Razer - Kiyo

Get a cheap ring light, get a better webcam. Razer kyo has one built in and it's decent but it's still better to get good lighting and a better camera.

I've been using the Razer Kiyo since starting up. I've had a good experience so far. It's just over $100 at Best buy right now (I didn't look elsewhere, just checked to see how much and which one lol).

I had issues with Razer Kiyo. It just stopped working after a month. I've got a replacement unit which also suddenly stopped working after a year. The image quality was mediocre at best. I am using Elgato Facecam Neo now and I am very pleased with it. The image quality is way better than Razer Kiyo. It also has a great optional software - you can set focus to near / mid / far / auto, set contrast, saturation., sharpness, adjust shutter speed, iso, dynamic range and white balance. There is also a very good looking image noise reduction. Elgato Facecam Neo doesn't have a microphone, but the microphones in webcams are usually shitty quality anyways, so you will not really want to use the built in mic anyway. To achieve a nice image with any webcam you will need a good lighting. Sitting in a well lit room, putting a night lamp near your face should be good enough at first. You can also consider using your smartphone as a webcam, there are apps like DroidCam that you install on your PC and your phone that let you connect your phone via USB or wifi. The camera in your phone will most likely produce better quality video than most webcams on the market.

Razer Kiyo is $60, it’s what I use

i use the razer kiyo which is very affordable and you wont ever really need to upgrade it. it also has a slight smoothing filter on my skin which always makes me feel nice and presentable

What’s the reasoning for wanting something like the sony a700 or Zv? Both of these cameras a better utilized than “just a streaming camera”. If your friend is wanting to jump into just streaming, the logitec pros, razer kiyos, elgato facecam etc are all perfectly good choices for much less than 2k. They should invest in mic quality and sound above cam quality. You can have the prettiest visuals but if the sound sucks, most people will leave the stream

I’ve owned Kiyo and C920. Not sure why everyone used to recommend C920, I like Kiyo way better.

The LED ring definitely makes a difference. I say better in terms of out of the box color profile of the camera. Of course you can install the app and adjust it but as a plug and play, the colors and contrast of Razer is way better than Logi.

I ran the kiyo for about two years. I think it's a fine camera. I'd take the savings and buy some cheap led light boxes and a desk mount for them because extra light will help with webcam clarity and despite the ring light being there it isn't really that powerful. I actually still use the webcam almost daily as I mounted it on my wall and pointed it at my cat perch and it's lasted about 5 years My upgrade as a relatively cheap/poor hobbist has been the a5000 but that was roughly 300$ before the capture card. Old Cellphones work great with a program like Irun Webcam. I use my current cellphone as an additional camera for things like showing people my cannabis garden.

I bought the Kiyo webcam expecting a high quality camera. The one I received could not focus. Razer replaced it with one that doesn't work AT ALL (as in the aperture blades don't even open!). It's still within the warranty period, but Razer will not fix it or replace it. I need a new webcam and want the best one on the market. Any suggestions are appreciated. Thanks!

I'm sure there are good ones, but Razer has acknowledged that my camera is defective and still refused to replace or repair it (I've only had it for a few months). In my experience, Logitech stands by their products in a way that Razer does not.

I use the Razer Kiyo with AI Track + Opentrack. Like you said, it won’t have the accuracy of a TrackIR but I am yet to have an issue with that. The camera actually has a pretty good low light performance so unless your room is completely dark and DCS is also at around night time, you probably won’t even need to turn on the ring light, or turn it up to the lowest brightness setting and it will work fine. 60 fps at 640x480p. I was using 720p before, after lowering the resolution I haven’t noticed an actual difference in performance, or maybe slightly improved since the AI can see your facial structure a bit better

c920 have always been the good ol' stream cam because it was cheap and decent quality at the time, but you have to keep in mind it's still a 30fps cam, which makes her qualities fade away in the current age of streaming. If you're on a budget, probably you can do is something like a Razer Kiyo, and stepping it up without going too high in price is something like a Logitech Streamcam or OBSBOT Meet. From here, the best you can do if price isn't a problem is having an actual camera and a capture card like Cam Link 4k others mentioned here (Canon cameras can actually work as webcams without capture card, which is nice if you want to save some money).

