r/VacuumCleanersSome questions on choosing a Sebo upright model (X7 vs X8)

The Sebo X Series vacuums are very good if you have all or mostly carpet. Their brushroll is always spinning when it is on so they aren't the best on hard floors and the brushroll is still on when you are using the hose. The X Series is very durable and has fewer switches and moving parts then some of the other vacuums such as the Sebo Felix and Sebo E3. The X7/X8 do not have some of the features on the Felix and E3 such as suction speed control and brushroll shutoff. 1. You go it X7 is a standard width with boost mode and X8 is wider with no boost mode. 2. The boost mode lowers the brushroll so it will do a deeper clean on carpets. The automatic height sometimes is not low enough to do a deep clean and so the boost mode is then activated. 3. The X7 and X8 and any X Series cannot use the ET-1 or ET-2 powerheads on the hose or wand. Their hose and wand are not wired like the K3, E3, & D4 canisters. If you have a mix of hard floors and carpets many people prefer to have brushroll shutoff that you get on the Dart & Felix and the K3, E3, & D4. The Dart, Felix, and all the canisters can use the Premuim Parquet Brush and the canisters can use all the additional parquet brushes for very thorough and gentle cleaning on hard floors. Go to a local vacuum store to try these in person. Hope this helps.

r/VacuumCleanersWhy Are Bagged Vacuums Making a Comeback?

Had various Dyson uprights and canisters in the past, but couldn't help noticing they were always covered in a fine layer of dust. I also wasn't happy about needing to sweep or vacuum around the bin every time I emptied the cup (no matter how careful I was, a little dust would always scatter or blow back somehow). Washing out the filters wasn't exactly pleasant either, and they took an age to dry afterwards. Ironically, Dyson was the best of the bunch at the time. The late 90s/early 2000s were awash with a raft of truly woeful bagless vacuums, that were trying to compete with Dyson without infringing on their patents, but failing badly at it. They were so crap they made a Dyson look good. I didn't make the change until I ran a housecleaning business. I needed something reliable and durable, but not quite as big and hefty as a commercial vac, and the Sebo Automatic X seemed to be the best match. When I saw how easy and clean it was to change the bag, I decided to swap my home vacuum for a Sebo too, and have stuck with them ever since. Not out of some kind of blind brand loyalty, but because nobody else seems to make anything I'd want now.

r/VacuumCleanersWhat's the best vacuum currently in existence, price not relevant?

The best vacuum cleaner is the one that fits your cleaning needs. That said; if I’m choosing: - MD or Vacuflo central vac with chameleon retractable hoses and direct connext inlets. - Canister: SEBO D4 - Raw Power upright: Riccar R40 - Overall upright: Sebo X -Cordless: Hoover ONEPWR Hepa Bagged Upright BH55500PC (oreck has one, Hoover commercial has 40v version) - Ultralight: Oreck Elevate Conquer (yes Riccar R17 is excellent but this has a swivel neck)

My Sebo has a 40 ft cord and my Electrolux cord might be longer. What helped me was watching youtube videos and then customizing my Sebo and buying additional attachments. My Siberian Husky drops a LOT of hair.

r/VacuumCleanersExplain to me why you like a canister vac? And give me advice on what to get...

I went sebo (E3) over miele due to: cheaper, better warranty, cheaper parts and repair, and sebo does one thing (make vacuums)... suprised theres no sebo dealer nearby, I recommend trying to fine one even if its a drive. Think of SEBO like volkswagen, and MIELE like BMW. the variety of responses here are proof positive of TRY BEFORE BUY I tried miele, sebo uprights, sebo felix, sebo canister. disliked the felix immediately upon trying, despite my mind leaning felix during the online research phase! I'm a total convert from upright to canister (or at least sebos version of it) but you need to assess if you can handle the quirks of a canister. downsides of a canister: 1) one more thing to keep track of (I got used to it fast, I just kick it around or pull it by the hose) 2) harder to store (pending a good solution to this...) 3) heavier to take up the stairs (but easier to actually vacuum said stairs) Upsides of the canister: 1) lighter IN HAND (the weight of the vacuum is supported by the floor, not your hand, in use). 2) cord rewind (wrapping up cords after a upright vacuum session sucks, the SEBO you just unplug and step on the retract button. 3) much easier to do top to bottom detail vacuuming (fans, vents, dusting, cabinets, walls, pictures, shelves, dusting), wand/hose mode reaches many more high places and without tipping over the upright. 4) easier to maneuver the power head. yes you gotta maneuver the canister into position, but once you do you can get that powerhead into alot more difficult to reach places (under beds, couches, rugs, tables). Easier to maneuver the canister than moving furniture. I'm over cordless due to wall to wall carpet, the time limit (good for quick pickups only), and I really dislike the cleaning/washing/emptying of bagless machines (which most cordless are). The whole reason I vacuum is to GET RID of dust, dirt and nastiness... why do I wanna go touching and breathing it later... in concentrated form, bathing in a big ol dust cloud?!

