I know nothing about vacuums, read some reviews a couple weeks ago, and decided to go with the Stratos. I really wanted to like it. Also tried to convince myself to keep it, but It's going back tomorrow. The battery life is insulting for the price.

Katzenhaare, Katzenstreu, jeglicher Dreck in Sekunden makellos weg.

Based on our testing, they all do about the same on hard floor, but the V15 Detect has the edge on carpet. I'd say go with the Stratos Cordless. It's cheaper, and the bending wand does help its maneuverability. We use the Dyson V15s Detect as our "reset" vacuum between testing quite a few times a week, and it's been working well for 2ish years now. That being said, I have seen posts on here that have said both Shark and Dyson are not really "buy it for life" products, especially when it comes to their batteries so that's something to keep in mind.

I'm super pleased with the Shark Stratos cordless that I've had for around a year. I have cats and found my Dyson stick would constantly puff air as the brush rotated and blow the hair and dust bunnies away. It was also fairly weak over my rugs. No such issue with the Stratos. It has great suction, and the rotating brush does a good job of lifting the pile on my rugs. It has a hinge in the middle which allows it to fold down for easy storage, but also to vacuum under beds without having to bend all the way down.

We have a Shark Stratos, and although it's out of your price range, I can recommend it as a cordless vacuum cleaner. It did develop one fault, but I believe that was because our cleaner was using it to hoover up ash. They replaced it in warranty with a full new unit. I did do some research on this prior to buying it, and the vacuums subreddit strongly recommended the Henry bagged cordless. I would have gone for it, but my wife vetoed the idea.

In the last year we’ve gone through three Shark vacuums. We have 75% carpet, 3600 sf, a very hairy Golden, and two little kids. We vacuum our main areas 2-3x a week. We just bought a Sebo Felix last weekend after a ton of research. We spent more on the Sharks in the last year than we did on the Sebo, and it comes with a 10yr warranty (and should last 20 years)! Honestly, it’s the best vacuum we’ve had. Weighs a pound less than the $499 Shark Stratos that lasted a few months. Really maneuverable, although it can topple over if you use the hose (laying it down is fine due to hose length). And, I’m shocked how much I’m appreciative of the bag instead of being bag less! No dander smell from vacuuming, and no dusty bin to clean out. I’m shocked I spent $800 on a vacuum and will only tell strangers on the internet, buts it’s one of the most popular uprights for a reason.

Hi. Based on research on this sub, I bought the Kenmore 600 series canister a couple of weeks ago. Paid less than $300. I have medium pile plush carpet and it works very well. Gets all the pet hair. I find a canister easier to use on stairs. My other vac is a Shark Stratos upright and I have to say, my carpet looks better after using the Kenmore compared to the Shark. The Shark is better on hard surfaces. Both vacs are on the heavy side. The Kenmore also comes with quality attachments including a powered brush that is fantastic.

Bought the Kenmore 600 a week or so ago and like it a lot so far. We have medium plush and low berber carpet. Gets all the pet hair off. I have a Corgi that sheds like crazy. Canister is easy to use on stairs and with the attachments. The attachments are really nice. The Pet Powermate is terriifc. Haven't used it much on hard surfaces. My other vacuum is a Shark Stratos and it is outstanding on hard surfaces.

The Shark lift away Navigator professional is my favorite vacuum of all time. I bought a refurbished one 10 years ago, and it's still going strong. The clips that hold the dust bin on broke so my hubby put a bungee cord on to hold it down. He bought me the Shark Stratus to replace it, but I'm still using it until it dies. The Stratus is really good, too, but I love the Navigator more. It maneuvers so much better. My husband even uses it as a shop vac when he does drywall work around the house. I'm just really meticulous changing out the filters and cleaning it regularly.

A lot of commercial cleaning companies I’ve seen use Shark Stratos or other top end Shark vacuums, actually bought one based on a review from a woman that owned a cleaning company using something crazy like 100 of them over their locations and swore by them. It’s a fucking fantastic vacuum cleaner, only ever needs one pass even with pet fur, never clogs with hair, really have no complaints with it I can think of besides the weight but it’s built like a tank and maneuvers well so I can’t even really complain about that. Used to stick with Hoover bagged vacuum models since that’s what my parents recommended to me, and it is so much better in every conceivable way.

