I get it. I have owned a couple of Dyson’s… one was a canister bought about 20 years ago and one was a cordless bought about 8 years ago. I kept the Canister going for 8 years but had to replace more than a few brittle plastic parts and it was held together with Epoxy at the end. The cordless battery didn’t last 6 months and I had to replace the canister assembly within 30 days. The clear plastics are simply very brittle in my anecdotal experience. Also have a Miele that was once dropped down the stairs and still works like new. It is 10 years old. I appreciate the convenience of cordless. I actually don’t see bagless as a positive. They objectively release a lot of contaminant’s into the air when emptying. Sure you can empty it outside… but having to go outside every time you use it is not convenient. With a good bagged vacuum, the bag helps filter the air and the bags last a long time. The holy grail for me would be a good bagged cordless vacuum with swappable batteries. We bought a Samsung Bespoke Jet which is pretty close to the ideal… but expensive. Bagless but has a charging base with a bag and filter in it that automatically empties the canister without any dirt getting into the air. Much more quiet than the Dyson, feels better made and includes two swappable batteries with a charger on the base for the 2nd battery.
r/BuyItForLife • These are the most recommended vacuum cleaners on Reddit (r/VacuumCleaners VS others) as of Jan 2025 ->I have a lower end Miele as my main vacuum and have had it for 10 years and it is like new... however I did supplement with a Dyson cordless for awhile and it went through a battery every year and I had to replace several broken plastic bits on the cannister.... also those make a mess when you try to empty them..... No cordless vacuums are BIFL.... HOWEVER we did get a Samsung Bespoke Jet cordless vac 2 years ago and I love that thing. Pricy for a cordless but it is way better quality than the Dyson and has a charging base that also contains a vacuum/bag that sucks the dirt out of it into a bag... so completely mess-less. It also has two batteries that can be swapped in seconds like a power tool. The second battery mounts to the dock in a second charger. It is also quieter than the Dyson and the Miele.
r/BuyItForLife • I analyzed the 25 most recommended vacuum cleaners on reddit ->Somehow it doesn’t translate to doing well in reviews…. And again it is expensive… but I think it is the perfect stick vac. Having to dump. Bagless vacuum canister in the trash is a huge downside which it solves. Easy change batteries is another nice to have that at least should contribute to longevity.
r/BuyItForLife • I analyzed the 25 most recommended vacuum cleaners on reddit ->I bought a V15 last year and thought it was quite powerful. But the power head broke within 2 weeks and replacements were out of stock. So I returned it and got a Samsung Bespoke Jet. The Samsung is strong enough on the min setting to do a quick touch up of the house (mainly pet hair pick up), which results in a long run time of about an hour. The combo head does not need to be switched when moving from hard floor to area rugs/carpets. The charging stand that comes with the unit will also empty the dust bin. For me, my reason for getting a cordless vacuum was for the convenience to do quick touch ups without dragging out the canister vacuum, and the Samsung fulfills that better than the Dyson.
r/VacuumCleaners • Is there a affordable alternative to the Dyson V15 vacuum? ->I bought a V15 detect late last year. The green laser with the fluffy head worked great for pet fur on hard floors--better than my canister vac. But the combo power head broke within 2 weeks. Could not get a hold of Dyson service. Replacement power heads were out of stock online. I was not interested in a $900 stick vac that only does hard floors, so I returned the whole thing to Costco and bought a Samsung Bespoke. Found a stick on green laser on Amazon that works decent (though not as good as Dyson's). I will never again buy another Dyson.
r/VacuumCleaners • Whatever you do - never buy a Dyson ->Bought one two weeks ago and I fucking love the thing. I can also command it start the emptying process remotely to freak my partner out when she's working from home. That's a huge plus for me.
r/australia • Vacuum Recommendations? ->I have three dogs and have bought numerous vacuums trying to find the right fit. The best one for us has been a Samsung Bespoke Jet that has an all in one station. It is cordless and empties itself into a bag. Keeps all the dust and dander down. It is easy to use and I use it almost every day. I also have a Dyson animal but only pull that out about once a month - if even that. I love my Samsung. Wish it had a light on the head unit - but my Dyson doesn’t have a light either. The samsung was pricy but it is by far my favorite.
r/VacuumCleaners • Purchase Advice: Cordless vacuum for a small apartment with pets ->We have been through a few Dysons, I’m blow away by how much better the Samsung bespoke does. We don’t even have use our full size Dyson animal anymore.
r/greatpyrenees • Best vacuum to purchase when you have a Great Pyr ->I have 2 pyrs and love my samsung bespoke vacuum. When the vacuum gets full, the dirt and fur are suctioned into a bag that is in a charging dock. When the bag is full, I open the dock and replace the bag. The included tools work great on furniture and the cars! It's pricey, but I got it on a really good sale.
r/greatpyrenees • Best vacuum to purchase when you have a Great Pyr ->My dyson has been relocated to the workshop. Use a samsung jet in the house now. Still not as good as a miele but it's convenient and works.
r/newzealand • Briscoes sale - vacuum cleaner recommendations please!! ->The LG CordZero and Samsung Jet are regarded as great alternatives to the Dyson V15. Many offer 2 batteries and a charging stand for less than the price of a V15. I believe there are a lot of features on the V15 that are showy but do not improve the performance like the particle sensor and laser. You could get a Dyson V11 for the similar cleaning performance as the V15 but without the more expensive screen. The Submarine mop attachment on the V15 is not comparable to regular vacuum/mops, the Submarine does not vacuum and mop at the same time and it doesn't suck up any liquid, it just rolls it up. What kind of flooring do you have? If you have mostly carpets I would recommend cordless versions of upright vacuums like the Hoover Onepwr Hepa+/Oreck Cordless and the Simplicity Freedom/Riccar Supralite Cordless. These are battery powered versions of upright vacuums that have much better carpet cleaning than regular cordless stick vacuums like the Dyson, LG, and Samsung. Also don't buy any Sharks, they're terrible, they break, and they're unrepairable.
