"The self cleaning brush rolls with the built-in combs to keep hair and fluff off ARE legit too, and actually do work very well for that purpose."

"Worked super well until my dumbass was holding it in a stupid way and dropped it from several feet up. Even so, it's repairable, just one of those project we haven't quite got to. Very much reccommend."
"I can attest to them as I've owned two, and the first one I got second-hand. The only reason I had to get a new Shark was because my springer chewed on the cord one day when he was 2 years old."
"I also have a near decade old shark navigator that still works like the day I bought it."

"I then bought the 3m model Navigator, which lasted a year before it stopped working completely ... and finally tried out the old faithful, base Navigator, didn 't even make it 6 months."
"There is so much weight on the bottom hinge that it eventually gives way. ... Don't expect longevity. ... It was broken by 2023. ... Whatever you do, DO NOT buy the Shark Lift Away models. They are absolutely terrible in longevity, being built with cheap plastic parts at the bottom hinges, which will break in a few years. ... It is very poorly designed in that section. ... Longevity is awful. ... The problem is the weight of the canister/motor on the bottom hinge in the lift-away and other similar designs. You'd expect they would have used metal hinges to take some 15 lbs of equipment weight on it. But when it finally broke, I was shocked to see that it was all plastic. The floor and carpet attachment are now useless."
"I used it fairly gently for maybe a year or so then it bricked itself. ... It's just dead. ... Seems like poorly built garbage."

