaceable batteries, but I wouldn't quite recommend them to anyone. Perhaps I'd change my mind if more fix-it videos come about or Ryobi starts providing more spare parts and instructions to replace parts. I am glad that when I was shopping for a shop vac, I did not go for the RHV18X and went with the DCV501LN instead.
I got a buddy to print this for me, and it works great on the model PBLSV716 [3 D printable vacuum mount](https://www.printables.com/model/440020-ryobi-one-hp-18v-cordless-pet-stick-vac-wall-mount)
Like a few people have said here, Dyson really isn't what it was! Ours died a year or so ago, and we replaced it with a Ryobi stick vac. You would think I am getting a commission with the way I go on about this vacuum to people! When we got it, I vacuumed the same carpet that I had been doing regularly with the old vac, and got two full tanks of dust out of it. It's crazy powerful, rolls around beautifully, and is just sensibly made. Little things, like you can pop out the rollers to get hair out of them, and you can clean the filter with no hassle. It just feels really well made. In retrospect, it makes sense that a tool company would make a good vacuum cleaner. The biggest win though is that the batteries are separate, you click them in and out like in Ryobi tools. The thing that tends to die in stick vacs (in my experience anyway) is the batteries - so the ability to just get new ones, I'm hoping, will extend the life of it. We've had it for about a year now, and had no issues with it. Can't see it dying anytime soon. I will say it is heavier than the Dyson was, but it's not been a problem. It rolls smoothly, and it can stand up on it's own, so I only notice the weight when I am taking it up the stairs! Love ours. Even upgraded to the whisper series. It’s nothing special in terms of a cordless vac, nothing to complain about either. What sets it apart is the fact that I have a dozen batteries ready to rock at any time.
Eh, it’s definitely quieter which is a plus for dogs or napping kids, but it’s not like I notice a major difference in power or anything. I’m no vacuum expert. We were happy with the original, but when part of our original broke, after some back and forth with Ryobi, they sent us the whisper model in its entirety, rather than just replace the broken part from our original, which we would have been happy with. So is it worth the upgrade? Probably not, to the average Joe like me, but it’s been nice for the QoL upgrades they made. Hope that helps!
We have a Ryobi 18v stick vacuum and hard floors. It gets used everyday to suck up our border collie’s fur.
I tried a Dyson once and was thoroughly unimpressed. Not only are the batteries trash but the suction was garbage. For those fucking price tags stay as far away from Dyson as possible. That said, I now use a Ryobi 18V stick vacuum *only* because I already had a bunch of 18V tools so I already had the batteries. The suction is solid and the battery life is pretty decent. It’s a well designed machine albeit a bit heavy. If you don’t already have Ryobi gear something more conventional is probably prudent.
