Idk about telling me the direction but you still get decent surrounding awareness. It dampens the sound and has a “protection” mode that dampens more and a “enhancement” mode that amplifies general noises but still decreases the db of shots

Oh ok i gotcha. You get a better sense of direction with the enhanced mode but drains batteries quicker is the only downside. The other mode still gives you a decent sense but blocks out more noise

I use the Axil Xcor. They work as intended.

IMO sub 250 acceptable solution doesn't exist... I've tried Axils that a lot of guntubers shill but returned them as they're terrible imo. If you can bump up your budget to high 300's, Otto Noisebarriers.

Very uncomfortable and poor sound suppression. Their CS is good however, had a no hassle 30 day return so there's that. The Ottos are just an entirely different level especially with Comply foam tips. I wear them all day at matches and have to remember to take them off. Excellent sound suppression and can hear convo level talk crystal clear. If you haven't tried them, I highly advise you give em a try, you'll see what I mean.

I use Axils…no where near as good as traditional over the ear gels, but fine for shooting trap or upland,