I love my Shark Stratos. Paid about $500, got the package with the steam mop. I'll agree it's not a "commercial style" vac, but it works very well and beats having to replace the Bissell every year or two. My friend liked mine so much, she bought one too and still loves it.

No. Hubby has rebuilt two for some friends, two different models. They are built incredibly poorly inside. He was bitching and moaning the entire time about how much of a piece of crap these things are. I've had a few Carpet Pros when I was a house cleaner, I really liked them, they took a beating for sure. But they are typically more than $500. Currently have a Shark Stratos I love! My friend got one my recommendation and she loves it too. I have mostly carpet, she has hardwood and rugs.

My rotator went 10 years. This one is obviously new. I also I have a corded shark stratos that's been going for about 3 years.

I purchased the stratos after I had my previous version for years (apex). Only replaced because after a certain period of time, no cleaning will remove that dog smell. But again, we are talking 6+ years with one permanent dog and several rover dogs in the mix. I like the stratos but my big gripe is the wand doesn’t have a light on it like the apex. Also, I could take the vacuum head completely apart and clean it out in the apex, but the stratos only lets me open the very front part. I have carpets, rugs, and hardwood. I liked the apex because I could take the beater out, can’t do that with the stratos, so I had to buy a mighty mite for my Persian rug.

Check out VacuumWars on YouTube for reviews. He uses really objective testing. My recommendation is the shark Apex/Vertex/Stratos duo clean zero m. It has a little comb inside that basically stops all hair tangles around the roller and it has two rollers- a soft roller for hard floors and a brush for carpet. It can be lifted off for handheld use. It's a 10/10. The Apex is the original model, there's now the Vertex and I think Stratos But you're more likely to find the apex on sale. This isn't a super cheap vacuum but it isn't outrageous either. It also has great filtration.

I have been buying Shark for at least 20 years (three houses I sold including the vacuums) and I have never had one break. I vacuum everyday. I have had up to 5 cats and 2 dogs. The old Shark that is now in the basement sucking up dead bugs did get some splits in the hose but duct tape took care of that. The one on the 1st floor is 7 yrs old and works fine. Last year I bought a Shark Stratos for upstairs and it's great for the hardwood floors. It also will pick up cat litter and not shoot it out the back at my legs. I did buy a carpet rake a few months ago and it's a game-changer.

A lot of the power detect sticks are corded which a lot of folks miss. These ones are not corded [Shark PowerDetect](https://amzn.to/4mE23qW). The Startos in my opinion is stronger and more consistent when it comes to suction and the PowerDetect is more convenient (auto-empty, smart detection) but comes with weaker suction.

Hey, I own a Shark myself and I have no problems with it yet. My last Shark was a Shark Rocket that broke after about 6 years. Still, reviewsvacuum's YouTube channel is very informative about all kinds of vacuums. He has a huge collection of vacuums and is very knowledgable about repairing all kinds of vacuums. Of course he is biased, as he makes a living off of selling specific brands of vacuums and repairing those that are brought to his shop. Of course he isn't going to like vacuums that are unrepairable because that means he gets no business. You can't really fault him for that. To be honest, is it really so great for consumers, either? Not really, unless you are okay with having a disposable vacuum. There is nothing wrong with having vacuums that only last a few years and can't be repaired if that is all you can afford. I have learned a lot from him about making better choices in the future, though. I like my Shark Stratos but it was $450 when I bought it and I understand now that I kind of got ripped off. Now that I have been here for a while, if I could do it again I would have got a bagged machine and saved money. I am saving up for a Miele or Sebo (haven't decided yet - that is why I am still here and reading) because the next vacuum I buy I want it to be the last one I ever have to purchase and I want to make the correct decision for me. I really like vacuum cleaners and think they are an important appliance in the home. They help keep us healthy and they are pretty fun.

