Yeah I was digging the sound of Baseus xc1, at first. Super clear, but then I noticed that even on low volume they were distorting pianos. Also they seemed to have connectivity issues. I sent them back yesterday, actually. Was a tough decision but I kept comparing them with the opendots and the dots just do it for me. I also have the Soundcore aerofit 2 and love those for calls. So excited for the openfit pro though! I'll try the Bose if I find them heavily discounted hahaha
Yeah, I feel the same. Open ear buds are honestly the most comfortable ones I’ve ever used. Once you put them on, it’s easy to forget they’re even there. I’m using the baseus XC1 now. I actually find it more comfortable than the earhook style since it has less contact with my ears.
It’s a clip style called Baseus XC1. Volume is fine for me. My route isn’t very loud so around forty to fifty percent works. I can hear music and still hear cars.
Before open ear buds I had the same issues as you. A friend recommended the baseus xc1 and I’ve been using it since. It’s a clip-on style earbud that doesn’t go into your ear and lets your ears breathe. I wear it about 6 to 8 hrs a day for work, walking, and exercise and it’s totally fine.
I just got the Baseus XC1s. The sound quality is amazing. They are so comfortable. The bass is incredible and they have both Dolby surround and Bose audio. Plus you can heavily customize the EQ.
Love my XC1s sound so close to my in ear buds but are so much more comfortable. The bass is incredible as is the overall sound. I am impressed. I am still deciding whether I like LDAC mode or using the EQ and Dolby audio more.
Just got the XC1s and the Sound is incredible. You quickly forget that you have them on. They are the most comfortable ear buds I’ve ever used. Glad I went with them. Also the bass is nice for open ear buds.
They have a nice EQ in the app. I haven’t taken a call on them yet. The only down side is that you can’t use the EQ or Dolby audio when using them in LDAC mode, but that is the case with most earbuds that support LDAC. They sound great either way. For a lot of the music you can’t tell the difference between the LDAC and the normal audio mode. Plus LDAC is sketchy on my Pixel 10 Pro XL. I’m going to play with the EQ more today, I haven’t tried any custom settings yet. It has a lot of adjustments that you can make. I have just been using the Bose default so far.
Just got the Baseus XC1s they are so comfortable that you forget that you have them on and the sound is incredible for open ear buds. I can wear them cycling and still hear my surroundings or wear them in the waiting room while at my doctor’s appointments.
Bass is great for open ear buds.
I bought the Baseus XC. They are comfortable but too loud for me at the minimum volume.
I have the Baseus Xc1 and i'll probably return. The low volume is too loud! I have to use an extra app just to make it lower. I can't even move it up one tick from the lowest. Same on iPad and Android. Is that the case with the Shokz? Is the lowest volume pretty quiet?
I stopped trusting him when he said Baseus XC1 had phenomenal bass and sound. He was paid for the review by Baseus. He said the were the best open air, but in subsequent videos he says open dots are. Shame. I had to return the, as they were super cheap feeling and sounded like crap.
Maybe. How they feel though is extremely cheap. That didn't change. The app is also Chinese junk with poorly translated English. That didn't change either.
Thank you for this post. Recently just got a pair and they're horribly buggy (Constant disconnects, static-y audio, horrible audio lag), so I likely have a faulty pair and was deciding between a refund or a replacement. I'll get a replacement and see how they fair.
After getting my 2nd replacement for poor connection, I have to return these and I cannot recommend them. Repeatedly with 2 units I would have the same pauses and disconnects when simply having the phone in my pants pocket. (Side pocket not the back) Not to mention I didn't even have Dolby Atmos or LDAC turned on and I'd still have disconnects when going out for my walk.
If your budget is around 100, check out the Baseus XC1. It is on sale right now. Really comfy for long sessions. I wear it for my morning runs and it never falls off.
Bass is pretty full but the whole sound feels balanced. I like it a lot. The mids and highs have more detail than most open ear stuff I tried.
