it's looks so bad in low light because the len's F4 aperture is equivalent to a full frame lens at F16. in other words, it's basically a PIN HOLE for light to come through. I get it, because there' no AF they had to make sure everything is in focus, but dang. Elgato sent me one around it's launch to do a review about it. it was so bad that I reached out before I published my video to make sure I didn't get a bad unit. they said that 'everything look correct given the specs for the camera" really let me down. if it was a no name off brand cam it would be acceptable. but from Elgato?? Nahhh

Elgato specifically put out an update years ago to address the bad colors, and on my unit it fixed them. I was able to match a grade from my A7iv. Mjpeg for compression isn’t bad at all, especially today. I run it on my yolocam s7 at 4k60 and it’s legitimately not even noticeable. And even in good lighting the Facecam 4k still looks horrible. Not even my studio lights at 50%, which is brighter than anyone should be using for lights because it could damage your eyes, could stop grain from showing up. I see so many people trying to defend the product when it’s objectively bad.

Can vouch for it! YoloLiv sent me one of those as well. Legitimately the best webcam I’ve ever used, other than their S7

YoloCam S7 and it’s not even close. I have two and I’ve tried them all: Emeet, YongNuo, Elgato Facecam/Facecam Pro, Osbot, Logitech, Insta360. YoloCam S7 and YongNuo yn433 are both MicroFourThirds webcams. True DSLR quality and low-light performance. If you understand color grading, ISO, shutter speed, and aperture, you can really take it to another level, but YoloCam software has an AI configurator to get you up and running. It is 4K 60FPS. I cannot stress this enough. It has usb AND hdmi out, plus a mic input. Criminally underrated.
