I got a Shark Clean & Empty Cordless Stick with Motorized Hand Tool about 6 weeks ago. I love it. It has a standing charging dock so you don’t have to hang it on the wall. When you put it on the charging dock, it automatically empties the vacuum into the base. You can also remove the handle/motor portion of the vac and it becomes a small handheld vac, which I love. Oh, and it also automatically senses if you are vacuuming on carpet or hard floors and automatically adjusts the settings for you.

Vacuum wars does not test for durability, longevity, ease of maintainence, or availability of replacement parts. Frankly I wouldn't waste your money on either of those models. The shark has a total of 6 filters you have to clean monthly. 3 in the vac, 3 in the "self empty" base. It's a ton of maintainence. And it still won't perform well enough to be your main deep cleaning vac. If you want a stick vac for quick cleaning, something like a dyson v8 is a cheaper and better choice. And lower maintainence. Plus you can actually get replacement parts for the dyson. As for the robot option, I'd probably go ask the robot vac sub. Personally I'd avoid anything ecovacs and look at roborock or eufy. And even then, be prepared for your investment to possibly only last 5 years or so. I think nearly everyone on this sub would strongly advise that you have a proper, good corded vacuum for deeper cleaning and consider cordless and robotic models as accessories for daily upkeep.

Shark Cordless Power Detect Clean and Empty. I love it. Easy to use. I had a Dyson v10 I bought from Costco and it died in 6mos. I returned it. All of the shark vacuums I've owned have lasted years. My rotator went 10 years. This one is obviously new. I also I have a corded shark stratos that's been going for about 3 years.

Lots of people may be against Shark but I just bought one of these with the auto-empty and it rocks. Have an husky-type dog and a cat so it's used several times a day. Not having to constantly charge the battery and empty the bin makes me happy.

For something quick, cordless, and you won't have to worry about emptying the bin every time you use it, the Shark Powerdetect Clean and Empty will work for you. Not going to tout it has some buy it for life product, but they have a 5 year warranty. Much better than a lot of 1 year warranties you'll see in this segment of vacuums.

For what it's worth, my wife and I love our Powerdetect, it works great on hard flooring because of the brush roller instead of only having bristle rollers. It's great for hair, we've never seen it tangle. It's not perfect, the battery is good enough for at least 2,500-3,000 sq ft of hard flooring in one go. The auto detect for edge detection and heavier dust is pretty good, it works better than I thought it would.

V15 - ours is 3 - 4 yrs old. No problems. Our Shark needed a new power nozzle in less than 6 of use because the brush roll ripped, and it’s not replaceable by itself. You have to replace the entire power head. On the Dyson, way more individual parts are replaceable including the brush roll, so it’s definitely more serviceable and repairable. Therefore, the V15 is the most dependable. Just make sure to fully charge it before turning it on. Wash the filter monthly, replace annually. Wash brush rolls, dust bin periodically, blow out cyclone periodically. It has more suction than 99% if other vacuums and the carpet cleaning is admirable - impressive for a stick.

Second this model. It picks up so much from just one pass over all our surfaces (hardwood, tile, and wool-loop). We love it, and Sharks product support is also awesome. Called to ask a question about cleaning and they literally have someone domestic sitting at a desk ready to go through a service manual with you. Also was the top pick on Vacuum Wars

https://www.sharkclean.com/products/shark-cordless-powerdetect-clean-empty-system-zidIP3251 We got this one after having a cordless stick Dyson for a while. This battery life is 100 times better than the Dyson. Dyson does have a new one that’s battery life is apparently awesome, but I don’t have it so I can’t speak on it. This vacuum is great and the auto empty feature makes it so that you don’t forget to empty it after every use which makes the filters smelly.

Shark power detect. Game changer in affordable(kinda, still like $400-$500) cordless vacuums. Since you spoke about animals. MAKE SURE YOU GET THE ONE THAT AUTO EMPTIES!! It saves the filters and plastics from absorbing the pet smell(that is what causes that funky smell everytime you turn the vacuum on) because it auto empty’s after every single use. https://www.sharkclean.com/products/shark-cordless-powerdetect-clean-empty-system-zidIP3251?utm_source=GOOGLE&utm_medium=cpla&utm_campaign=Shark_DTC_CordlessStick_Shopping_Brand_Google&utm_adgroup=PowerDetect&utm_content=cordless-stick&utm_term=PRODUCT_GROUP&gclsrc=aw.ds&gad_source=1&gad_campaignid=20649415808&gbraid=0AAAAADofSimwk4HHdgNlB-1ht7EsCSarS&gclid=Cj0KCQjwuKnGBhD5ARIsAD19RsYKKpU1wrKWVyyZrr4f0MADSfBi6r8OWGhex0Q44tvRIG-hV7y-CNgaApSIEALw_wcB

A lot of the power detect sticks are corded which a lot of folks miss. These ones are not corded [Shark PowerDetect](https://amzn.to/4mE23qW). The Startos in my opinion is stronger and more consistent when it comes to suction and the PowerDetect is more convenient (auto-empty, smart detection) but comes with weaker suction.

