"If you're cleaning a lot of hardwood floors, I would not do Sebo uprights as they don't have a brushroll shutoff"

The [Sebo G4/G5](https://www.thinkvacuums.com/sebo-essential-g5-upright-vacuum-cleaner-90407am.html) are one of the best vacuums for allergies.

Not surprised about the rug. You need raw power to effectively clean a rug like that. Sebo G-series upright. Riccar upright. Etc. Almost any premium level upright will accomplish this task without issue. I prefer Sebo’s quick change rollers for dog hair homes though. Makes cleaning the brush extremely easy. Canisters will work too but most folks don’t want to deal with dragging or carrying a canister around. You tend to get a little more filtration this way. If you want cheaper box store brand, a Shark Navigator/Apex type with duoclean and powerfins. Know these are more plastic and prob won’t last as long as more premium brands. Find a vacuum dealer near you. My local shop markets with the brand name Oreck. They have lots of floor models you can try before you buy. One of the important aspects to check out is weight. Is it comfortable to whomever will be operating it?

Sebo powerhead. So incredibly easy to clean. I also had great luck with the Shark duoclean powerfin system but the actual vacuum was a dumpster file. Didn’t last a year. I also learned I prefer bagged vacuums to help trap and contain the allergies, dust, hair. My Sebo canister has four levels of filtering on it. My Dyson smells like it has none.

If you prefer using the other models, that’s fine, go for it. But to suggest these features are just a reason to charge more and up the profit….. you’re just flat out wrong. Does Sebo make more off of those vacuums - yes. With a height adjustment motor, you essentially have an infinite number of levels which allows the vacuum to get to the exact height it needs to properly open up the carpet pile and direct the air below. On other models you have 4 levels. Now, height adjustment is height adjustment, it’s the best feature to have on a powerhead - so there is nothing wrong with those 4 levels of adjustment. Typically consumers set them too low as sometimes the vacuum feels like it’s doing a good job, but sometimes it’s quite the opposite and the vacuum is flattening the carpet - not allowing it to deep clean properly and wears parts out quicker. Now when used correctly it’s fine and some carpets you can set it to the literal perfect height, but then the motor with infinite levels will almost always set properly, and those things hardly ever need replacing. I’ve changed parts on a heck of a lot more G’s than X models. In fact, I could say the opposite about the G in terms of price - where you say Sebo makes the X because they make more $ - I could (and will) say that stores sometimes recommend the G because it’s an easier sale. And some stores absolutely do that. Sebo is a company that’s built itself solely on reliability, reputation, and quality. To suggest that they’re trying to pump out X series vacuums just to make more $ is flat out wrong. Otherwise they’d be like everyone else and pump out battery stick vacuums. Word for word, ive spoken with them and have been told they “are not a trend company”. Also, Sebo came out with a less expensive version of the Felix Premium to sort of some of the companies that they had on it…

The best upright vacuums are from Sebo and Riccar. Anti tangle rollers are a bit gimmicky, and don’t really deep clean carpet well.

My Sebo has a 40 ft cord and my Electrolux cord might be longer. What helped me was watching youtube videos and then customizing my Sebo and buying additional attachments. My Siberian Husky drops a LOT of hair.

Twenty seven years ago we purchased a Eureka canister that broke within a year. We ended up with a Miele. That thing still runs and I use it to clean my unfinished basement twice a year. My new Miele canister lives on my first floor for hardwood and my Sebo upright in s upstairs for carpeting. The Sebo is heavy but it’s a beast that will definitely outlive me. I now have two very cheap cordless vacuums that I use like Dustbusters. I’ve never understood why people buy that Dyson crap. There are complaints everywhere. There’s a difference between a company that spends money on engineering and quality and one that spend it on advertising. Dyson spends it on advertising. I’d vote for Miele everyday.

You’ll save money. If you buy a Dyson or Shark you’ll have to spend another 200 or 300 bucks in a few years. If you buy a Sebo, you will be set for 10 to 20 years.

If you’re spending 800 on a Dyson just spend that on a Sebo or Miele and you’re good for 10+ years lol

Basically doesn’t exist according to your specifications. Anti-tangle brushrolls don’t work and are a marketing gimmick and bagless vacuums don’t last long. A decent long lasting vacuum is going to be bagged, corded and fairly expensive. Look at Sebo uprights, Riccar R25, etc. Something cheaper, look at something like the Kenmore Elite

Pretty much either Miele or Sebo with a powerhead. Any of them. If you really do have wall to wall carpets, a second hand Kirby with a HEPA bag is decent lol

Check out r/vacuumcleaners As mentioned Miele and Sebo are top brands. You can safely ignore any shark or Dyson recs. They’re garbage. As is anything bagless.

Vacuum wars is a paid shark shill and not to be trusted. Hell Chris even appeared in a shark commercial. BIFL vacuums absolutely exist. They’re corded and bagged made by brands like Miele and Sebo.

V11 and later versions of their cordless perform ok for thick carpets. You have to open the front gates to relieve pressure. If you have a lot of carpet, you have to learn to stop cleaning your entire home in one go. If you really want a Dyson, I would personally only get the Ball Animal 3 for your thick carpets. It also works really well for hard floors. You should watch Vacuum War's review on it to see if it fits your needs. DO NOT get any other version of Dyson uprights, they are horrible and only work on very specific types of carpets. Otherwise, a Sebo upright is my next recommendation if you don't mind bagged.
