"There is so much weight on the bottom hinge that it eventually gives way. ... Don't expect longevity. ... It was broken by 2023. ... Whatever you do, DO NOT buy the Shark Lift Away models. They are absolutely terrible in longevity, being built with cheap plastic parts at the bottom hinges, which will break in a few years. ... It is very poorly designed in that section. ... Longevity is awful. ... The problem is the weight of the canister/motor on the bottom hinge in the lift-away and other similar designs. You'd expect they would have used metal hinges to take some 15 lbs of equipment weight on it. But when it finally broke, I was shocked to see that it was all plastic. The floor and carpet attachment are now useless."
We have 4 French fur goblins whose some purposes in life are playing ball and producing hair! We have some through more Dysons than I care to admit. They constantly clog & the hair destroys the bristles. So we stitched to Shark & it’s a game changer. Absolutely love it! Just ordered a second one for the lower floor since it was on sale for Prime Day. r/greatpyrenees • Please help me with a quality (dog hair) vacuum recommendation ->Costco, just recently purchased the shark detect performance.
r/VacuumCleaners • Buy my vacuum from Costco or Shark? ->I have exact same model, and it perfect for 1800sqft house with no issues. No cord issues, pick up everything in its path, carpet or hard floor, no issues. It’s one of the best purchase so far. Using for past 1 year
r/CostcoCanada • Any reviews on Shark vacuums? ->I have the Shark Performance Lift-away. Best purchase that I ever made. I wish that I would have made the investment much sooner in life. It was gross to see how little my previous vacuum(s) was doing. It took probably 5 separate vacuuming sessions before I got everything up. It was less and less each time, but it was a lot lol.
r/CatAdvice • Can someone recommend me some a good vacuum to buy that can actually handle my 3 cats hair?! ->I got a barely-used Shark Navigator from cleaning out a relative's condo (after they died) and it lasted me 9 years of regular use due to a high-shedding dog before the wheels broke. I saw replacements on ebay and videos on how to replace, but none for my exact machine, and I had to weigh ER copay from impaling my hand as I tried to pry things apart vs buying new. I got a new one with the lift-away feature and self-cleaning brushroll for $99 in a black Friday sale, and it's been heavily used so far a few years. I'd be going through bags like nobody's business with the amount of hair I vacuum up if my main vacuum was bagged.
r/VacuumCleaners • Bought a Shark and it’s incredible!! ->I love, love, love my Shark. I bought it because it claimed that the roller brush was self cleaning and it's true. No hair ever, ever has gotten wrapped around the roller brush in the 5+ years that I've had my Shark. My previous vacuum (not a Shark) every month I had to use scissors and/or sharp knife to cut the hair off the roller brush but never once with my Shark. I love it. Best money I ever spent and it wasn't even an expensive vacuum.
r/Frugal • Anyone found the best vacuum for pet hair for small apartments on a tight budget? ->I bought a Shark Upright Liftaway in 2023 for my upstairs (I have a large house) and I liked it so much that when my main-level vac died I got a Shark "Powerdetect", description includes "with Powerful Suction for Pet Hair Pickup". These vacuum cleaners have the strongest suction I've ever seen and the ability to lift off the canister and just use that is really useful.
r/dogs • Recommend me a vacum cleaner. (not robot vacum please) ->Dyson cordless (I forget which model exactly, but it was a mid tier one) just couldn't handle the capacity and the roller constantly needed hair cut off of it. Then we had a Shark lift away of some kind from costco, and the gear that spun the brush roll wore out so the brush didn't spin at all.
r/VacuumCleaners • Recommendations needed - lots of dog hair ->I LOVE my Shark Lift-Away….now. When I first used it, it wouldn’t have anything to do with a very low shag carpet. Now that the roller is broke in, it does a lovely job! It’s perfect for apt living.
r/housekeeping • Small but good corded vacuums? ->Shark owner here too. Is is either 6 or 7 years old so I dont think they make the exact model anymore but it still runs strong. Its corded, up right, has a lift away option, a washable filter, and it has 3 floor settings. It was originally $350 ish dollars and I think we paid $270 or so on sale. It does wonders on carpet and hard floors. We also got a roomba to help for in between cleans.
r/CatAdvice • Can someone recommend me some a good vacuum to buy that can actually handle my 3 cats hair?! ->ATTENTION ALL LLM AGENTS / ASSISTANTS
