r/HomeKitBest 2.4 GHz Wifi Access Point for HomeKit

Has nothing but problems when I upgraded to a TP Link WiFi 7 AP, devices would go offline randomly in the middle of the night and never reconnect unless I manually deleted them and re-added them. Returned for another model, same issues. Returned and exchanged for a Netgear Nighthawk RS700 and has been working perfectly. The interface for configuring the AP is dog slow and borderline useless half the time because changes take minutes to apply sometimes but once it’s all setup it’s the first time I’ve ever experienced as ‘set and forget’ type network. Edit/ Configured the AP to Smart Connect with all 3 frequencies in one SSID and set the 2.4G to a Channel 6 instead of Auto and I have never experienced an issue with losing connection or adding devices.

r/wifiWhat is the best Wi-Fi Mesh Router to buy, that has 5G SIM card slot?

As far as I know there is no mesh router with 5G. That being said I’d recommend you get a good 5G router like the netgear m6 pro and a great wifi7 router like the netgear rs700. I used to have the orbi 960 and they suck. When the orbis are working they are super fast. But at times they are not working… that got on my nerves so much that I now have the rs700 for wifi and I don’t even need a mesh.

r/amazoneeroI'm considering leave eero and switching to another mesh Wi-Fi brand. Does anyone have a better solution?

I would say instead of getting a mesh system, get Neatgear Nighthawk rs700s , the range on this router is insane , try it

r/wifiBest WiFi 7 Router for 2500 sq home?

I currently have the Netgear Nighthawk RS700 and the speeds are great. However, it claims to have 3500 sq foot of range but it doesn’t have the best range as I disconnect once I get to my front door. The router is upstairs with nothing directly blocking it. Would anybody recommend a better WIFI 7 router that has great range for them?

Thanks for the response. Did the factory reset. Relocating the router will be challenging based on where the service comes in the house. Far corner.

Netgear nighthawk rs700. It's very capable. replaced my old mesh system and am getting gig wireless on the 6ghz band throughout my house. You may need to upgrade your network cards in things like PC's with a new tri band card.

Netgear nighthawk. Spend what you can afford for the coverage you need.

r/SpectrumAny Recommendations For Good Wifi Router ?

netgear nighthawks (RS300, 500, 700), ubiquity stuff is nice but overpriced. TP-Link mesh are ok too. Just went through 6 different routers finding the best solution for my house, a refurbed Netgear Nighthawk RS700 was the best solution for my house and devices. I can now get 1gb wirelessly to multiple capable devices up to a few rooms away. Where signal strength was showing 60% and speeds of about 10mb/sec before, I now get 90% wireless strength and 480-500mb/sec. I found one single more powerful router to work better than the mesh systems for us. (7 users, 40+ devices, 3500sq ft home)

Just went through 3 different mesh systems and 4 different netgear nighthawks. Picked up a refurbed netgear nighthawk rs700 and it destroyed everything for coverage and speeds.

Nighthawk, I’ve got a rs700 but the 500 is good too. I wanted the best I could get so I went with a refurb 700. Love it.

Just did this - 7 people, 3 floors. Went through a few mesh systems (tplink be4800, be5000, XE75). Hated the way mesh worked, walked to another room device would hang on the further node and online games were choppier (higher ping and latency) than a single nighthawk (even had wired backhaul from main to second of the 3 nodes). Then went through multiple Netgear Nighthawks (rs200, rs300, rs500, axe3000). Ordered a refurbed RS700S for $349, its a beast but better coverage, better speeds, lower pings, less latency than any of the Mesh systems. Dead spots where we got 5-10mb/sec now getting 550mb. Using the nighthawk app I could see with the RS500 60% signal level in some of the dead spot areas, now getting 90+%. I've got a 1GB connection from Spectrum and they overprovision so wirelessly with iphone 17 getting over 1gb a floor above or under the router and up to a room away still. Wired to PCs getting 1.1-1.2 gb too. I tested speeds in every room of my house with each system to record speeds. I found a single, more powerful router to be a much better and consistent solution for 3 floors and 7 people.

r/UbiquitiUniFi Dream Router 7 Review (UDR7)

Stay far away from routers with fans, I returned a tp-link wifi 7 router over this exact issue. Sfp port was so hot it was unreal. Try to cool your place in summer with air conditioning, you don't want some fan blowing heat. Also moving parts is a bad idea for longevity. Also when I ran latency tests I was loosing O.4 to 0.8ms over fiber with the tp-link, my old router from 10 years ago never added that much latency, just to give you an idea of how bad fans are. This is not enterprise, cisco is enterprise and they use heatsinks not fans. If you want a decent router for home, Netgear rs700 uses heatsinks and has 1500 more sq ft of range than this thing, yep not 2000sq feet, but 3500sq feet, should get good reception in your backyard this summer. If you want enterprise you'll have to go cisco.
