It's reasonably priced, parts are available, and it beats all the junk sold on Amazon under made up brand names. Not too heavy or unweildy, and they have decent suction for what they are. As a quick picker-upper to complement a corded vac, it'll do the job nicely 👌
There isn't much in that budget range which I can emphatically recommend to be honest. Most of it is unbranded, best avoided. Having said that, I do see the Vax Pace is within budget, nice because it'll come with an actual garentee and a company you can get hold of. Performance wise it should be fine for quick pickups long as you keep the filter clean. I see a couple Bosch models are also avaliable around that price which again would be fine. I'd avoid brands like beldray, tower, swan, and the aforementioned generic models littering Amazon and other online shops. Hope this helps.
Vax one, it was cheap and is really good, I have had it for ages. When it dies I will get another.
>motorised brush head It's a must, my Vax one isn't motorised and I didn't realise when buying it and it's absolutely useless, takes ages because it stops spinning with the lightest bit of pressure ever I bought a handheld hoover with a motorised head and silicone roller so it doesn't trap hairs and worked a treat until it broke. Bought this specific hoover because they had spare parts for everything, ordered the part, waited two weeks for it to be cancelled on the delivery day as it was apparently out of stock and I need to wait 2 months I've had to go back to the shitty air powered one and I'm hating life atm
Robot vaccum and a Vax pet upright. I can go ages without having to vacuum or mop but it'll depend on how dirty your floors are. Mine is just pet hair and food bits
Vax OnePower with two batteries. Lasts load longer than a Dyson and actually picks stuff up.
I'm in the same situation as you re: flat size, and I just bought the Vax Petsense with 2 batteries. It works great and I'm very pleased with it. Going around my whole flat uses about 1/2 the charge of one battery. Cost me just over £200 with a discount code and it was on sale too. My only complaint is that the battery charger is separate to the vacuum holder, but that's it. I had a (very old) Dyson cordless before and it's so much better than that.
I have carpets mostly and it does a really good job of picking everything up on the first go. I mostly got the upgrade because I have a cat and the litter can get everywhere, which my 10 year old Dyson couldn't cope with any more. The Vax picks it up first go every time. I have lino in my kitchen and bathroom and it picks up the litter there without issue to. It has some kind of sensor that makes it go faster when there's more debris, which also seems to work well.
We always love the Vax very powerful &that is the rechargeable pet one, important note always a great after service if needed.
Unfortunately I think it depends on the carpet. I used to have a cheap pet Vax vacuum and it did an excellent job. Then I moved to a house with thick cheap carpet that was full of static and everything stuck to it. I ended up getting the pet meile but it was was still a lot of effort. The turbo head is good and sometimes I used the wood floor head instead as the brush dislodged fur from the carpet. It could be worth looking into one of those steam clean vacuums? Good luck
