Love our Shark stick vacuum. Got the Evopower System IQ+ with the auto empty dock. Works great, suction is as good as a Dyson, it's light and very nifty, and only $400 (got it from Shopee on one of their sale days). We've owned 2 previous Dysons which all died around the 3-year mark. Don't think they're worth the price, especially if they're not longer lasting than a cheaper brand. Also all the frills and attachments are unnecessary imo.
I have an older version of the [Shark Duo cordless](https://www.sharkninja.com/shark-powerdetect-cordless-stick-vacuum/IP1251.html) and it is outstanding for both carpet and hard floors. I've had it at least 5-6 years now. The Duo brush system requires cleaning fairly regularly but outside of that, awesome cordless vacuum.
I have the roborock Qrevo Pro (called the S5V now i think), and I really like its vacuum and mopping ability. I was able to ditch my old mop because of it, but you still need a powerful vacuum if you have carpets, because a robot can’t vacuum all that deep. That being said, I think you have conflicting requirements there, adhoc cleaning and deep cleaning. I think you should split the two. My adhoc cleaner is a small battery powered Shark vacuum that i spent 80 dollars on. Because it’s light and easy to use, I can carry it in my car for toddler spills and tracked in dirt. However, it’s not that powerful… For power and for deep cleaning, you want corded. My deep power cleaner is the Shark Vertex (latest model is called powerdetect). Buying two vacuums to fulfill these needs will also be cheaper/more effective than buying a single vacuum that covers both… because batteries (Especially ones from Dyson) are quite expensive.
Top contenders: Henry Quick, Miele Duoflex or Triflex, Samsung Jet Bespoke AI, 85 or 75. LG A9 Cord Zero, Shark PowerDetect, Shark Vertex Pro. The Henry, Samsung Bespoke AI and Cord Zero A9 all feature a bagged mechanism of some kind which make them hygienically a step above the rest. The Henry is the only cordless that actually has a bag which is unique to this category.
I have the base PowerDetect (without the self empty), and I like it. It folds up nice and small so storing it is easy. I recommend it as well.
I have a Shark PowerDetect and like it for the most part. I just wish the accessories were better, but the cleaning power of the duo clean head is good.
I'd go for the dual head, but I didn't want the auto empty canister because I didn't have a good place to keep it.
I have no idea how the brush roll does on hard floors by itself. I would do some research on that. I bought a refurbished powerdetect with the duo head on Ebay for $180, and I am verry happy with it. I really don't know how much the soft roll helps on hard floors, but I didn't want the auto empty because I don't have a good place for it.
It really depends on the price you can get each one for. I just picked up a refurbished PowerDetect cordless for $180 with a 2 year warranty. I also picked up a Narwal s20 recently as well. Combined, these two items are half the price of the V15s.
Out of those two, I'd go with the Shark Powerdetect. I just got one and I like it so far. Spare parts can be found for Shark vacuums, and prices drop for the replacement parts the longer the vacuum has been on the market. I don't have any flex in the hinge either. The hinge makes the vacuum fold up really small for easy storage, and it makes it really easy to vacuum under things. The other vacuum seems to be a generic brand so who knows how easily you will get support for it or if you can buy replacement parts when needed.
Also folds up nice and small for easy storage.
Just returned the Shark PowerDetect to Costco last night after having it for 3 months. I have a Great Pyrenees and needed something that could handle the hair. It did great! Until it got clogged and I tried to take the roller out to get the clog out. It was then that I discovered the actual roller doesn’t come out. At all. So there’s no way to clean out your vacuum. I called Shark because I thought surely I was crazy, who would make a vacuum marketed to pet owners that can’t be cleaned? Their response was that this lack of access is actually a feature! Now I don’t have to clean it because it can’t be cleaned! And that I shouldn’t need to clean it anyway because it’s self cleaning. I said well, no, if it was truly self cleaning, I wouldn’t be having this conversation with you right now. Turns out Shark now doesn’t make a single model that has a brush roller that can be accessed for cleaning. The only thing you can take out is the soft hard floor brush in the front. Sucks because otherwise I was super happy with it otherwise but if it was already caked in hair on either side of the roller and needing a good cleaning in 3 months, I hate to see what it would look like in a year!
Was looking at Dyson and ended up with a Shark PowerDetect! Cheaper and had its own docking station, works really well on hardwood. My reason for a change of mind were the user reviews. Too many complaints and too expensive given the features.
I purchased a Shark PowerDetect last week. We had just vacuumed the house with our previous vacuum cleaner before the Shark arrived, and I am amazed at how much dust and hair the new vacuum picked up. We are pleased with this new Shark.
