I’m in the market for a new webcam. I currently have an Anker C300 (1080p/60 f/2.0) which is fairly decent. It is placed on the left side of my monitor making an angle of 30-35 degrees with respect to the main screen. My office is quite small, with the wall behind me at around 3-4 feet away. I have a ring light that (5-10% power) that pretty much illuminates my face. I have a few Elgato gear - Stream Deck Plus, Teleprompter, Wave 3). My usage of the webcam is around 90% for webcam (Zoom/Teams) and 10% for content creation. Though this may change in future. I’m looking at jumping into 4K streams, possibly to get better background separation. My considerations so far have been: - a/ Get a mirrorless R50V, hopefully use it in UVC mode (i.e. no CAMlink). I have a Canon 16-35 f/2.8 EF II (+ EF to RF mount) lens already, so I will just need a body and possibly a dummy battery for an AC source. With this option, I know I will get the best separation, but I may end up giving up a few conveniences, will need a sturdy small tripod to hold the mirrorless and teleprompter. PLUS this will be $$$$ and having not tried UVC mode I’m afraid of any other surprises in the workflow. - b/ Get an Elgato Facecam Pro. I looked at the Facecam 4K that was recently launched, but the f/4.0 on it is a deal breaker. The Facecam Pro on the other hand does offer better separation. Given that this is over 3 years from the initial release, I’m not sure if this will be worth it now and fear there may be a gen 2 model releasing this year. - c/ Do nothing, hold it. What would you do?
r/elgato • Is Elgato Facecam Pro after 3 years of release still worth it? ->I got the Anker PowerConf C300 webcam which comes with a USB C cable. It was about $100. Works very well, good picture quality and it comes with useful software. There’s a newer model now, C310, which is 4K. I wouldn’t rely on the mic built into a webcam, though. I bought a Razor Seiren Mini ($50) but you need to buy a new cable as it comes with a USB A cable. It sounds tons better. My use case is solely Zoom calls.
r/macmini • Best webcam for the Mac mini Pro ->Ich hab die Brio 500.
