SEBO - Essential G5

The [Sebo G4/G5](https://www.thinkvacuums.com/sebo-essential-g5-upright-vacuum-cleaner-90407am.html) are one of the best vacuums for allergies.

We sell Sebo essential G4 or G5 to almost all of our commercial accounts. They are tough as nails and parts are readily available.

Not surprised about the rug. You need raw power to effectively clean a rug like that. Sebo G-series upright. Riccar upright. Etc. Almost any premium level upright will accomplish this task without issue. I prefer Sebo’s quick change rollers for dog hair homes though. Makes cleaning the brush extremely easy. Canisters will work too but most folks don’t want to deal with dragging or carrying a canister around. You tend to get a little more filtration this way. If you want cheaper box store brand, a Shark Navigator/Apex type with duoclean and powerfins. Know these are more plastic and prob won’t last as long as more premium brands. Find a vacuum dealer near you. My local shop markets with the brand name Oreck. They have lots of floor models you can try before you buy. One of the important aspects to check out is weight. Is it comfortable to whomever will be operating it?

Check out Sebo. Their uprights are excellent.

Definitely don’t buy a $75 cordless vacuum. It will be in the trash before the New Year then you’ll be looking to replace it, wasting even more money. If you can stretch slightly (a bit). Keep an eye out for Black Friday sales for a Hoover Complete performance or Kenmore intuition. Agreed with Performance reviews - used is a great option for that budget. A used Miele, Sebo, Oreck or Sanitare

V11 and later versions of their cordless perform ok for thick carpets. You have to open the front gates to relieve pressure. If you have a lot of carpet, you have to learn to stop cleaning your entire home in one go. If you really want a Dyson, I would personally only get the Ball Animal 3 for your thick carpets. It also works really well for hard floors. You should watch Vacuum War's review on it to see if it fits your needs. DO NOT get any other version of Dyson uprights, they are horrible and only work on very specific types of carpets. Otherwise, a Sebo upright is my next recommendation if you don't mind bagged.

SEBO for upright. Miele for canister. Miele has slightly better filtration than SEBO but I personally prefer SEBO canisters and uprights due to better warranty and cost of ownership

While I'm certainly a fan of Kenmore vacuums for uprights I think I would look at Sebo, Lindhaus, Carpet Pro, CleanMax (those last two are both Tacony commerical vacuum brands) and Titan. Sebo has legendary durability, are easy to maintain and Sebo parts and supply prices are very reasonable. Sebo has superb customer service. With some shopping you can probably find a deal on an open box or display item that would meet your budget. Lindhaus is an Italian brand that dukes it out with Sebo for the high end commercial vacuum customer's business. They are only a quarter notch below Sebo for durability and their customer service is likewise superb. Both companies have a real live human in the US who answers the phone! Both clean carpets really well and both are built to survive many years of hard daily use by janitors and hospitality staff. Carpet Pro and CleanMax are heavy duty commercial uprights from Tacony Corp, but some of their models have all the bells and whistles that household cleaners have. What I like about them is they have steel sole plates and steel brush rolls with replaceable brush strips. These things are also built to survive hard daily use by custodians and hospitality staff. In household use they will last many years with minimal trouble. Titan is the house brand of a big vacuum parts wholesaler, Steel City Vacuums. Most of their uprights are made by Tacony and many are still made in the US. They have the same virtues as Carpet Pro and CleanMax but are aimed more at household users so they have more features.

If you're cleaning a lot of hardwood floors, I would not do Sebo uprights as they don't have a brushroll shutoff Electric brooms like the Sebo Felix/Dart, Lindhaus Valzer, Healthcare Pro can fit both the hard floor tools and motorized brushrolls from Sebo/Lindhaus Uprights like the Lindhaus Diamante have 2 motors and the brushroll can be turned off for hard floors. Not ideal if hardfloors are your main surface For canisters, Sebo D9 (the commercial version of the D4) and Lindhaus HF6 would be good options for doing it all. They have the electric brushrolls, huge bag capacity, commercial warranties, and long cords

The comment regarding the handle creaky sounds and audible air leak... I have found the audible air leak in multiple Miele canisters (over the years) AND Sebo. I don't think this is a change from previous models I've used. It just seems to be a reality that they don't see as a significant concern (ie. likely to not affect performance in a meaningful way, but preventing it would probably require fittings that would likely add cost, decrease dependability, and in the very least, wear down with not much use to the point that they ultimately start leaking). I really don't think it likely makes a noteworthy difference and they know the benefit:cost situation. As for the creaky handle -with even slight "give" in it, I have definitely noted it, but again, I believe it is one of those, "it doesn't actually affect anything in a meaningful way, but it does allow for the fit and connections as intended" situations. I could be wrong, but if it were an issue, I think warranty costs alone would discourage them from continuing with the practice. BUT, again, there is no doubt, that it is a very real thing. I haven't had an issue with the swivel of the ET-1 but prefer how light and maneuverable it feels to me. The low profile is also much better than \*most\* of the high end power heads I've used. none, save your money and get a vacuum that isn't overpriced and unreliable like every shark is, for $400 you can get a really decent spec miele or sebo, both of which are fantastic for carpets

My Sebo was around that, but should last long enough to be less money than buying multiple vacuums.

