You don’t need an adapter. Plugging straight into the dock’s USB A ports work. Tested my c920e and the system recognized it right away.

ref1uxJust get a reasonable external webcam from a decent manufacturer. I use a Logitech C925e which has a decent 1080p picture and can be had for £14 on eBay. It's as good as some of Logitech's much more expensive webcams like the C920 and C922.
RobokuneTTVI picked up a logitech c920e a few days ago and its been pretty solid so far. The cam software does have a low lighting toggle that ive been using and it actually does a pretty nice job of balancing the lighting
