Looking for advice on a new set of earbuds for gym. I have an iPhone 16. I tried AirPods pro but they are too glossy and there is something with the design that makes them fall off too easily. Currently using AirPods 4 and they stay in place but the noise cancelling is too weak for the noise in the gym so I have to bump up the volume too much. At home I use b&w pi8 and they seem to stay very well in my ears. They have a rubber coating not only on the tips but also on the speaker casing so I think I need something like that. Stem or not don’t matter but I don’t want the speaker unit to be too large because it will fall out. I have jabra elite 85t but they are too big and slippery. But the sound is fine and transparency ok. I also have bang olufsen e8 sport which has good sound and ok anc but way too big for my ears. I would prefer if the call quality didn’t suck and on the AirPods 4 it seems ok for my needs.

Their sports buds were so greatly designed that built in touchpads got activated by hair while running. Do they care? Not at all. It’s a f-in feature and I’m using it wrong. Only HX earphones are decent and sound okish. I also have Beolab 50 for the looks but the got cheap speakers inside and you really can’t hide it behind any amount of dsp. Avoid just like Rimowa. Expensive brands with no real life product liability.

AirPods Pro 3 and I honestly don’t think it’s close. In addition to the hearing aid feature, they seamlessly migrate across Apple devices (phone, laptop, appleTV). This may not matter if he’s not in the Apple ecosystem. I won some free B&O Beoplay airbuds and had high hopes for them. Sound quality was on par with my AirPods, but they are less comfortable, less compatible and poorly designed in comparison (bulky case, awkward shape).

Let me give a +1 for the Technics. I have Pixel Buds Pro, B&O, Shure SE535, and the Az100. The only 2 I still use are the Technics and Shure, and the Technics are likely 98% of the time. The excellent battery life, charging speed, and sound quality are just really hard to beat.
