My AZ-100s have no brightness at all in the upper frequency range; all voices and instruments lack overtones and therefore sound artificial and lifeless, while the bass is too emphasized. Only with extreme EQ settings did the sound become tolerable, but never really good. However, I found the soundstage and resolution to be quite good. I've heard from friends that the Nothing Ear are supposed to be very good in this price range, but I can't get used to the stick design at all. My recommendation for neutral sound and excellent natural reproduction are the Amiron 300 from Beyerdynamic. These are the most balanced and comfortable wireless in-ear headphones I have ever tested, but powerful bass is not their strong point.

Unfortunately, my last purchase, the Technics EAH-AZ100, was quite a disappointment. They offered good (but overemphasized) bass, a wide soundstage, and fine resolution, but they sounded somewhat sterile and boring because they lacked sparkle in the highs, which made almost all music sound lifeless in comparison. I received the Sennheiser MTW 4 as a replacement for the defective MTW 3, but apart from the comfort and ease of use, I'm not really impressed. They don't sound bad, but they have a very distinctive sound signature that doesn't suit all music. Until now, my favorite sound by far was the calibrated Perl Pro from Denon, but now they have actually been dethroned by the Amiron 300. For the first time in a long time, I got goosebumps or was moved to tears when listening to some of my favorites, from classical to rock/pop to trance. At first, it's a little strange that you can hardly feel the Amiron 300 in your ears. No pressure, no weight, the silicone tips are very soft with thin walls – you could almost forget you're wearing them. When the buds fit well in your ears, they deliver incredible detail, a wide soundstage with perfect depth and positioning of the instruments, yet still create a feeling of intimacy, as if you were inside the music or the artist were performing right in front of you. The bass is balanced and precise, not overemphasized, and goes down deep enough. The mids are incredibly fine and detailed, with vocals and melodic instruments clearly separated and reproduced in a present but not overemphasized manner. The highs are also very finely resolved and give all instruments and voices that certain sparkle in the overtones, which is what makes them so lively and authentic. (In other words, exactly what the AZ-100 lacks). I have been an active musician for over 30 years and have a small recording studio at home, so I can judge sound and mix quite objectively. For me, the Amiron 300 are the most balanced and best-sounding wireless in-ear headphones I have ever heard. If the mix doesn't sound good, it's because of the production or poor playback quality. They are certainly not for everyone, but anyone who really wants to and is able to enjoy music attentively and in detail should give them a try. Excessive bassheads or those who only use one earbud can safely move on, as can techies who care about the latest fancy features such as 3D audio, etc. The ANC is okay, even good in transparency mode, voice clarity during phone calls is very good, and the adaptability of the touch controls is more than sufficient. The Beyerdynamic Amiron 300 are a real insider tip for true music lovers, regardless of genre.

There's a huge difference between lots of bass and good bass, the only tws buds with an ultra tight bass that is good for music where 90% of the focus is the bass are the Fokus rex 5 with the EQ curve setting emphasizing the low end, the B&O beoplay Ex/11, the B&W Pi8, and the Beyerdynamic Amiron 300, I extremely recommend the Amiron 300 since it has Beyer's distinct V curve that makes it excellent for bass focused music and the anc is actually not bad at all. I think you'd be disappointed with the xm5/6 since the 5 has a tighter bass than the 4 but there's a lot less of it at the same time, and the same goes from the 5 to the 6, 6 is way tighter, but again way less of it than the 5

That sounds like the difference between tight bass and amount of bass. I can't imagine literally anyone needing more bass than the Amiron 300, unless what they specifically want IS the loose boomy flubby bass, the signature beats by dre sound. I own the Pi7 S2 and have around 20 hours of testing the pi8, the 7 S2 is exactly that, looser flubbier bass, not more of it, the pi8 sounds like it has less bass because it's a tight controlled bass, not boomy bass that bleeds everywhere

Beyerdynamic Amiron 300 for best neutral sound, battery life with ANC and wearing comfort. Denon Perl Pro as good allrounder and strong bass, if they fit your ears. AZ-100 were a big disappointment for my old ears, veiled highs, sterile sound, but good bass and separation and Technics has the best control app.
