Based on our testing, they all do about the same on hard floor, but the V15 Detect has the edge on carpet. I'd say go with the Stratos Cordless. It's cheaper, and the bending wand does help its maneuverability. We use the Dyson V15s Detect as our "reset" vacuum between testing quite a few times a week, and it's been working well for 2ish years now. That being said, I have seen posts on here that have said both Shark and Dyson are not really "buy it for life" products, especially when it comes to their batteries so that's something to keep in mind.
r/VacuumCleaners • Dyson V15 vs Shark PowerDetect vs Shark Stratos – or other? Which is most reliable? ->If you truly want a stick vacuum that will do an amazing job get the Shark Stratos https://amzn.to/4fqy0Ro It’s great on tile and rugs, has strong suction, and handles heavy shedders really well. The only downside is that the dust bin might fill up quickly with all that pet hair. If you want a vacuum that’s made for hard floors and rugs go with Miele C1. It’s a bagged canister with excellent suction, better control on hardwood, and is built to last. The only caveat is that it’s a corded canister vacuum with bags. But if you suffer from allergies, bags are 1000% the way to go. https://amzn.to/4lhC0F6
r/VacuumCleaners • Vacuum recs for mostly tile home, thin area rugs, and a shedding monster of a dog? ->Look into the [Shark Stratos](https://amzn.to/3IgjFet) cordless. The soft roller is great on hardwood so it doesn’t kick stuff around, and the brushroll actually handles fur really well without getting clogged.
r/VacuumCleaners • Best cordless for all hardwood? ->A lot of the power detect sticks are corded which a lot of folks miss. These ones are not corded [Shark PowerDetect](https://amzn.to/4mE23qW). The Startos in my opinion is stronger and more consistent when it comes to suction and the PowerDetect is more convenient (auto-empty, smart detection) but comes with weaker suction.
r/VacuumCleaners • Best cordless for all hardwood? ->I bought the shark stratus and I’ve been really happy with it. It has a ton of power for a cordless vacuum. And the battery seems to last a long time.
r/CostcoCanada • Any reviews on Shark vacuums? ->We have a Shark Stratos, and although it's out of your price range, I can recommend it as a cordless vacuum cleaner. It did develop one fault, but I believe that was because our cleaner was using it to hoover up ash. They replaced it in warranty with a full new unit. I did do some research on this prior to buying it, and the vacuums subreddit strongly recommended the Henry bagged cordless. I would have gone for it, but my wife vetoed the idea.
r/AskUK • What cordless vacuum cleaners are actually worth buying, but don’t break the bank? ->Idk, these ego batteries are heavy and wouldn't want them on a vaccum personally. I bought a Shark IZ862H and it's been the best vacuum I've ever had.
r/egopowerplus • I'd love to see an Ego Vacuum cleaner ->I found myself purchasing a new vacuum about every 2 years. Then I purchased a Dyson pet , and it was great. Had a 5-year warranty, and promptly lost suction at the 6-year mark. It was the best vacuum for the almost 6 years I had it. Now I have a Shark, an apartment vacuum because it is mostly for bare floors, but the cord is short. Have had it for 2 years now. I would take advice of the professional cleaner - the porta-vac.
r/CleaningTips • What is the Best Vacuum ->With no stairs and carpet to think about, corded may be better as you can’t match the power on carpet and you don’t have to worry about dragging it up and down stairs. I highly recommend Miele as a brand, mine is prehistoric and still going strong, similar levels of inconvenience as a Henry. However for me, it’s such a pain in the arse to get it out that 90% of the time I use my folding rechargeable Shark and absolutely love it. I highly recommend shopping second hand, particularly if going for cordless as there’s no battery degradation to worry about, though I inherited my Shark second hand and it’s still stellar. If you’re worried about faults, Shark do say they have a five year guarantee and buying on credit card will give you Section 75 protection on the off chance they don’t honour it. Shark also have 4.2% cashback on TopCashback right now as a potential extra little saving.
r/UKFrugal • Decent, inexpensive vacuum cleaner needed. ->#1 brush as often as possible. I'm a self admitted clean freak and I hate hair. I've had many vacuums over the years. My previous vacuum was a Dyson animal that I loved when it actually was functional (I will unfortunately not be buying another Dyson). Now I have a Shark Stratos DuoClean PowerFins HairPro. I am not disappointed! Works great on the carpet and the vinyl floors. Next investment will be a robot vac/mop
r/germanshepherds • Best vacuum for hair? ->I use a Shark Stratos from Costco. It's been good, comes with lots of attachments. The dual brush and fins clean hard floors very well.