I’ve had the OpenRun for a while and still use it for outdoor runs. Now I’m looking for something with ANC for indoor workouts. I don’t want the over earphones since I sweat a lot and they’d be too hot. I just want something that stays secure during exercise. Mostly I’ll use them with my iPhone, sometimes with my PC. Budget under $200. Any recs? thanks!
Haha, absolutely love earclip earbuds. Just got my XC1 yesterday as well - so far I've been very pleased with them for the price.
Lol yeah I've been rocking my Shockz OpenDots for a few months. I always reach for them first in the morning, then when the battery is drained (about 5-6 hours later), I switch to my Aeroclips. Question for you - at max volume, do you notice a 'warble' sound to the bass notes on the OpenDots when it hits a low bass note? I only notice this issue at max volume. But at 50% or lower volumes, no warble - the sound quality is sufficient for my daily use around the office. I'm still trying to figure out if this warbling of the bass note is due to the bass driver clipping as the driver is bottoming out (doubtful based on the sound I'm hearing), or is it some sort of signal processing - maybe the software is trying to compensate somehow for higher volumes with limited travel on the drivers? My new Baesus XC1 (tuned by Bose, with LDAC protocols) are scheduled for delivery Wednesday (literally brand new earbuds, I preordered a month ago lol). I'm anxious to see how they will stack up against the Shockz OpenDots.
Yeah, when you enable EQ and other features, the max volume tends to get reduced slightly (to help compensate for pushing up the EQ bands on some frequencies). I know it's quite controversial, but I'm more of a purist - I leave all extra EQ's and sound enhancements disabled. I prefer to enjoy the speakers as they were built and tuned, which is why I think I'm going to like the Baesus XC1 because they are tuned by Bose's engineers (and I've been rocking Bose earbuds in the gym for years, so I know what to expect)
So I have mixed feelings about the XC1. I find the fit is a bit more 'loose' than other earclips I've handled. Not that it's going to fall off on their own, but I have them slide off my ears when trying to hit the physical button. That said performance wise they're pretty good. Bass is good enough at lower volumes, LDAC is a nice feature (if not a bit confusing to enable, took me a few tries to actually figure out that I had to enable LDAC in the bluetooth settings for the earbuds in addition to enabling in the Basesus app). My issue that I've experienced is that at max volume, the total power output seems to go quiet when the bass is hitting hard. When it's higher frequency notes, the sound is nice and loud, but as soon as the bass drops, it seems like the software turns down the volume slightly to compensate and protect the drivers or something. Either way that is VERY annoying and I haven't found a way to fix that. In my experience, I enjoy my Shockz OpenDots sound quality and volume, except those earclips do not have LDAC, and at max volume instead of turning down the volume the DSP adds some sort of "warble" to the bass and I can't figure out if it is intentional or simply a byproduct of the design for the low driver fluttering as it's bottoming out? I dunno So basically I love both my XC1 and Shockz OpenDots One at medium volumes. For bicycling outdoors when I need louder volumes, I think I'm going to stick with the OpenDots and deal with that annoying warble. But yeah, at max volume - I'm not "wowed" by these XC1 earclips. However given that I paid $109, I think it was a fair price for what you're getting
Dude same boat - from the time I wake up until the time I go to bed, I almost always have a pair of earclip earbuds in my ears hahaha. I rock the Shockz OpenDots One when I want loud music (or for making calls). And I have a set of Baesus XC1 that I wear because they have LDAC, but max volume is not as loud as I'd want, and call quality is not as good as the Shockz OpenDots One. So in the mornings I start with the Baesus XC1 at low volume to enjoy the LDAC protocols. Then when their batteries die, I switch over the the Shockz, then back again when their batteries die haha. I am still looking for something "better", SOOOO tempted to buy the Bose Ultra Open since I hear they have better sound quality, but since they don't have LDAC I'm a bit leery since I have a feeling something better will come out soon enough.
