"If you're cleaning a lot of hardwood floors, I would not do Sebo uprights as they don't have a brushroll shutoff"
100 bucks or so, I sold thousand of those , my fav
SEBO x4 or G series bulletproof and easy to work on
People like them but we had plenty of issues with them, this one made in Vietnam now, make sure you have a dealer near you, or just buy a Sebo x4, I've sold thousands for combo surfaces
This past fall I had two gals trade in their SEBOX4 that they purchased from me over 25 years ago, they just wanted the new color on the X7, the X4 just does everything well including last a long time
Sebo is most of my business so that!
Of course she will get conflicting views here. SEBO if you have the money as well worth it if not, go with the Kenny.
Or the only other quality Vacuum is the SEBO you can tell them that you want one of those instead
As a small vacuum business myself, I would be happy to switch it out for you, if you feel better, call them ahead of time. Tell him what happened and you decide to go with the SEBO
They are having issues with their new SEB O and they are upset, these things are very rare, but they do happen
Windsor/Sebo as good as it gets, what is breaking?
We recently got a sebo x4 to replace our second dying hoover. It feels super high quality and we are pretty happy with it. Our only complaint is that we miss being able to shut off the brush because it makes the floor warm where it sits when using the hose attachment.
I just got a SeboX4 and absolutely love it. Took advice from everyone on here. Walnut Creek vacuum will give you 25% any vacuum they sell. They have Melia vacuums to. I got the X4 for $620 everywhere else is 850-900
Sebo Automatic X4 or X7 with the softer brush roll (green bristles)
Id recommend a Sebo or Miele. I have the Sebo automatic x4 and it’s been really good for cleaning up dog hair on different surfaces. You can find some good options [in this thread](https://www.reddit.com/user/Working-Hawk-1982/comments/1n9ngu9/the_best_vacuum_cleaners/)
The X4 is an excellent machine. It’s maneuverable and fairly lightweight. You won’t have any issues.
Sebo got the x4 pet and x7 upright every part is user replaceable, they last years.. 6 litre dust bag we use them in domestic care homes. Henry a simple vaccum sturdy enough but not good on deep pile carpets, plus if u forecful the hose comes off if henry is stuck around the corner. Dyson crap plastic useless.. Miele had the older revolution 5000 series cylinder wat a hoover you can use a powered head and it acts like a upright plus u can get the car kit set to use.. Mine lasted 15 years the powered switch failed miele wanted £150 ... ouch wasnt worth repairing it
We stopped carrying the x7 because the x4 does a much better job on hardfloor. X7 is terrible for hardfloor in my opinion, though it can do it. Never going to sell it if you don’t show it, so I understand them starting there. But also, if a customer comes in and says they want to look at specific models, you show them and usually should start out with those! Regardless this feels like an unusual experience overall. Definitely an odd experience with the pushiness. As far as hesitation to give a discount or throw in bags, in business you can’t just give stuff away for no reason, we offer trade in sales for this reason, but also usually try to throw in bags if paying full price. Also, I can understand not budging on discount because a lot of people will get that discount that the store is offering, then pull out that 10% and want it on top of the deal they already offered. Not everybody, but a lot do.
I have had a Sebo X4EXTRA vacuum cleaner since 2014 and it's still going strong. Over these years I have replaced a few components, which are easy to find and fit by yourself. This machine was designed for the user who would maintain it correctly. The reward is long life ! But my cat is terrified of it (which can be useful for when she needs to be caught and taken to the vet) https://seboshop.co.uk/sebo-vacuum-cleaners/buy-sebo-upright-vacuum-cleaner/sebo-x4-automatic-extra-eco-vacuum-cleaner
I have a German SEBO upright hoover that dates back 15 years, to before they changed the energy regulations, so it's very powerful. I have replaced a couple of parts a couple of times - the rotating brush and a filter that was beginning to leak and made an infernal whining noise. And I'm beginning to think the rotating brush needs to be replaced again. Draping the cable and moving it from one socket to another is a constant nuisance. It's long but not quite long enough to get round the whole flat from one socket. I live on my own in a 1-bedroom flat. I hoover my carpeted floors every 2 weeks. I only need to change the bag about once a year. Just DON'T BUY A DYSON. They are notorious for breaking down.