r/CostcoCanada • Any reviews on Shark vacuums? ->Just bought a Shark Stratos refurbished off eBay for around $200. Has worked great so far and has a 2 year warranty.
r/VacuumCleaners • Good vacuum that doesn't cost a whole paycheck. ->Shark Stratos or Tineco A11 Hero. They're both solid under $300. Avoid Bissell stick vacs, weak suction and bad battery life in my experience
r/VacuumCleaners • Best Stick Vacuum under $300? ->The Shark lift away Navigator professional is my favorite vacuum of all time. I bought a refurbished one 10 years ago, and it's still going strong. The clips that hold the dust bin on broke so my hubby put a bungee cord on to hold it down. He bought me the Shark Stratus to replace it, but I'm still using it until it dies. The Stratus is really good, too, but I love the Navigator more. It maneuvers so much better. My husband even uses it as a shop vac when he does drywall work around the house. I'm just really meticulous changing out the filters and cleaning it regularly.
r/CatAdvice • Can someone recommend me some a good vacuum to buy that can actually handle my 3 cats hair?! ->A lot of commercial cleaning companies I’ve seen use Shark Stratos or other top end Shark vacuums, actually bought one based on a review from a woman that owned a cleaning company using something crazy like 100 of them over their locations and swore by them. It’s a fucking fantastic vacuum cleaner, only ever needs one pass even with pet fur, never clogs with hair, really have no complaints with it I can think of besides the weight but it’s built like a tank and maneuvers well so I can’t even really complain about that. Used to stick with Hoover bagged vacuum models since that’s what my parents recommended to me, and it is so much better in every conceivable way.
r/BuyItForLife • These are the most recommended vacuum cleaners on Reddit (r/VacuumCleaners VS others) as of Jan 2025 ->I love my Shark Stratos. Paid about $500, got the package with the steam mop. I'll agree it's not a "commercial style" vac, but it works very well and beats having to replace the Bissell every year or two. My friend liked mine so much, she bought one too and still loves it.
r/VacuumCleaners • Does Shark still make a good vacuum ->No. Hubby has rebuilt two for some friends, two different models. They are built incredibly poorly inside. He was bitching and moaning the entire time about how much of a piece of crap these things are. I've had a few Carpet Pros when I was a house cleaner, I really liked them, they took a beating for sure. But they are typically more than $500. Currently have a Shark Stratos I love! My friend got one my recommendation and she loves it too. I have mostly carpet, she has hardwood and rugs.
r/VacuumCleaners • Is the Dyson worth it? ->I have the Shark Stratos for a condo and absolutely love it. The actual vacuum is great and super easy to clean if something gets stuck. I find myself using the wand attachment all the time - tight corners, car, counter, etc…
r/CostcoCanada • Any reviews on Shark vacuums? ->Shark Cordless Power Detect Clean and Empty. I love it. Easy to use. I had a Dyson v10 I bought from Costco and it died in 6mos. I returned it. All of the shark vacuums I've owned have lasted years. My rotator went 10 years. This one is obviously new. I also I have a corded shark stratos that's been going for about 3 years.
r/VacuumCleaners • Ive been trying to find a vacuum, I scoured the sub for hours. Conclusion? r/VacuumCleaners hate vacuum cleaners and apparently i should just buy a broom. ->Shark Stratos or Miele C1 Turbo if you want corded. For cordless, Dyson V15 or LG A9 are solid. Avoid cheap stick vacs as they choke on thick carpet 👌
r/VacuumCleaners • Best townhouse vacuum ->Check out VacuumWars on YouTube for reviews. He uses really objective testing. My recommendation is the shark Apex/Vertex/Stratos duo clean zero m. It has a little comb inside that basically stops all hair tangles around the roller and it has two rollers- a soft roller for hard floors and a brush for carpet. It can be lifted off for handheld use. It's a 10/10. The Apex is the original model, there's now the Vertex and I think Stratos But you're more likely to find the apex on sale. This isn't a super cheap vacuum but it isn't outrageous either. It also has great filtration.
r/internetparents • Internet Mom/Dad, what're the BEST vacuums overall? ->I have been buying Shark for at least 20 years (three houses I sold including the vacuums) and I have never had one break. I vacuum everyday. I have had up to 5 cats and 2 dogs. The old Shark that is now in the basement sucking up dead bugs did get some splits in the hose but duct tape took care of that. The one on the 1st floor is 7 yrs old and works fine. Last year I bought a Shark Stratos for upstairs and it's great for the hardwood floors. It also will pick up cat litter and not shoot it out the back at my legs. I did buy a carpet rake a few months ago and it's a game-changer.
