People are disappointed with wifi 7 are disappointed because TP link rushed out devices that were not ready for market, and have a high hardware failure rate. All the other manufacturers rushed to compete, and reliability and features are lacking. I tried a wifi router from TP Link, Netgear, and Asus. They were all garbage in one way another. The TP Link (BE19000) was great until it just died, couldn't hold a signal after 2 months. The Netgear(RS600 and rest of RS line) forces you into a paid DNS service if you want to run a VPN on it, the Asus RT-BE92U has a horrendous UI and firmware that crashed it daily as well as micro connection drops regularly. Definitely get your own router. Saves you $10 a month and the coverage within your house should improve. I've got a Netgear Nighthawk RS90 and it's worked great.
I've got the RS90. It's a dual band Wi-Fi 7 router. I'm running 500 mbps at my house. It's worked great. There are nicer and newer Nighthawk routers out there, like you said you just have to look at one that fits your needs.
You're welcome! So I researched it quite a bit and almost every Nighthawk router I looked up is compatible with Spectrum modems. I've got Spectrum service too. Once you set up your new router, you just have to take your Spectrum router to a Spectrum store or UPS store (probably better to do), and then you start saving the $10 a month you were paying before to rent Spectrum's router. Totally worth it!
Netgear Nighthawk routers are solid. I've got an RS90 model.
Second this. I've got a Netgear Nighthawk router too and have been very happy with it.
I'm using a Netgear Nighthawk router and have been happy with it.
Netgear Nighthawk routers have worked well for me.
You can get a much cheaper router that can do 2.5G. So would say its overkill for even 2Gig. Also what features? It does not really have any features other than its hardware. Software on Netgear is pretty barebones.
I have the netgear nighthawk RS90. Was like $120 at Walmart and works great with my 1200 sqft house. I have my ps5 wired to it and my wireless devices get anywhere from 500 mbps in the furthest end of the house to 1 gbps in the same room as the router.
I just moved from Canada to the US and got spectrum Internet as it’s the only thing available in my area. I decided to buy a Netgear Nighthawk RS90 that’s on sale at Amazon for $99. It’s a wifi 7 dual band router and works well (mind you I only have 5 devices connected and 7 when me and my girlfriend are home). Also comes with an app!
I bought a nighthawk RS90
Not an expert but sharing my very recent experience. I had an old nighthawk Netgear router from 2018 that started to act up, so I got a newer WiFi 7 router from Netgear (RS90) and it was even worse than the old one. After hours on the phone with tech support they couldn’t do much, so I returned it and went with a TP-Link WiFi 6 mesh (Deco X55 AX3000) and it has been working great.
The RS600 is the only router on that list that has 6ghz and faster than 1g wan/lan ports, there are cheaper options available.
Not everyone wants to shell out $500 for a wifi-7 nighthawk though. Seems redundant when the one provided for free runs the same frequencies and allows full wifi control with 250 simultaneous devices compared to nighthawks 50 devices.
