Sounds like a user mis-configuration issue here. The 850 series is a solid system. If it's not deployed well or not configured well, then ya, Orbi or any other brand MESH will not work well. I had my 850 series online a short time ago. r/orbi • Is TP Link a good replacement for Orbi? ->I'd try to get a wifi 6 mesh system, 2 piece (1 to main router + satelitte). I had similar wifi issues in my townhouse and once I got the mesh I've been enjoying 300mbps in every room and it eliminated all my dead spots. Sooooo worth it. I use an Orbi but would have maybe preferred the Eero (Amazon) for it's smaller physical footprint.

Orbi, Eero, Tp link 3 pack prolly around $400 to start I had Orbi wifi 6 (3 pack) for years and it’s been rock solid for a family of 4. I went to wifi 7 and wow the speeds are insane. Would recommend at least wifi 6. Don’t worry about your devices.

If you want something simpler but still powerful, the TP-Link Archer AXE75 is also a solid standalone router with strong coverage and fast speeds.

Obviously they work best when these mesh points are connected with a cable back haul, however they work well with wifi backhaul as well. If money is no object then the Orbi mesh system is the best which provide you with the best speeds around. The TP Link Deco mesh systems also provide good speeds at a much lower cost, so that would be my go to. All of these mesh systems are managed via an app that you can download on your phone or tablet.