r/VacuumCleaners • Why does it feel like finding a vacuum is an impossible task ->I have that Shark Stratos. I bought it before I knew better. It's okay but if I were you I would go with the Kenmore 600 or Sebo Dart. Bagless vacuums are NOT as good as bagged ones.
r/VacuumCleaners • What is the best vacuum to buy of these 3 options? ->Hey, I own a Shark myself and I have no problems with it yet. My last Shark was a Shark Rocket that broke after about 6 years. Still, reviewsvacuum's YouTube channel is very informative about all kinds of vacuums. He has a huge collection of vacuums and is very knowledgable about repairing all kinds of vacuums. Of course he is biased, as he makes a living off of selling specific brands of vacuums and repairing those that are brought to his shop. Of course he isn't going to like vacuums that are unrepairable because that means he gets no business. You can't really fault him for that. To be honest, is it really so great for consumers, either? Not really, unless you are okay with having a disposable vacuum. There is nothing wrong with having vacuums that only last a few years and can't be repaired if that is all you can afford. I have learned a lot from him about making better choices in the future, though. I like my Shark Stratos but it was $450 when I bought it and I understand now that I kind of got ripped off. Now that I have been here for a while, if I could do it again I would have got a bagged machine and saved money. I am saving up for a Miele or Sebo (haven't decided yet - that is why I am still here and reading) because the next vacuum I buy I want it to be the last one I ever have to purchase and I want to make the correct decision for me. I really like vacuum cleaners and think they are an important appliance in the home. They help keep us healthy and they are pretty fun.
r/VacuumCleaners • Bought a Shark and it’s incredible!! ->They might be right, though. I will decide if they are once I get a Sebo or Miele. I have a feeling that my Shark Stratos isn't agitating the carpeting enough. I grew up with high quality Hoover canisters and I swear they did a much better job agitating the carpeting. I feel like my Shark leaves it looking flat and not as fluffy as it should. It definitely has great suction and the anti-hair wrap works great. I like the duo clean roller felt roller, too. I feel like it is buffing my hard floors. Anyway, these vacuum technician guys on here do know what they are talking about and there ARE people who post on this forum how had their Shark break in a year and it can't be fixed. Which really sucks for them. If my Stratos breaks in a year I am going to be PISSED because I paid $450 for it!
r/VacuumCleaners • Bought a Shark and it’s incredible!! ->I got the Shark Stratos from Costco. It’s online only for $229 and it’s amazing. Really happy with it. Does a good job even on the lowest setting.
r/CostcoCanada • Any reviews on Shark vacuums? ->This isn't as good as the stratos they're selling for 179 online only. The detect pro is the latest and greatest but you'll pay twice as much and its only slightly better.
r/CostcoCanada • Any reviews on Shark vacuums? ->I have a karcher (think of it as an industrial cylinder) just like a henry - and there are some places in the house where it would be difficult to use the cylinder. Personally don't get rid of Henry - as it's a god send for a real good vacuum that sucks well and sucks up the mess in times of urgency (when your stand alone is battery drained. But I do recommend the Shark Stratos - it's a really good addition to my cylinder vacuum. It's lightweight and the battery lasts well. You can choose IQ sensos or eco mode or boost mode. With boost mode it sucks really well for a battery, but of course you do expect it to drain quickly in the process. Whether as a vacuum for the home or a smaller hoover for the stairs and clean up mess in the kitchen. The stratos has done a good job thus far. Battery 3.5 hours to charge up fully - and Ninja Kitchen UK and Shark are in the same group - so from a warranty point of view - you got it covered if anything goes wrong.
r/AskUK • What cordless vacuum cleaners are actually worth buying, but don’t break the bank? ->I have a Shark Stratos, which looks about like your middle option. I really like it. It's really handy for kitchen cleanup and getting in to tight spots. The power head comes off easy and the motor comes off easily. Great on furniture too.
r/VacuumCleaners • Which of the 3 ->Bought the Kenmore 600 a week or so ago and like it a lot so far. We have medium plush and low berber carpet. Gets all the pet hair off. I have a Corgi that sheds like crazy. Canister is easy to use on stairs and with the attachments. The attachments are really nice. The Pet Powermate is terriifc. Haven't used it much on hard surfaces. My other vacuum is a Shark Stratos and it is outstanding on hard surfaces.
