The hardware might be a tad underpowered (but also might not) however the available features are impressive for an amazing price point imo. Very happy with the “Linksys E8450 (UBI)” if you can still get them (my 2 cents)

This is the answer. I tried to post a woot link, they have them for $19.99. I have 2 of these and 5x rt3200 which are just the same hardware in a white case. Cheap and easy to get right now.

Powerful, but only support up to wifi6.

Linksys E8450 was $US85, still getting vendor updates, and runs OpenWRT very well.

Linksys E8450s are pretty reasonable - check Amazon, and they’re rarely the cheapest. I run OpenWRT on one with a 1gb connection and it keeps up fine - 940 up and down.

Linksys E8450 (just barely good enough, I would certify it only up to 450 Mbps for PPPoE + SQM) Cudy TR-3000 (compact but powerful) GL.iNET GL-MT6000 (overkill)

r/openwrt[QUESTION] Looking for a cheap OpenWRT router with more flash (no Wi-Fi needed)

Word of caution about belkin **rt3200**. No wifi 6 on 2.4. Only wifi 4 on 2.4. The lower end rt1800 has wifi 6 on both bands but less ram and worse soc.

I use a [Belkin AX-3200](https://www.belkin.com/support-product/?sku=RT3200) and comes with 128MB of flash, and is supported by Openwrt But you can setup TmpFS and expand the storage via USB, no issues

r/HomeNetworkingModern mesh WiFi system vs Ethernet wired Unifi system
3 months ago

Hardwired backhaul seems to always be the answer that is pushed on here but sometimes it's just not an option and/or not worth the hassle. I have been using a Linksys wifi6 mesh in my 3400 sq foot house for several years and never had a problem. Get a solid connection everywhere in the house with good throughput. The construction of my house would make it difficult to run wires but it's just not worth the hassle even if I could.