Love my XC1, first earclips I've owned with LDAC capabilities. They are nice earclips, although they are the "loosest" fitting of all the pairs I've handled which is interesting. At low volumes the sound quality is excellent. However my issue with them is max volume. At least with LDAC when enjoying max volume, I notice that when there are loud bass notes the volume on the earbuds drops down a few decibels. It's almost like some software is protecting the earbuds from clipping and damaging the drivers but it is EXTREMELY annoying. I have experienced this a few times over the years from a few brands. My other biggest complaint is that 'max' volume really isn't anywhere near as loud as most other earclips I've handled over the past year. And I've handled nearly a dozen this year so far!
With most all earclip style earbuds I've handled, at max volume my partner can hear me from at least a meter away - clearly hearing the music. So be sure to avoid max volume if you're concerned about that
Right now the Shockz OpenDots One are my favorite clip. I had a set of Soundcore Aeroclips that weren't bad, but I bought the Baesus XC1 because they have LDAC and didn't need three sets of earclips. The Baesus XC1 aren't bad, but I loathe that the software seems to attenuate max volume when the bass notes hit hard (likely to protect the drivers from bottoming out causing more damage). So the max volume on the XC1 is honestly too low for some of my needs (like cycling outdoors where I get lots of wind noise). Lately I rotate between the Shockz OpenFit Pro and OpenDots. I'm tempted to buy the Bose Ultra Open because I hear they have awesome sound quality, but the call quality is lackluster compared to the Shockz OpenDots apparently so right now I'm waiting to see what else hits the market. I also got the JBL Endurance Zone earhooks which aren't bad, but the sound quality isn't as nice as the OpenFit Pro
Yeah, I'm not too impressed with the XC1 so I'll probably sell them in the near future. I would avoid Bose unless you can get them direct from an authorized retailer when they're on sale (currently the best price I've seen was around $199). There are LOTS of people selling them on ebay for around $100 which are actually knockoff products and not actually true Bose products (happens often with bose - which is why lots of people say they're garbage, because they bought a knockoff product and thought it was the real deal). The only way to confirm you have an actual Bose earbud is to try to connect it to the bose app - knockoffs don't show up in the Bose app.
>I am trying to find wireless in-ear earbuds that will stay securely in my ear Earclip style earbuds. Some examples include: * Bose Open Ultra * Shockz OpenDots One * Soundcore Aeroclips * Baesus XC1 These are open-ear earclip style earbuds but I have NEVER found a more comfortable style earbud that I can wear all day long. Yes, sound quality is not perfect, but dang they are comfortable and never fall off due to the shape/style. As far as in-ear earbuds go, I vote for the Bose Queitcomfort Ultra or Quietcomfort Ultra gen2 earbuds - they have wingtips that help lock into the ears (better than the Bose Quietcomfort Gen2 that you linked to in your post). But personally, I only use my Bose Quietcomfort Ultra earbuds when flying for the ANC needs. For my daily use, I start the morning with the Baesus XC1 at low volumes, and then for workouts and cycling, I switch over to my Shockz OpenDots One. I basically wear my earclip earbuds 10+ hours daily because I can enjoy music AND hear the world around me - having conversations with people, and going about my day-to-day activities while still hearing the world around me. More than once I've been so comfortable wearing my earbuds that when the music is paused I'll try to put on a different set of earclips only to realize I'm still wearing a pair hahaha (yes, I literally can't feel them on my ears and forget I'm wearing them sometimes). My only wish is that they were more aesthetically pleasing - the Soundcore Aeroclips with silver bands were the most 'sexy' style out of the bunch but they were still quite boring. I wish the bands were more visually appealing - because I would love more of a 'statement piece' from my earclips
I’ve got an open-ear pair too, the Baseus XC1. I’ve tried walking in the park at around 60% volume and there’s basically no sound leak. Unless someone’s right next to your face, they won’t hear a thing.