They might be right, though. I will decide if they are once I get a Sebo or Miele. I have a feeling that my Shark Stratos isn't agitating the carpeting enough. I grew up with high quality Hoover canisters and I swear they did a much better job agitating the carpeting. I feel like my Shark leaves it looking flat and not as fluffy as it should. It definitely has great suction and the anti-hair wrap works great. I like the duo clean roller felt roller, too. I feel like it is buffing my hard floors. Anyway, these vacuum technician guys on here do know what they are talking about and there ARE people who post on this forum how had their Shark break in a year and it can't be fixed. Which really sucks for them. If my Stratos breaks in a year I am going to be PISSED because I paid $450 for it!

Shark vacs are garbage. My sister has a Stratos I just painfully took apart to clean, and while it improved the performance slightly, it’s still a vacuum that takes several passes to pick up a 1 cm square scrap of paper. They have a planned obsolescence. I would repair your Miele, because no cordless will ever match its torque. If your vacuum dealer can’t repair it to your satisfaction, ask what they’ll have on sale for BF.

r/VacuumCleaners • Which vacuum should I pick ->
Reddit Icon
thatgirlinny • 5 days ago

You’re so welcome! Now my sister is blissfully ignorant of the magic that can happen when we learn how to take these things apart and de-gunk them, but that Stratos has some ridiculous build choices that trap utter filth in the hardest-to-reach crevices, so it took me a couple of days to make a difference—and remind her she could actually replace the foam and felt filters, instead of me cleaning them with a soak in a few drops of Dawn Platinum. My sister has lousy instincts vis a vis appliances, and buys whatever’s on sale. I’ve watched her go through three vacuums in as many years. I am trying to convince her buying quality would last and clean better—but she doesn’t prioritize cleaning products. I have the Miele animal bagless (Is it the C1 or CX…I’m not near it right now to verify). I’ve had it for 6+ years, clean it regularly, and it’s a champ. The thing about odors that remain in vacuum cleaners is because unchecked, there’s plenty of places something unpleasant can stick on the way to the inside. If there’s a repair/retailer near you, make that stop one and scoop up a deal if the diagnosis isn’t promising. Godspeed! I do keep a stick in my kitchen for quick kitchen disasters and last-minute sweeps before leaving or expecting guests. It’s the v12 Animal I bought in early 2020, and regularly maintained, it has never let me down.

I have a karcher (think of it as an industrial cylinder) just like a henry - and there are some places in the house where it would be difficult to use the cylinder. Personally don't get rid of Henry - as it's a god send for a real good vacuum that sucks well and sucks up the mess in times of urgency (when your stand alone is battery drained. But I do recommend the Shark Stratos - it's a really good addition to my cylinder vacuum. It's lightweight and the battery lasts well. You can choose IQ sensos or eco mode or boost mode. With boost mode it sucks really well for a battery, but of course you do expect it to drain quickly in the process. Whether as a vacuum for the home or a smaller hoover for the stairs and clean up mess in the kitchen. The stratos has done a good job thus far. Battery 3.5 hours to charge up fully - and Ninja Kitchen UK and Shark are in the same group - so from a warranty point of view - you got it covered if anything goes wrong.

I had a Henry in the past and currently have a Shark. The henry was good but if you wanted to use the brushes on the head to lift up the carpet pile it can be quite hard work. It was also bulky and took up a lot of room in the under-stairs cupboard. The shark we have now is cordless and is decent and I enjoy using it. It has the head with the power-fins on it rather than a spinning brush. With this design I think it's better for hard floors rather than carpet. The fins don't do a good job of lifting the carpet pile. Without any weight keeping the head down, the head wobbles up and down if you drag the cleaner back against the direction of the pile.

I've always found them to be hype. Used to have a Dyson corded that I got from my dad second hand. it was good, until I decided to replace it with a Shark corded. The first time I used the shark, you'd have thought I'd never hoovered the carpet, honestly the amount of engrained hair and dust it pulled out was insane in comparison to the Dyson which looked like it was doing a good job, it's not that it didn't pick anything up but I would say the recovery rate was probably 65% in comparison to the shark. I then bought the shark stick handheld and was using that but when I split with my ex it stayed at the house. My new partner has a Dyson V8 and it's crap in comparison, there is stuff I know my shark would of picked up easily and the Dyson struggles. I also have a V7 my dad gave me which I just replaced the battery on as that had got to the point where it would only run for 30seconds before switching off so will see how it is with the new battery but tbh don't hold high hopes.
