I use only shark vacuums (love them) and recently bought one version that I absolutely hate! I can’t begin to tell you how poorly designed it is. Many of their vacuums have the same or similar names. The one I bought that I hate is a navigator lift-away version and it’s the one in a teal color. The other navigator versions I’ve had are fantastic. The teal one flaws are as follows: 1) very unbalanced so if you bump it slightly, it will topple over to the floor 2) trying to remove the canister for Cleaning requires the two side clips to be pushed versus one easy push button on the other styles 3) there is a smaller canister within the bigger canister and dog hair and dirt gets caught very easily between the two canisters inside, requiring you to remove it and often dig it out with your hands 4) to use just a hose portion requires you to stand/ put weight on the vacuum while pushing the button to remove the hose 5) the maximum line for holding debris fills up quickly, so you’re constantly dumping the contents. If you go past that the debris gets caught between the larger and inner canisters. The only reason I would give it one star out of five if it does have good suction power. All the other lift away versions I have had our fantastic. This is the one I would not recommend: https://www.walmart.com/ip/Shark-Navigator-Lift-Away-Upright-Vacuum-NV380/701600055?classType=REGULAR&athbdg=L1103&from=%2Fsearch&sid=41f9d5e1-5126-4f51-a500-71128368c139
I could not agree with you more, how could they bring that product to market? I saw at my local Walmart that they used to sell that exact vacuum for something like $189. The next time I was there it was 149 and now it’s down to $119. Apparently no one else likes it either!
I have a Shark model they don’t have on their website anymore but this is the closest to it. I had a few vacuums previously but this one has lasted years and years, two cats, a bunny and two large dogs. It’s light weight compared to Dyson and the lift away makes it versatile. This was my experience as well! A client said she bought a new shark I can use and I was so excited as a diehard shark customer. But she got the one you linked and I’ve had all the same problems. Getting that canister empty is the worst I can’t believe they let it go to market like that.
We just got our uv3900 from Costco delivered last week (bought online via costco.com). It's been fantastic and we have similar floors and living situation. It's very strong suction and you need to get used to it vacuuming both pushing forward and pulling the vacuum backwards. We switch it to hardwood floors mode for our lighter rugs, and that works great. We don't have local sebo or miele dealers, so unfortunately for us they were a no go. If we have issues with the shark vacuum, Costco will stand behind the product. Which is why we buy through costco. Good luck!
I have a shark vacuum with a cord. It’s powerful, the filters are easy to clean, it swivels, its bag less and skinny.
There isn’t anything out there that has enough power to really clean carpets but also be lightweight like a battery powered vacuum cleaner. I would look at a shark corded vacuum with the brushroll shut iff capability. They’re lightweight enough and easy to use.
If considering Miele, also consider Sebo. Think Dyson gets dinged for longevity, particularly considering its price. Project Farm does excellent reviews. Just remember the vacuums are new. A person who does repairs will have an additional viewpoint based on what is brought in. My Shark Navigator (7 yr old) brush roll failed. Pulled out a Eureka (bag 20 years old). The Eureka did a much better job on my carpet. The Shark is much easier to maneuver and handle. Have been looking and watching many videos. My impression in the comments is quality has decreased for many brands. People had older models last much longer than their more recent models. All from the same brand. But there are also people with the same brand who have had theirs for quite some time. So, it is hit and miss. Think I just read that Dyson is not made to be repaired. Commenter said it was apparent that the plastic shell was closed (have to break the tab to open it) and then the soldering was done. IOWs it was designed to be assembled; not disassembled and repaired. This criticism is appearing more and more frequently. For example, Shark is considered disposable - it’s the “disposable lighter” of vacuums. I’m on the fence. I’m debating the point made below - is it worth paying more for a more durable and easier to repair machine or pay less and expect to replace it after the warranty expires. I’ve also watched Performance Reviews. Recommend his videos.
Shark Lift Away, Navigator or professional series - all the way. If you’re looking for a lightweight, versatile and powerhouse suction. I have pets, it does the job. I’ve used Dyson, Hoover, Bissell and never looked back, got rid of the clunkers

Love this! Vacuum: Shark, any model with a Lift-Away. Mainly I find Sharks are lightweight, the lift-away from the base with the attachments makes cleaning easier. Suction is the best on the market IMO so I don’t have to second guess the clean and redo ✅ Dupray Neat: high temp steam clean. Multipurpose, less scrubbing for chemical free cleaning. Can also use on stovetop, grout, sanitize, any material that can take that heat. Originally got it to kill potential bedbugs on luggage but that ended up ok 😬 Don’t spend a lot on cleaners… When you have to scrub, makes it light scrubbing: Cleaning caked on stove grease - HOT water & good old fashion Dawn ultra or Dawn platinum (plus+ too). A little goes a long way. I’ve thrown away the awful stove cleaner, couldn’t believe it. I use this for almost everything, just wiped down the vinyl fence that was looking grimy with this, for real! Now squeaky clean. Mop: Cedar with the step-on to wring. Bend less. Very lightweight and just wonderful! When there’s trouble opening jars, turn it upside down and hard tap the bottom, releasing the pressure and it’s easier. Gravity does the work. Best to all 💜
