I was just having the same problems. Tried the old pods and they didn’t do anything, wouldn’t even stay connected more than ten minutes at a time. Just happened to be retuning the pods when I overheard a salesman talking about the new 7 extenders. I was told there weren’t any new router 7s available a week earlier when they sent me the 6e instead. Luckily they had both in stock that day. My biggest issue was a camera in the back yard that always had issues and a low RSSI of 67. It’s on the extender now and the RSSI dropped to 52. Other things around the house jumped to the extender as well. Only “issue” I’ve noticed is occasional lag when using my phone to access my laptop.
Be patient with it. I was annoyed the first night and ready to return it when only a couple devices in my bedroom connected to it, and the camera in question didn’t even though the extender is 12 feet from the camera. Little by little the camera and other things started switching over to it. I think it might be pretty close to 50/50 whats connected to the router and the extender. Still debating trying to snake the cable wire through the office/living room wall so the router is more centralized, not sure how it’ll react being near the tv and multiple game consoles though, but this is good enough for now.
i just upgraded to Spectrum 1GB intrnet and ordered their 6E router. It sucks, doesn't swith bands or have that option, can't customise and make your own WiFis. My 10 year old ASUS RT-ac3000 is performing better in terms of range and speed and farther range. I'm keeping my ASUS for now.
Only one SSID and the router picks if its 2Ghz or 5Ghz. Router is decided based on speed tier or other services(mobile seems up the guidelines at least one point). But all current ones just broadcast 1 SSID. But there are 4 types current, Wifi 5, Wifi 6, Wifi 6e and Wifi 7. To be honest, they probably wouldn't utilize the technologies in the 6e or 7.
They should send you either 6e or 7 with no issues at gig speeds.

That's funny. I'm out of stock of 7s and have to use 6 or 6e. The 7 sux, btw.
From what I can tell out in the field. The disconnects are because of a faulty WAN. While the inconsistent wired speeds come from the LAN. Of course, it isn't with every one of them. But I definitely seen more issues with the wifi7 than I have with any other routers recently. Personal I believe the best router Spectrum offers is the wave2/wifi5 followed by the 6e, 6, then 7. With that said, I still recommend people buy their own router or mesh system. I prefer to use my own purchased system. Rather than any of the "free routers" I can get from the company.

I had both routers a day apart... The speed test showed they max out at identical speeds.. The manager at the local Spectrum store told me the reason the system keep sending me the 6E version instead of a 7 is because I didn't at first opt for a Spectrum mobile line. Seems to be a internal requirement.
wifi 6 I believe has gig capable ethernet ports but I believe will cap out around 800 or so over wifi, but realistically you should have our 6e or 7 router to get gig over wifi these are the routers you should have for your plan according to spectrum. (i am a field tech). wifi 7 is by far spectrums best router so if you can ideally get this you should.
Yep! just need the right router and device, if your phone can connect to wifi 6e you can get the gig on it
Got that exact router on clearance for 19 bucks, works great for what it is
I had the opposite experience - the TP Link 802.11AX router has a weaker signal than the Spectrum 802.11AX router. In fact it performs similar to my decade old 802.11AC router. Barely reaches the master bedroom, where the Roku now gets a “Fair” connection instead of “good” or “excellent”, and my cellphone now drops connection sometimes
The spectrum 802.11ax router actually worked better (stronger signal) than my tp link 802.11ax router
