I just got a Shark Pro direct cordless and it’s been a game changer. It goes from hard floor to rugs no problem and is lightweight, so easy to manoeuvre and can even get under the wardrobe etc, it doesn’t get my long hair tangled and gets around an hour on full charge. The battery comes off to charge and is easy to clip on/off. It’s about standard width at the bottom but for storage it folds in half so much easier to store than a normal upright.

I had a Henry in the past and currently have a Shark. The henry was good but if you wanted to use the brushes on the head to lift up the carpet pile it can be quite hard work. It was also bulky and took up a lot of room in the under-stairs cupboard. The shark we have now is cordless and is decent and I enjoy using it. It has the head with the power-fins on it rather than a spinning brush. With this design I think it's better for hard floors rather than carpet. The fins don't do a good job of lifting the carpet pile. Without any weight keeping the head down, the head wobbles up and down if you drag the cleaner back against the direction of the pile.

I have two, one is a cordless Shark hair thingy hoover and a Titan work hoover. The Shark hoover is merely for aesthetics as it always requires some kind of attention before using it and the Titan is the goto one to use because it's always ready to be used and I don't have to worry about the battery running out.

People go nuts for Henry's on here but I find their suction and ability to get up pet hairs is poor, and lugging around the unit is really tiresome. I have a cordless Shark with anti-hair wrap and it's fantastic. Having a long haired cat, the fur gets everywhere, and it easily gets it all.

I have own three sharks. I think the first was the NV210, it was a tank. Lasted us ten years but I kept it and filters clean, and I abused it by cleaning up pea stone, Dry wall dust, and banging into wood trim. Good cheap vacuum. The second was the rechargeable stick. Not great. Poor suction, terrible battery, very difficult to clean. Only lasted three years, including one battery swap. Would not buy again. The third is our current plug-in vacuum. Shark lift away with the power odor eliminator pod. It’s decent, but the brushhead is weird, it takes its time to wind up to full speed. It’s a different roller than a typical beater brush and apparently doesn’t get hair stuck around it. Good suction for the price, I was very wary of dropping a grand for a vacuum after I had such good years with our previous shark. haven’t needed to work on it much yet and I have a wet/dry vacuum now for house projects. I spent a lot of time in this sub last November prior to decide on the best vacuum. My wife was adamant she wanted a standup, she wanted battery powered (to replace the shark mentioned above) but I was able to convince her to relax on this requirement. And she wanted bagless, this couldn’t sway her. After a time of tolerating the shark rechargeable I had enough and tossed it. This past week I bought a Dyson v15 refurbished on Amazon, it was brand new and works great so far although it my wife mentioned it doesn’t handle pea stone well dragged in by two doodles from our garden. She’s beyond happy so I’m happy. However now I want a better plug-in vacuum. She’s a quick mess cleaner, I’m a deep cleaner, and the new shark is not a vacuum I’d buy again. I probably would buy a Miele C1.

Five cats, my Bissells would give up after six months and were hell to unclog! SHARK Pro and I actually use the attachments, too. Plus so easy to unclog because you have access to all the bits. 10/10 Highly recommend Shark Pro

We have and at the time we bought we still had dogs. Both do great! We graduated to the shark robot once we no longer had dogs of our own. We still have one of our kids large very hairy dog at least 3-4 days a month and the robot is able to maintain us daily even when it is there. Our stick vac gets used once every two weeks. Used to have Dyson for context and it wasn’t as good. We only have a small amount of carpet in the house.

Get the best mattress, sheets & pillows you can afford. They make a huge difference in life. For me, a comfy chair or couch is the other important thing to spend money on. I have allergies and carpet so a good vacuum is worth it to me. Everything else is Amazon or Walmart pretty much. I have a comfortable home that I enjoy, moderately minimalist because I have a grown kid living at home at the moment and 2 cats.

I have levoit air purifiers, big one in my living area, smaller one in my bedroom & they do seem to help. I’ve had a Dyson vacuum, but I have a Shark pro one now & it does an amazing job. I feel like both help with my allergies. But Dyson is a great brand as well, so if you feel it will help, go for it. They would serve a need.