r/VacuumCleanersDO NOT BUY A DYSON (I wish someone had told me this)

Twenty seven years ago we purchased a Eureka canister that broke within a year. We ended up with a Miele. That thing still runs and I use it to clean my unfinished basement twice a year. My new Miele canister lives on my first floor for hardwood and my Sebo upright in s upstairs for carpeting. The Sebo is heavy but it’s a beast that will definitely outlive me. I now have two very cheap cordless vacuums that I use like Dustbusters. I’ve never understood why people buy that Dyson crap. There are complaints everywhere. There’s a difference between a company that spends money on engineering and quality and one that spend it on advertising. Dyson spends it on advertising. I’d vote for Miele everyday.

r/VacuumCleanersBest Upright Vaccum?

Basically doesn’t exist according to your specifications. Anti-tangle brushrolls don’t work and are a marketing gimmick and bagless vacuums don’t last long. A decent long lasting vacuum is going to be bagged, corded and fairly expensive. Look at Sebo uprights, Riccar R25, etc. Something cheaper, look at something like the Kenmore Elite

r/VacuumCleanersLooking for Vacuum, with hepa or hepa capable, catered to someone with allergies, maybe bagged for that reason, under 500
4 months ago

Pretty much either Miele or Sebo with a powerhead. Any of them. If you really do have wall to wall carpets, a second hand Kirby with a HEPA bag is decent lol

r/VacuumCleanersLooking for a Carpet Vacuum Cleaner Under $300 (Long Hair Friendly)

You’ll save money. If you buy a Dyson or Shark you’ll have to spend another 200 or 300 bucks in a few years. If you buy a Sebo, you will be set for 10 to 20 years.

r/VacuumCleanersNever ever buy a Dyson vac.

If you’re spending 800 on a Dyson just spend that on a Sebo or Miele and you’re good for 10+ years lol

Check out r/vacuumcleaners As mentioned Miele and Sebo are top brands. You can safely ignore any shark or Dyson recs. They’re garbage. As is anything bagless.

Vacuum wars is a paid shark shill and not to be trusted. Hell Chris even appeared in a shark commercial. BIFL vacuums absolutely exist. They’re corded and bagged made by brands like Miele and Sebo.

If suction and filtration are your main concern, a *bagged* Miele is your best bet. Sebo is also excellent. What’s your flooring like? I wouldn’t even consider Dyson, they’re junk.

You want to ask r/vacuumcleaners. Miele or Sebo is the correct answer. Corded and bagged. Safely ignore any shark or Dyson recs. Find a local dealer and take a few Miele’s and sebos for a test drive. Specifically the Sebo dart if it’s mostly for carpet.

r/VacuumCleanersStick vacuum vs handheld vs robot vacuum: which is best for what scenarios in real life?

I hate robot vacuums. They’re so loud and I have stairs and they get lost (or used to anyway.) I have three vacuums. An upright SEBO upstairs, a stick on my middle floor (tile) and a canister in my basement (Miele)

r/dysonWhat is the best vacuum for carpeted floors?

V11 and later versions of their cordless perform ok for thick carpets. You have to open the front gates to relieve pressure. If you have a lot of carpet, you have to learn to stop cleaning your entire home in one go. If you really want a Dyson, I would personally only get the Ball Animal 3 for your thick carpets. It also works really well for hard floors. You should watch Vacuum War's review on it to see if it fits your needs. DO NOT get any other version of Dyson uprights, they are horrible and only work on very specific types of carpets. Otherwise, a Sebo upright is my next recommendation if you don't mind bagged.