Razer Kiyo regular or pro or pro ultra works great looks amazing and has exceptional low light miles ahead of the c922. In my opinion the best looking webcam for the budget that also doesn’t break the bank to hard

I got the razor kiyo at Walmart for $50 clearance. Check there first if it’s available as I can stream up to 1080p 30-60fps

I recommend the Razer Kiyo, comes with a ring light and light matters so much with tracking. Also what program do you use? If it’s VNyan you really wanna mess with your tracking layers. Side note, if it’s in the budget, I suggest an iPhone for tracking unless you are sold on hand tracking in which case yeah webcam makes more sense

I have the c920 for the work set up and the razer kiyo on my personal PC. I prefer the kiyo so much more I brought a second one for the work computer.

A Razer Kiyo. LOVE my Razer Kiyo. The quality can be really good if you use the settings correctly, if you turn off the auto brightness setting you can get a crisp 60FPS camera feed. Has a built in ringlight too to assist in proper lighting to get the lighting youd need, frankly I would recommend good ambient lighting instead of the ringlight, but it's good in a pinch. Has served me so well.

I have a Razer Kiyo and a cheap ring light from Amazon that does a warm light. Very happy with it. The Logitech 920 is also plenty good enough with decent lighting.

I have a Kiyo with a ring light. Honest opinion in these 2 months that I’ve been using it: it’s great for that price. I have not so good lights in my room, as my pc is below a bunk bed but it still performs great, that I’m not even using that ring light. Also I streamed Fort Solis the other day in complete darkness and the camera view was (in my opinion) totally awesome for the circumstances. If you want to check it look for @derangedraven

I had a low budget so I got Razer Kiyo, very good for $60.

You'll want some form of lighting. My first camera was a razer kiyo which had a ring light built in -was very useful. Currently got an elgato Facecam - p good camera but good lighting would probs double the cost I'd recommend getting a cheaper camera like the Logitech c920 and getting some lighting to go with it.

Razor kyio is truly the best and really. Cheap. You should start spending money like that till you start at least doing it long enough to know it won’t be a waste. I’ve known so many streamers start out spend too much then stop. 💖

Definitely the razor kyio ngl its the best bang for your buck at only 30$ usd in best buy rn and it even comes with a ring light on the camera for better visibility and performance

Use your phone pref, razor kiyo looks the best to me web cam wise but prone to breaks. C920 have been the staple for a long time. Elgato looks nice but at their price (last I looked) I'd save for another dslr xD

When streaming from home I used a Logitech C920 for 8 years, then I switched to the Elgato Facecam this year when my C920 finally died. For travel (I travel internationally quite often) i use a Razer Kiyo because it folds into a sturdy circle and travels well, not the best quality, but it's very durable.

I just got he Razer Kiyo for about 55 bucks and its great for the money.

I'd go with the Kiyo. I've had better luck using Aruco marker tracking than face tracking. I'm currently using a Logitech c310 at 30 fps + 720p, it works quite well. I've also tried face tracking with that, as well as a PS3 eye (both face and Aruco), and also Smoothtrack. Ymmv based on your phone camera quality but it didn't outdo Aruco for me.  For Aruco, I've found that the jump from 640*480 to 1280*720 made a bigger difference than boosted framerate on the PS3 eye.

Would also back the Razer Kiyo, 1080 @ 30fps or 720 @ 60 is nice, as well as it's little ring light.

In my experience it can be a decent supplement (the ring light). I tend to have my room quite dim so for face tracking/general webcam it does seem to help in my experience.

I use the Razer Kiyo webcam (has a light built in and microphone too) with great success on my Mac and PC. Nothing to complain about with it - does exactly what I wanted though I don't use the light feature as often as I thought I would.

Hey! Welcome to streaming!! So I only have experience with the Razor Kiyo. I only have the base version, not the pro. At first, I thought that for the price, it was not a great camera. But after upgrading my lighting and tweaking some settings in the razer app. I have 0 complaints. Obviously, it could always be better. But if you can find this camera on sale. I would go for it. I'm not sure how the base vs. pro holds up. Again, this is just my experience with the base version. Hope this helps in some way TheOGJagg out✌️

I have a kiyo it's pretty good. Not the light ring one, apparently that one isn't as good. Lighting is cheap, you should make due with some white LEDs

I use a Kiyo, it’s by no means the best camera. But for the budget, it’s a great starter cam. Built in light is super helpful too.
