I’m in Canada but am in the process of researching for the purchase of a vacuum cleaner. In Canada at least, Sebo is a no brainer over Miele. They are cheaper for equivalent features, they have a Longer warranty and Parts are easier to obtain if something does go wrong, bags and filters are also cheaper. After testing out some models I prefer the Sebo canisters as well, a lot of the preference is about the electric power head but that may not apply in your situation since you don’t have carpet. In addition, I found both the e3 and D4 easier to manoeuvre (they handle differently from each other, but i was able to figure out the best way to get around the store with each one and did better than with the C3) I also like having the suction control on the wand handle as opposed to on the machine. In your situation, depending on the plushness of your area rugs, you could potentially go with any of their e or d models. I have 2 cats and a dog as well and if I’d didn’t have wall to wall carpet on my second floor, I’d be getting the D4 airbelt, I have low pile area rugs and hard wood on my main floor and included tools would be ideal for that combo, plus it offers the potential to add a power head down the line, I’d also pick up a handheld turbo head for your stairs. In my circumstances I’m leaning towards the e3 or the Felix as I want a canister but my wife prefers an upright. We may end up with two vacuums, one for each floor.
I've got them all lol, well not a D4... I got way lost down a rabbit hole trying to find the perfect vacuum. I started with a new E3 and G4. Then started looking at used ones on eBay. Got a K3 used in good shape but no power nozzle. Found a used ET1 power nozzle from a Felix orange in color. It was so disgusting, dog hair in places that just made me wonder how, pretty good coating of dog shit on the brush roll too. It cleaned up pretty good, new brush roll, belt, and bearings. Probably have $150 in that power nozzle, plus a lot of time. I found an orange air belt fabric, the K3 is black, so with the orange power nozzle and air belt against the black canister it looks pretty sharp. I really liked using that little vac, its about the perfect size for our place, nice and lightweight, maneuvers really well etc. Then I found a couple C3.1 models... One ended up as a pure suction, the other a full working model with an ET1. The bags it uses are the same as the G4 so that's handy. What really surprises me is that 20+ year old vacuums can still perform as well as they do. Those C3.1 models still have great suction, new bags and filters help, but gosh what well made vacuums. I'll tell the story about the Miele collection next time. I've been long winded already and my stories have become tiresome. Good chat.
I have a soft medium pile wool shag rug and the soft brush roll Sebo offers does great with it. I mostly vacuum it with suction only and use the brush roll maybe every other time but so far it’s stayed in great shape.
Yep. After combing this thread for days, I went from Dyson and Shark cordless to Sebo canister with hepa filter/bags (felt like I was back in the 80s) last year and never looked back. The allure of cordless has such a hold on us, but spend a little more up front for a better, BIFL product and you won’t regret it. Plus, buy a Sebo from an in-person dealer and you get three more years of warranty.
Sebo canister with power head and HEPA filter upgrade. When purchased from an authorized retailer you get a 10 year warranty. Parts are easier, cheaper to source and more readily available than Miele vacuums. You can get 10-15% off of a new unit by speaking directly with online authorized sellers (at least here in the USA). Central vac with SEBO power head, IMO.
Must be the manual adjustment SEBO, the automatic does not seem to have that issue, if it is raise it up a notch
Sebo is most of my business so that!
Of course she will get conflicting views here. SEBO if you have the money as well worth it if not, go with the Kenny.
Or the only other quality Vacuum is the SEBO you can tell them that you want one of those instead
As a small vacuum business myself, I would be happy to switch it out for you, if you feel better, call them ahead of time. Tell him what happened and you decide to go with the SEBO
They are having issues with their new SEB O and they are upset, these things are very rare, but they do happen
Windsor/Sebo as good as it gets, what is breaking?
All 3 are excellent. You really can’t do wrong between the 3. Personally I’d place more weight on the price, warranty etc between the two brands. It’s splitting hairs (see what I did there?) but I’d rank them 236, et-1, 228 in the order of cleaning performance alone. Like I said, they’re all great I don’t think there is a “right” or wrong answer here. The removable brush is a huge plus for Sebo. But IMO the Miele cleans better. However the Miele’s are not user serviceable. Also know that while I think the 236 cleans the best (by a narrow margin) it does have this awkward belt placement where it leaves a path of uncleaned carpet about 3/4 off to the side. I use that as a guide on how much to overlap but some people find it annoying.
Check out r/vacuumcleaners As mentioned Miele and Sebo are top brands. You can safely ignore any shark or Dyson recs. They’re garbage. As is anything bagless.
Vacuum wars is a paid shark shill and not to be trusted. Hell Chris even appeared in a shark commercial. BIFL vacuums absolutely exist. They’re corded and bagged made by brands like Miele and Sebo.
If suction and filtration are your main concern, a *bagged* Miele is your best bet. Sebo is also excellent. What’s your flooring like? I wouldn’t even consider Dyson, they’re junk.
Miele, Sebo, Henry, Lindhaus. Shark and Dyson are garbage. Check out r/vacuumcleaners
You want to ask r/vacuumcleaners. Miele or Sebo is the correct answer. Corded and bagged. Safely ignore any shark or Dyson recs. Find a local dealer and take a few Miele’s and sebos for a test drive. Specifically the Sebo dart if it’s mostly for carpet.
I went sebo (E3) over miele due to: cheaper, better warranty, cheaper parts and repair, and sebo does one thing (make vacuums)... suprised theres no sebo dealer nearby, I recommend trying to fine one even if its a drive. Think of SEBO like volkswagen, and MIELE like BMW. the variety of responses here are proof positive of TRY BEFORE BUY I tried miele, sebo uprights, sebo felix, sebo canister. disliked the felix immediately upon trying, despite my mind leaning felix during the online research phase! I'm a total convert from upright to canister (or at least sebos version of it) but you need to assess if you can handle the quirks of a canister. downsides of a canister: 1) one more thing to keep track of (I got used to it fast, I just kick it around or pull it by the hose) 2) harder to store (pending a good solution to this...) 3) heavier to take up the stairs (but easier to actually vacuum said stairs) Upsides of the canister: 1) lighter IN HAND (the weight of the vacuum is supported by the floor, not your hand, in use). 2) cord rewind (wrapping up cords after a upright vacuum session sucks, the SEBO you just unplug and step on the retract button. 3) much easier to do top to bottom detail vacuuming (fans, vents, dusting, cabinets, walls, pictures, shelves, dusting), wand/hose mode reaches many more high places and without tipping over the upright. 4) easier to maneuver the power head. yes you gotta maneuver the canister into position, but once you do you can get that powerhead into alot more difficult to reach places (under beds, couches, rugs, tables). Easier to maneuver the canister than moving furniture. I'm over cordless due to wall to wall carpet, the time limit (good for quick pickups only), and I really dislike the cleaning/washing/emptying of bagless machines (which most cordless are). The whole reason I vacuum is to GET RID of dust, dirt and nastiness... why do I wanna go touching and breathing it later... in concentrated form, bathing in a big ol dust cloud?!
Honestly if you’re willing to spend up to $600, it’s really worth the extra $250-300 to get a Miele or a Sebo. I spent way more that that in vacuums I hated (shark, Dyson, Hoover, etc) and finally broke down and got a Sebo canister. I wish I’d done it sooner. Even the ‘higher end’ shark and Dyson are child’s play compared to the good vacuums.
