My wife and have owned three Dyson stick vacuums; they basically die every 3 to 4 years which is beyond their warranty. We've probably spent around $500/EA, so overall we haven't been happy with them. Dyson's cyclone area is hard to clean as well.
We switched to a Tineco and I've been super happy with it. We go the "pet" model that comes with two batteries, a bunch of attachments, a "power brush" attachment (which is great for cat hair), and a reverse filter cleaner. We've had it a couple years and it's been amazing (I know, this sounds like an ad) but the brush doesn't bind up with long hair like our Dyson does, and the entire vacuum/cyclone area is accessible to clean without any dismantling.
The batteries last forever and we have 2500 sqft house, and the dual battery feature means we'll probably get 10 years out of the unit, or more.
But the battery cases are serviceable with a bit of effort. They are held together with screws, and are semi-transparent - you can see the 16550 batteries inside. I've swapped out batteries in packs before in power tools, and this looks like it will be even easier if/when that day comes.
We use it almost daily, and find it's absolutely worth the cost/benefit.
Oh, it also comes with two filters, which can be washed in water. So if one is still drying you have a backup.
We bought it one sale for around $280. It was a "pet" model. Prices look all over the board right now, so I would just wait until it comes down or you find a deal. They do go on sale; I remember ours was in the $500 range so we just waited.
I wonder this as well.
I have had lots of brands over the years, but not a Miele or Riccar.
My favorite is my Dyson Cinetic canister. The suction is so much stronger than anything I have ever used. I have been using it for about 8 years now. Hopefully it never dies as they don’t make it anymore.
For quick pickup of cat fur and liter I use a Tineco S1 stick.
I use a tinneco pure 1 to vacuum 1200 square feet twice or more a day. Been going for over a year now with minimal maintenance. Battery lasts a long time (I’ve never run it down to zero now that I think about it….).
We have 5 dogs and 3 kids. It works great. We keep it clean. I change filters and regularly and I empty the station 2-3 times a week.
I just used my 18 month old tinneco battery stick vacuum that’s cleaned somewhere around 800,000 square feet of hard wood with 5 days and 3 kids.
For the second time today. Battery didn’t die, canister didn’t get full. I put it back on the base and it emptied the canister, cleaned the filters and the beater.
Pretty convenient.
Get the Tineco products. I have the stick vac, the floor mop and the wet dry spot vac. All of these have performed without issue for years for us vs the dyson stick and we went through 3 of the Bissell spot cleaners (pet and auto ones). Best part is all 3 of these cost the same as one Dyson