If you are interested in an upright, the Sebo Felix and my personal favourite, the X4, are fantastic. Well built, nothing overkill, easy to service, excellent power and long lasting machines.
For Miele, it’s would be a C3 series, or Guard L1 with an electric powerhead and good floor brush. Add the HA50 H13 Hepa filter if you want the best filtering vacuum in the world. For Sebo, the K3 is under $1000, but the more powerful models are E3 or D4 premium with the ET-1 powerhead (best powerhead in the world). This time of year being that sales are more likely to start popping up, a Sebo dealer will happily give a deal on each model to get within or closer to your budget. If you want uprights, Sebo X4 or Felix, or a top model riccar (riccar will have a bit more power, but I’d personally chose the X4 or Felix).
Part 2 Dyson is known for damaging rugs and carpets due to poorly designed powerheads (lack of venting and harsh rollers), hard to service design which means the vacuum is prone to dropping in performance (airflow), small internal nozzle openings and slots in the powerheads that clog easily, and critical attachments like height adjustment powerheads are not available (+ parts get discontinued a lot). Their plug in canisters are some of the worst designed canisters I’ve ever seen, especially the electric powerhead versions. They have a crazy plastic piece in the middle of the hose that scrapes on the floor when you’re pulling it around, the wand is atrocious and difficult to work with, the canister uses plastic wheels and can’t be moved side to side…. No wonder why their stick vas do so well sales wise. Canister vas designed like that are a big reason why stick vacs have become so popular. Miele and Sebo canisters are MILES ahead performance and ease of use wise compared to Dyson canisters. Miele and Sebo canisters move more air, better filtration and exhaust design, use all swivel wheels, better plastics and electronics, take a 1/4 of the time to disassemble, and the hose and handle design is completely superior. That’s just touching the surface. The plug in uprights are better than the canisters… but let’s break those down. Plastic wheels…. Come on. No height adjustable powerhead and has a harsh brush roller (these voided carpet warranties like crazy). A lot of them had the accessory hose as part of the handle, so you couldn’t roll the vacuum around when using it. And the service aspect, the thing has some of the worst quality wiring you can use. And I haven’t even gotten into the cheap internal hoses that rip - oh and what do you know, Dyson discontinued a bunch of those hoses. Yeah the swivel powerhead works fine, so that’s ok. Uprights in general though, and I say this for every brand, are just not easy to use for most consumers - helps with the stick vac sales. Compared to a Sebo X4 or Felix…. Both move more air (especially the Felix), x4 has superior handle design with the hose attachment, Felix premium has the powerhead swivel, both have height adjustable powerheads, Felix is easiest for stairs, both have rubber wheels, better plastics, easier to service…
The best upright vacuums are from Sebo and Riccar. Anti tangle rollers are a bit gimmicky, and don’t really deep clean carpet well.
Watch for how the vacuum exhausts if you’re getting a new one. The exhaust should be straight up, away from the floor. Not blowing right out the back or side against the floor, which blows the dust up in the air. Also, the hepa rating is not enough. There’s multiple levels of hepa, and just because a vacuum says it’s hepa, it doesn’t mean it’s an actual sealed system. I’ve tested plenty of “hepa” vacuums, just to find out they aren’t really hepa. Miele’s C3 / Guard Series are properly sealed vacuums. Add on an H13 hepa filter, and you truly have the best of the best. Sebo is another fantastic option - I’m very allergic to dust and it works awesome for myself. The airbelt even disperses the exhaust, so it helps the dust in the air settle, and doesn’t disrupt the dust on the floor. Anyone, and I will state this firmly, that says anything against Miele or Sebo as far as filtration, truly has not a clue what they are talking about, respectfully. Brands like Kenmore, Shark, Dyson, have no business being in the same conversation when it comes to filtration - they are without question worse. Edit: I will also add on, Miele and Sebo are Quiet vacuums.