The new shark power detect is awesome with the auto empty base but a bit out of your price range. If you want a really cheap one as a secondary I’d recommend smoture (vacuum wars tested it and it actually looks pretty great for the price) and you could get a $199 upright shark from Costco while staying in your price range. Costco is great because sharks aren’t very repairable so being able to return 2 years later is great if you have a membership. Having an upright and a cordless is the way to go, deep clean every week or two with the upright then use the cordless for daily pick ups

Yep, terrible. Lasted a year and was utterly useless in the end. Replaced with a Shark Power Detect and going well so far, but that battery goes flat too quickly so I need to get another to alternate

I’ve got it and I know this sub hates shark but honestly I love it, idk if you’re looking at the self emptying one but if you are it’s amazing and makes it always ready to go, empty bin and charged but I’m also impressed with the battery and power. Most of the time I use it in the auto mode but sometimes I use it all in boost and it still lasts and gets everything out the carpet. I can usually do my whole house on one charge and that’s enough for me. Weird quirk about it and I’m not sure if its the tool or a weird configuration with the power modes but using the “pet tool” on the stairs makes it drain power really quick, like 40% for 14 stairs. The only other thing is that it requires a bit more maintenance than usual but that’s just rinsing the filters, in my opinion I say that’s fine, literally just rinse it and let it dry a day I know I’m horrible at explaining stuff but for a 2 story house with a mix of hard flooring and carpet it works just fine and safe to say it is very convenient to not lug around a heavy unit with a cable that gets in the way

I'd go for the dual head, but I didn't want the auto empty canister because I didn't have a good place to keep it.

I have no idea how the brush roll does on hard floors by itself. I would do some research on that. I bought a refurbished powerdetect with the duo head on Ebay for $180, and I am verry happy with it. I really don't know how much the soft roll helps on hard floors, but I didn't want the auto empty because I don't have a good place for it.

It really depends on the price you can get each one for. I just picked up a refurbished PowerDetect cordless for $180 with a 2 year warranty. I also picked up a Narwal s20 recently as well. Combined, these two items are half the price of the V15s.

Out of those two, I'd go with the Shark Powerdetect. I just got one and I like it so far. Spare parts can be found for Shark vacuums, and prices drop for the replacement parts the longer the vacuum has been on the market. I don't have any flex in the hinge either. The hinge makes the vacuum fold up really small for easy storage, and it makes it really easy to vacuum under things. The other vacuum seems to be a generic brand so who knows how easily you will get support for it or if you can buy replacement parts when needed.

Avoid Shark Power detect at all cost - it does a terrible job on the carpets, not easy to move & keeps getting stuck, tried even with the eco mode, it will not work on carpets, called the customer service & the answer i got was that my carpets were not compatible with the vacuum & they can not do anything about it, so now it sits in the garage (500+$ junk)

Ive used my shark maybe 5 times... There's a magnet for self empty... gets stuck open by metal bits. There seems to be a clog behind the rollers... EVERYTIME I use it. This was supposed to be easier because it weighed less. I'm very disappointed.

I've had a Shark PowerDetect with suction station for about 3 weeks now and I'm really happy with the device. Suction power roughly on the level of a Gen5Detect (various strengths and weaknesses), a suction station, a combined brush for hard floors and carpet that works great (forwards and backwards). Lighting, automatic detection of the surface. I paid 380 euros. I'm pretty happy with it.

I have the roborock Qrevo Pro (called the S5V now i think), and I really like its vacuum and mopping ability. I was able to ditch my old mop because of it, but you still need a powerful vacuum if you have carpets, because a robot can’t vacuum all that deep. That being said, I think you have conflicting requirements there, adhoc cleaning and deep cleaning. I think you should split the two. My adhoc cleaner is a small battery powered Shark vacuum that i spent 80 dollars on. Because it’s light and easy to use, I can carry it in my car for toddler spills and tracked in dirt. However, it’s not that powerful… For power and for deep cleaning, you want corded. My deep power cleaner is the Shark Vertex (latest model is called powerdetect). Buying two vacuums to fulfill these needs will also be cheaper/more effective than buying a single vacuum that covers both… because batteries (Especially ones from Dyson) are quite expensive.