Yup Shark Navigator Pet is my go to cleaner. I use it a lot (commercially) so usually buy a new one every year or so. It’s a great value machine and every bit as good as a Dyson. Also, the brush roller never gets clogged!
r/CleaningTips • Are Dyson vacuums worth it? ->Have used Dyson in the past, I thought it was fine. Then we got a really fluffy cat and I realised two days after her arrival that we needed a muuuuuuch better vacuum. Bought a Shark Navigator Pet Vacuum - it’s been awesome and totally worth the money. I don’t think they’re sold at Briscoe - we got ours on sale at PB Tech.
r/newzealand • Briscoes sale - vacuum cleaner recommendations please!! ->Well,I did it. I walked into a vacuum cleaner store and repair shop just to see this Sebo upright people refer to. I had already ordered a Kenmore BU4050 based on reviews although I have never seen one. I've been through every vacuum type imaginable in the last - ahem - 40 years. Starting with Electrolux canister on glider rails, a family hand-me-down. Dirt Devil tiny little canister. Hoover upright, Sanitaire commercial upright, Miele stick vac with removable handheld dustbuster thing, Miele canister. Had a Dyson V5 for when the canister was too heavy to pull out. Shark Navigator Pet upright - nimble, easy to use, went under bed - I liked it for a long time but slider for floor type change got stuck and it all those plastic parts got a little rickety. I learned: While cordless is quick and easy, it's also weak suction. Sanitair upright cleaned well on carpet but no accessories. Dysons are pretty colored plastic but all marketing, hurts my wrist, went through 2 batteries, just top heavy, and poor suction. Miele corded stick vacuum had very strong suction but was too heavy and center of mass is midway up so awkward unless you are very strong and was not self standing. Miele canister is great but all those accessories take up a lot of space and I'm over moving canisters around and banging the wall. Bagless was good as a novelty but so messy - the vacuum itself attracted dust and emptying always led to some dust on me. So I wanted a bagged, corded, self-standing, upright that had a low center of gravity, was nimble, no too heavy, and could go under the bed. Even though the sales guy was enthusiastic and informative but not pushy, the Sebo Felix sold itself. I bought the Sebo Felix even though I wasn't going there to buy, just see it. It does every thing I want and is much quieter. 10 year warranty, locally serviced by "Onyx" dealer \[that's what they call official dealers\], give loaner vacs if it takes more than 3 days. The store has been there 26 years, first the father and now the son owns it. They repair every brand of vacuum but only sell Sebo, Miele, and some in-the-wall systems. When I think of all the money I've spend on vacuums .... The good ones were Electrolux, Miele, Sanitaire, and for a while the Shark impressed me. Now I hope the Sebo will be my last vacuum. $700 US, price goes up $200 on September 25 due to tariffs. Dealer said he's sold 17 of them this month from special orders I will return the Kenmore BU4050 unopened when it arrives.
r/VacuumCleaners • Here's why you should buy a Sebo ->Never buy a Bissell. While their higher end models have excellent filtration (HEPA filters and sealed systems) the only problem is you can't wash them. Every Bissell I've had, I find if you wash their "washable" filters, they stink after. Like the exhaust will smell like wet musky dog. So it's best to replace them. Never had experience with Hoover. But both Bissell and Hoover are low quality compared to Shark, Dyson and Miele. Dysons offer great raw suction, however I don't care for the canisters. After a period of use, you'll have to clean those cyclones as they'll get full of dust. Also, they aren't that good on high pile carpeting or rugs (they're difficult to handle on high pile carpeting and they tend to get door rugs sucked up into the brush roll). I used to run Sharks. I actually collected a few. I had an old model I salvaged that worked good on carpets, I had one of the first powered lift aways. That was my all time favorite because it worked the best especially on carpets of all heights, not good on door rugs because the rug would get stuck in the brush roll due to the suction, did well on hard floors, not as good as their duo clean models. I had 2 different duo cleans (one powered lift away one not) you definitely want the powered lift away model. It'll clean under your beds unlike the regular lift away (I had the la500 that wasn't a powered lift away, I loved it. The power fins don't get hair tangles like a traditional brush roll and the duo clean cleaned my hard floors amazing, but the powered lift away I'd use to clean under beds) one of the best things about the power fins is vacuuming your mattress. If you've never done this, then I'd highly recommend the Shark Vertex or Stratos. You'll be absolutely disgusted at what it pulls out your mattress. I no longer use a bagless vacuum though. I recently had the privilege of salvaging a mid 90s Oreck. When I salvage and fix a vacuum, I always would test it on my carpet and see how it preforms against my Shark Nv752 and if they'd do well I'd keep them (sometimes I'd sell them if I didn't want it), well I used the Oreck first then went behind it with the Shark nv752 and the canister was empty. So I was disappointed my shark wasn't as good as a bagged vacuum. I bought a Kenmore Intuition and put it up against my nv752 and it also did better than the Shark. So I ended up selling 3 of my sharks and gave the 752 to my grandmother to replace her old shark nv501. She loves it and she says it's good enough for her needs and it worked better than her old one. The good thing about going to a good quality bagged vacuum is not having to clean the filters ever month and not having to dump the canister after every use. So far (after 4 months of having the Oreck and Kenmore), I rather the Oreck for carpets and I rather their HEPA bags because you get literally no smell. The Kenmore I find will have a bit of a smell after sitting up between uses. However I suck up some downy crystals every so often, but they make special odor elimination tablets for bagged vacuums. So they are pretty much low maintenance compared to bagless. Idk your budget, but if I were in your shoes, these are the exact 2 vacuums I'd recommend for you: the Shark AZ2002 Vertex (if you want bagless, comes with a crevice tool, dusting/upholstery tool and I do believe it comes with an air powered turbo tool) or the Kenmore 81615 (if you want bagged, it's a canister vacuum so it'll be lighter for you to handle and great accessories. It comes with a multi floor power head, a hard floor only attachment, crevice tool, dusting brush and a motorized mini brush roll - a motorized version of a turbo tool). Both would be great multi floor options, the advantage of the shark vertex is the power fins so no hair tangled brush roll, and it'll clean your mattress amazing, the advantage of the Kenmore is you have 2 floor cleaning tools so it'll be better of a multi surface cleaner and it has a motorized turbo tool instead of air powered compared to the Shark. If you want one for the shark you have to buy it separately for like 40- 50 dollars. Price wise, the Shark AZ2002 costs about $420, the Kenmore costs $312 (prices brand new on Amazon). Personally if I were you, I'd go with the Kenmore for the better accessories and slightly cheaper price. Plus no big box store sells them. You have to get it via Amazon or on the Kenmore website. I hope this info helps and sorry it was so much lol. Please let me know what you chose to get and I'd love to hear how it works for you
r/VacuumCleaners • Looking for the Best Vacuum Cleaner that Actually Lasts? ->I have a Shark Navigator with Self-Cleaning Brush Roll. I have long hair that gets everywhere. Have had this vacuum for 5+ years, and have never had to clean the brush. It's only about $200.
r/CleaningTips • Vacuum for long hair ->Newer dysons and shark have tangle free brush bars and there actually work!
r/CleaningTips • Vacuum for long hair ->Sebo powerhead. So incredibly easy to clean. I also had great luck with the Shark duoclean powerfin system but the actual vacuum was a dumpster file. Didn’t last a year. I also learned I prefer bagged vacuums to help trap and contain the allergies, dust, hair. My Sebo canister has four levels of filtering on it. My Dyson smells like it has none.
r/VacuumCleaners • Best vacuum for pet hair in 2025? Need something that actually sucks (in a good way) ->Shark. The one that’s for pets with two roller. It’s a beast. I have a golden retriever, a lab mix and a cat. I brush everybody every day but still my vacuum fills the huge canister every other day!
r/CatAdvice • Can someone recommend me some a good vacuum to buy that can actually handle my 3 cats hair?! ->I got a shark pet with a self cleaning roller on it. It works great and then I have a vacuum grooming tool to brush my boy with once a week
r/roughcollies • Vacuum suggestions? (the fur never ends) ->I had to look it up, that's actually the one I have, CU530, mine is gray. I thought I got a deal when I got mine for $100, WOW!! Good find! I got it as a replacement for one of the full size power fin duo clean models, I actually liked that one way better especially for hard flooring. I was careless and got too close to the edge of a blanket, which wrapped around the front roller and snapped all the gears like, the second time I used it. I would have fixed it honestly, but the whole thing was riveted together so I couldn't. I was slightly unethical and returned it to the store, told them it simply made an awful sound and stopped working 😂. They didn't have the same one since it was clearance, so I chose one closest in price for the exchange. I do use my Windsor/Sebo more just because the cord is longer and I can go under stuff easier, and it filters better, and it's wider. I also find the hose lighter and more manageable to use and I like the attachment for furniture better. That particular shark, the exhaust blows straight up into my face and it bothers my eyes too much to use it for long (I stick an envelope in there to deflect it, lol). I have a dog, 2 cats, thick carpet in most of the rooms, and allergies lol, we pretty much sweep daily or every other day. My mom actually Can't sweep anymore, her back is too bad and she can't see the floor. Her dog has long fluffy hair and sheds ridiculously and her and my dad drop EVERYTHING on the floor. I got her one of those powerfin sharks (which I now use when I go help out at their house) and it still impresses me with how much it pulls up from the carpeting there.