r/VacuumCleaners • Preparing to purchase a kenmore canister vacuum. ->I had a Henry in the past and currently have a Shark. The henry was good but if you wanted to use the brushes on the head to lift up the carpet pile it can be quite hard work. It was also bulky and took up a lot of room in the under-stairs cupboard. The shark we have now is cordless and is decent and I enjoy using it. It has the head with the power-fins on it rather than a spinning brush. With this design I think it's better for hard floors rather than carpet. The fins don't do a good job of lifting the carpet pile. Without any weight keeping the head down, the head wobbles up and down if you drag the cleaner back against the direction of the pile.
r/AskUK • What should I be looking for when buying a new vacuum? ->I have a Shark cordless WITH FINS. Not the brush roller. The fins do not wrap hair!! I have long hair, wool rugs and a dilute Torti, i vacuum every day and empty it daily. Fins are the way to go. Corded or cordless. FINS FINS https://preview.redd.it/bmwj48r457fe1.jpeg?width=750&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=0ef9a3241ef64e2c8ee9c1c90bfe78dc4d5de906
r/torties • Vaccume cleaner suggestions SPECIFICALLY for pet hair? ->For my hard floors, I use a shark duoclean. It has a regular brush roll, but in front of that it has a soft, kinda fuzzy brush roll. It picks up crumbs, dirt, and dust like a champ Unfortunately, it’s not under $200 new but you could likely find a lightly used one for that cost
r/VacuumCleaners • I just want a cheap vacuum that will actually pick up dort and crumbs. Apparently that's impossible. ->This sub will mostly try to lean you away from what it considers a disposable vacuum and into a buy it for life vacuum. The difference generally being complexity in design, gimmicky features, no parts availability and no way to repair once broken. But based on your situation I think a “disposable” vacuum would be just fine. You can use it/beat it up for a few years, move it with you, and not spend a ton. Then down the line maybe consider a buy it for life brand. In that case I would recommend looking at Costco (either in store or online) and getting either the Hoover Onepwr or LG CordZero if you want a cordless vacuum, or a Shark Navigator or Shark Duoclean if you’re ok with a cord. Id personally stay away from Dyson as they tend to be the same disposable quality but with a buy it for life price tag. The exception is the Dyson Ball Animal 3 on sale at Costco right now for $280, but it’s very large which you stated not wanting.
r/VacuumCleaners • Is the Dyson worth it? ->I own the shark duoclean, and I fucking love the technology, especially the floor detect sense for hardwood floors. This sub is going to downvote me to oblivion for praising it. But If you can get one at Costco you should be good.
r/VacuumCleaners • Any good? ->I went thru this struggle about 5ish years ago... I was sick of my hair getting tangled and getting stuck, having to take it apart, etc. I went down a rabbit hole of researching and ended up with a Shark... I'm not sure of the exact model, I can definitely get it for you. But I know it comes with the duoclean brushes and special compartment for the long hair to go into. I was skeptical at first but it works 100% of the time!! I have never, ever had to clean hair from the brushes. I don't know how it works but it does. I got it at Kohls to use the Kohls cash. Pros- no more tangled brushes or wheels, very powerful and have no complaints about suction, easy to lift off to get under furniture... Cons- it's loud and heavy, I hate using it because of that, there's no easy wrap cord feature that some vacuums have (you press a button and the cord automatically retracts), accessories fall off if you just look at them wrong, "pet brush" accessory is meh..
r/CleaningTips • Vacuum for long hair ->I have a Shark (don’t remember the model) but it has these “power fins” instead of brushes and they never get tangled with anything.
r/CleaningTips • Vacuum for long hair ->Forgot to add, it was just under $500 so it’s not a budget vacuum. The suction is next level. I love it so much.
r/CleaningTips • Vacuum for long hair ->I've always found them to be hype. Used to have a Dyson corded that I got from my dad second hand. it was good, until I decided to replace it with a Shark corded. The first time I used the shark, you'd have thought I'd never hoovered the carpet, honestly the amount of engrained hair and dust it pulled out was insane in comparison to the Dyson which looked like it was doing a good job, it's not that it didn't pick anything up but I would say the recovery rate was probably 65% in comparison to the shark. I then bought the shark stick handheld and was using that but when I split with my ex it stayed at the house. My new partner has a Dyson V8 and it's crap in comparison, there is stuff I know my shark would of picked up easily and the Dyson struggles. I also have a V7 my dad gave me which I just replaced the battery on as that had got to the point where it would only run for 30seconds before switching off so will see how it is with the new battery but tbh don't hold high hopes.