Very interesting, I thought Dyson was the most hated on Reddit. I spent months to read comments and ended up with Sebo. Used Dyson before and it was mid.

The Miele, Henry, and Sebo vacs are the only ones worth a damn on this list. If you want a real BIFL vac and are willing to shell out, get a Lindhaus.

I have to agree with this. Returned my V15 because the fluffy brush was not gentle on my less than 2 year old solid hickory wood floors. Bought a Sebo which is gentle on my wood floors as it comes with a nice parquet floor brush.

I spend 1200 on a sebo and don't regret it one bit

I’m not a Miele fan either. It’s waaay to echo-chambered around here. I much prefer Sebo.

When we bought our Karastan carpet, there was a vacuum recommendation on the website. We already had a Sebo, and weren't about to purchase something else. We also don't have high pile. I previously saw they recommended Soniclean, but for all I know, it could have been a tie-in for financial reasons more than they really thought it was better than anything else.

price of replacement parts is a huge reason i recommend sebo vacuums. every time i have to look up a part for a miele vacuum i already know it’s going to cost 3x-4x what it should.

Don't go by the pricing on the Sebo website. The only reason I ended up getting one is because the pricing was much less from a local dealer.

Sebo, Henry, Miele, Lindhaus all make BIFL level machines. They're expensive, but 20+ years of service is common with these brands. Sebo machines even come with a 10 year warranty when you get them from a dealer. Can't go wrong with anything from these brands. Go to a brick and mortar vacuum store and avoid big box store brands like Shark and Dyson.

I have had my Sebo for 20+ years and still going strong. Take it in every few years for a tune up!

Get a Sebo. Literally any Sebo.

Sebo. It’s the new Electrolux. I went from electrolux (40 years of service, inherited from my mom) which was amazing, to a Miele (20 years of service, inherited from step mom) to a Dyson Animal. The Dyson lasted 12 years before I got sick of it. I bought a Sebo! I’m 58 and I won’t need another vacuum before I die.

I was going to get a miele but the reviews deterred me two years ago. Dug more and saw sebo is cheaper to repair/maintain with comparable performance so I got that instead. It was just at a local vacuum shop, not at costco so I wouldn't really be catching a steep sale like I would at costco. No regrets though. Also got a sebo to universal adapter for lots of random attachments off amazon (though you can do that with any brand). Very pleased.

I have a Sebo and really like it, but just generally would recommend a bagged vacuum over a bagless upright. They seem convenient, but after years of using a dyson, it's so NICE to throw the bag of stinky (I have a golden retriever XD) dog hair into the trash and not have it funking up the whole vacuum, forever. Completely pulling apart and having it professionally serviced never got all the doggy smell out of the dyson. Newer dysons are also absolute junk compared to a dyson from 10-15 years ago.

I cannot overstate how much I love my Sebo. Does great on tile, wood, and carpet. Lightweight, effective, and put my Dyson Animal to shame. Does fantastic with dog hair.

I'm a professional cleaner. Shark 100%. Dyson and Sebo do similar but they're more expensive. Sebo has a HEPA filter in it.

I have a Sebo. They're made in germany and definitely a buy it for life item. Mine has a 10 year warranty and can be services at your local vacuum store. I use mine basically every day.

Sebo are bullet proof, great for pethair

I have a Kirby and a sebo both are bullet proof but I love my sebo if a vacuum can be considered refined it a sebo

I just asked about how often I’d be buying bags for a sebo with two high shedding large dogs, (similar probably too a gsd and 3 (if long hair cats) I would probably be replacing the bag every week. (Actually more than that because I didn’t tell people I also have 3 cats haha) Someone with a husky commented that they replace the bag 1.5-2 times a month. Calculating that cost for two dogs is another 210 a year in bags (probably more for me) I am taking that into account with  replacing a vacuum that died (Dyson) but it doesn’t have a bag or a Sebo that has a 10 year warranty but I will have probably bought 2-3 dysons in that time period with the amount I’d be spending on bags. I haven’t decided yet 🙃 but thought I’d share the numbers.

A Sebo could survive longer. I've seen Sebos go through tons of shit and still perform like new. Not to trash on Miele, Miele's are great vacuums, and I would recommend them. But a Sebo is blowing the Miele out of the water with durability in a commercial setting.

Look, I love Kenmore, but they are expensive to repair and they no longer make my roller brush. The 2 brushes I did buy were $200. I could’ve bought a Sebo for the price of the vacuum and two roller brushes. Sebo vacuums are cheaper to repair and just better all around.

We recently got a Sebo and I love it so so so much. Love the bagged vacuum. And the air smells so clean after.

Do you have a dealer nearby? go try them, Sebo for the win in my book, I had so many issues with Miele during covid and for few years after, parting out hoses and wands to other companies

Sebo and Miele are BIFL. Dyson is not BIFL. If you buy a Sebo, the manual comes with an exploded parts diagram where you can buy each and every part. Dyson does not have this because when something breaks, they want you to buy a new vacuum. Same goes for Shark, Bissell and other bagless garbage that people keep recommending.
