simple answer: no, 1st gen has more FPS, 2nd has better image quality If you only need to use your webcam for internet video calls teams, zoom and most others only use 30 FPS anyway so 2nd gen will be better with better image quality. if you need 60 FPS for some other specialized application, you'd be better off with an external webcam anyway

No. I’ve have both. First gen mic sounds like a cheap laptop mic (standard laptop mic) second gen sounds much cleaner. The first gen camera has white balance issues and grainy look with dropped frames (standard laptop webcam), second gen feels like a better resolution but it’s really just the cleaner image. If you use the webcam and mic for meetings etc, I highly recommend 2nd gen over 1st gen. FPS are too irrelevant, 2nd gen is just a lot better in every other way. Much better sound and image quality, and completely revamped disconnect switches. The old switches cut off behind the controls of mic and camera, leading to almost all apps being unable to detect them without starting them new when they are being toggled on after the app has been started. 2nd gen cuts them off between mic/camera and a combined controller, so the software always sees them, just doesn't always get a signal. I'll be honest I didn't notice much difference when upgrading mine. It was fine, so was the 1st gen one. Not amazing, but good enough.
