1. Per [this TP-Link page](https://www.tp-link.com/in/home-networking/wifi-router/tl-wr845n/#specifications), it does. Log into the device and check the settings. Access point mode is not "better", it's a function (if your router supports it) that is needed when you want to use a second router in your network to *only* provide wifi. In your case, you already have a router so any other router would need to be in access point mode. 2. That's sort of overkill. Just make one network, have both your phone and PC on that one network and transfer files between them.

I currently have 2 TPlink N300 acting as a bridge between the barn and the house at my father in laws house. Had about 5 years. 428 feet. Minor hiccups sometimes but nothing major. We have considered other options but this works good enough. I use these repeaters too to spread access around my property (mesh wasn’t an option when I first setup) and works well for my needs, mainly having easy streaming when mowing or in my tree stand since cell service can be spotty here. You lose some bandwidth using these repeaters but depending on the use case it may not matter.

I personally use the TP-Link N300 - I did a video explaining how it's connected a while ago; it's at around 12 mins: [https://youtu.be/gcn4zq-MaMI?si=yem-Qf4F6qhX26ku&t=720](https://youtu.be/gcn4zq-MaMI?si=yem-Qf4F6qhX26ku&t=720)
