Spend a little more and get the shark upright with powered/motorized lift away head that can reach under things with power. Much better than the cheaper version. I’ve purchased three of these vacuums for myself and my two daughters. #Model: AZ3002 $279. Or the newer version with extra attachments Model: LA492 $349. The first one is good and probably only difference is attachments and other features that don’t really make a difference. I wouldn’t get cheaper than the $279. One bc of the powered head that fully detaches with powered head/beater brush that cleans much better then the wind powered other models & they don’t really distinguish the powered head difference in the models……hope that makes sense. I also have the Dyson v15 stick vacuum and to be honest the shark does a better job but the cord and not as cool …….
We have 4 French fur goblins whose some purposes in life are playing ball and producing hair! We have some through more Dysons than I care to admit. They constantly clog & the hair destroys the bristles. So we stitched to Shark & it’s a game changer. Absolutely love it! Just ordered a second one for the lower floor since it was on sale for Prime Day. It’s the shark detect performance lift away advanced w duo clean! A mouthful but it works SO well. Figured if I hate it or it poops out quickly Costco has a great return policy.
Costco, just recently purchased the shark detect performance.
People seem to really like Shark Detect C&E. They're on sale now; it's what I ordered. I know this sub is Sebo or bust, but I think a Shark would fit your needs. We had a poor experience with a budget level Dyson so I'm staying away as a replacement.
Same price range, would return that and but the miele. I will say i got mine for 100$ on a liquidation website. But it beats my shark pet detect pro by a mile.
I have own three sharks. I think the first was the NV210, it was a tank. Lasted us ten years but I kept it and filters clean, and I abused it by cleaning up pea stone, Dry wall dust, and banging into wood trim. Good cheap vacuum. The second was the rechargeable stick. Not great. Poor suction, terrible battery, very difficult to clean. Only lasted three years, including one battery swap. Would not buy again. The third is our current plug-in vacuum. Shark lift away with the power odor eliminator pod. It’s decent, but the brushhead is weird, it takes its time to wind up to full speed. It’s a different roller than a typical beater brush and apparently doesn’t get hair stuck around it. Good suction for the price, I was very wary of dropping a grand for a vacuum after I had such good years with our previous shark. haven’t needed to work on it much yet and I have a wet/dry vacuum now for house projects. I spent a lot of time in this sub last November prior to decide on the best vacuum. My wife was adamant she wanted a standup, she wanted battery powered (to replace the shark mentioned above) but I was able to convince her to relax on this requirement. And she wanted bagless, this couldn’t sway her. After a time of tolerating the shark rechargeable I had enough and tossed it. This past week I bought a Dyson v15 refurbished on Amazon, it was brand new and works great so far although it my wife mentioned it doesn’t handle pea stone well dragged in by two doodles from our garden. She’s beyond happy so I’m happy. However now I want a better plug-in vacuum. She’s a quick mess cleaner, I’m a deep cleaner, and the new shark is not a vacuum I’d buy again. I probably would buy a Miele C1.
My experience is similar but not fair. My brother has a Dyson battery powered and he swears by them. So he buys a new one every four years or so. We had our first coffee shark for at least ten years. I shopped for months last year between Dyson, shark, Mielle, and another he and like Mielle I cannot remember their name. Anyway, after using them all it came down to a formula from my Public policy class - I could get almost 90% of the performance from a shark for only $249, or spend $700 for 100%. I was willing to spend up to $1000 but it just didn’t make sense. Shark gets everything I need at a fraction of the cost.
I hope i dont get crucified here but I purchased a Shark ADV Lift away vacuum from Costco for $320. The ADV version is apparently better. I have super super plush carpets and any vacuum I tried always struggled. I took extra carpet to try out miele and even that one got kind of stuck on the carpet. The Shark glides on it even on max suction. I had to empty the canister like 6 or 7 times in a 2400sqft house where I've lived for only a year. Weekly vacuums. Stairs. All of it. It felt gross knowing how bad my carpets were with my last vacuum. The stairs are carpeted and work very well with the power pet attachment I can't speak for longevity. I'll update you in 5 years My goal is a Sebo 4 which is $1300 new. Used is about 1/4 - 1/3 of that price but the warranty makes up for the cost difference
My first shark lasted 15 years until it just didn't suck enough (pun intended). Granted, I didn't have a ton of carpet but we do have a kid and cats. The one I have now I got from my dad when I had to move him into memory care. It's nearing 10 years old. Probably didn't get a ton of use by him. Still works fine, although I don't like this model as much as the OG lift away I had. Clean the canister and clean/replace the filters and it does fine.
Dyson cordless (I forget which model exactly, but it was a mid tier one) just couldn't handle the capacity and the roller constantly needed hair cut off of it. Then we had a Shark lift away of some kind from costco, and the gear that spun the brush roll wore out so the brush didn't spin at all.
