so i got the [shark navigator lift-away (nv352)](https://oklookup.com/review/shark-navigator-lift-away-vacuum/) a while back and honestly, it’s been pretty solid for my mix of carpets and hardwood. really love how you can detach the canister for cleaning under stuff, makes it super easy. the suction is really strong too, like picks up dust and crumbs without needing a bunch of passes. but, like, the cord is kinda short which can be annoying if you’ve got a big room. also, the dust bin fills up fast, so you gotta empty it often. overall tho, it’s been reliable for me. just my two cents!

The new shark power detect is awesome with the auto empty base but a bit out of your price range. If you want a really cheap one as a secondary I’d recommend smoture (vacuum wars tested it and it actually looks pretty great for the price) and you could get a $199 upright shark from Costco while staying in your price range. Costco is great because sharks aren’t very repairable so being able to return 2 years later is great if you have a membership. Having an upright and a cordless is the way to go, deep clean every week or two with the upright then use the cordless for daily pick ups

At this budget just get something with sealed HEPA or it’s not worth it for allergies. The Shark Navigator Lift-Away NV352 is the safest pick. good on carpet, has sealed HEPA, and the lift-away is great for couches. Stuff like the Bissell CleanView Swivel Pet cleans hair well but won’t help allergies as much.

Back before I discovered this sub, I, idiotically, purchased (luckily on sale) a shark nv352 for $120 or so based on vacuum wars so heavily recommending it as a budget pick in so many videos. I really don't like the vacuum. It's suction is okay, but sticks to my carpet way too hard and the brush roll will shut off unless I open the manual relief valve wide open (due to no height adjustment). When I do that, it doesn't suck stuff up that well, and I have to vacuum under the rugs because shit just gets packed in and falls through. The shit separator also gets the filters filthy insanely fast, and the canister fills up after doing 1-3 rugs, especially from all the hair that gets caught on the nub in the waste canister. If I were to do it all over again, I probably would have just got a kenmore 31150 or similar bagged unit. It seems to be everything I'm looking for. I feel like such an idiot, oh well. I'm waiting for its death but now that I say that it's going to last 7 years.

Shark Navigator https://amzn.to/4l4n4dv it’s powerful machine that works on both carpet and hard floors surfaces. It’s bagless and the pod is detachable so you can hard to reach areas more easily

I agree with the elitism. And I'm a huge Shark fan. Have been for 15 years or so. My nv350 went on for 12 years....only died cause I dropped it down the stairs. I got two Sharks from Walmart on clearance, one for $85 (zu561) and one for $65 (nv360). Those two will probably last me the next 20 years. But I also have three cats and wanted to see what the hype was about. I found a two year old Sebo D4 Premium for basically $480. That is way more than I'd ever want to spend on a vacuum. I can afford it by all means but like you I could never justify it. The other side of me loves electronics and wanting the best of the best. And I do have to say.....the Sebo is incredible. Value is subjective so for me I do see a difference in the amount of dust and cat hair left over after a week of vacuuming with each. And the difference on carpet and what it pulls up. But its also a whole different ball game using a canister vacuum vs plugging in a vacuum and just going. Not having to worry about what suction level or head and attachment I'm using. So I do have some respect and awareness of the other side.

The Shark. Hands down. The last one lasted me over 12 years. Nv352. I just had this a couple months ago. As long as you keep it clean and keep the filters clean.... It'll run like a champ. But it's not for hard floor surfaces. It doesn't have a strip under it to block debris from kicking back on hard floor surfaces. So if you have any hard floors you can shut the brushroll off but it's average at best. Also the wheels will leave marks if it's hardwood.
