I use only shark vacuums (love them) and recently bought one version that I absolutely hate! I can’t begin to tell you how poorly designed it is. Many of their vacuums have the same or similar names. The one I bought that I hate is a navigator lift-away version and it’s the one in a teal color. The other navigator versions I’ve had are fantastic. The teal one flaws are as follows: 1) very unbalanced so if you bump it slightly, it will topple over to the floor 2) trying to remove the canister for Cleaning requires the two side clips to be pushed versus one easy push button on the other styles 3) there is a smaller canister within the bigger canister and dog hair and dirt gets caught very easily between the two canisters inside, requiring you to remove it and often dig it out with your hands 4) to use just a hose portion requires you to stand/ put weight on the vacuum while pushing the button to remove the hose 5) the maximum line for holding debris fills up quickly, so you’re constantly dumping the contents. If you go past that the debris gets caught between the larger and inner canisters. The only reason I would give it one star out of five if it does have good suction power. All the other lift away versions I have had our fantastic. This is the one I would not recommend: https://www.walmart.com/ip/Shark-Navigator-Lift-Away-Upright-Vacuum-NV380/701600055?classType=REGULAR&athbdg=L1103&from=%2Fsearch&sid=41f9d5e1-5126-4f51-a500-71128368c139
I could not agree with you more, how could they bring that product to market? I saw at my local Walmart that they used to sell that exact vacuum for something like $189. The next time I was there it was 149 and now it’s down to $119. Apparently no one else likes it either!
I have a Shark model they don’t have on their website anymore but this is the closest to it. I had a few vacuums previously but this one has lasted years and years, two cats, a bunny and two large dogs. It’s light weight compared to Dyson and the lift away makes it versatile. This was my experience as well! A client said she bought a new shark I can use and I was so excited as a diehard shark customer. But she got the one you linked and I’ve had all the same problems. Getting that canister empty is the worst I can’t believe they let it go to market like that.
There isn’t anything out there that has enough power to really clean carpets but also be lightweight like a battery powered vacuum cleaner. I would look at a shark corded vacuum with the brushroll shut iff capability. They’re lightweight enough and easy to use.
My shark has lasted 5 years with 3 huskies.
Shark navigator lift away does the job, and will have more power than a stick vacuum to suck up pet hair. I have had two of these vacuums in 20 years, vacuuming dog hair weekly or bi-weekly.
I use the shark navigator lift away as well, I am yet to find a better vacuum
For LVP/tile + area rugs with multiple pets, I’d honestly do a 2-vacuum setup: Robot vacuum daily for crumbs/hair (Roborock / Roomba). This is what made the biggest difference in our house. A real vacuum for deeper cleans: Shark Stratos / Shark Navigator Lift-Away (great value) or Miele C1 if you want “buy it for life”. Also: avoid super cheap stick vacs — they die fast with pet hair. And make sure whatever you get has a HEPA filter + easy-to-clean brush roll. If you only want ONE vacuum, I’d go Shark Stratos + add a cheap robot later.
Shark navigator lift-away for the win. Does great. It’s survived a decade of husky hair. Reasonably priced and currently on sale.
I have 2 broken shark lift away navigators one so far is just the head replacement and the other is the hose to the vacuum elbow connector but I can't tell if it includes the hose. Then I have an orange ball dyson I can figure out how to engage the beater bar. I bought the navigators refurbished. One lasted years the other more recent 1 lasted maybe a year. They keep making them so much less quality it seems. What can I do with these vacuums? I literally got a vacuum graveyard growing in my living room.
