I'll warn you that these aren't great for a noisy environment. I'm returning a pair I bought the other day to replace some ancient earbuds that I used for work around the house. The other day when I went to mow my grandparents' lawn, I discovered that the sound isolation is pretty terrible and I couldn't hear a thing over the lawn mower. Ironically, I picked up a pair of these CMF earbuds to try out as a replacement, which should be arriving in a couple of hours. Also, I thought the Jlab earbuds sounded like crap. They were fine for podcasts - which is what I'm usually listening to while working - but music just sounded bad.
**CMF Buds 2a** at $28 best deal
Probably JLab, JVC, Anker, Tozo... many "decent" earbud makers in that price range. In fact, I just bought CMF (the budget division of Nothing) Buds 2a for $28. Even has ANC (technically, hybrid noise cancellation).

I bought the CMF Buds 2a earlier this year and… these might be the new budget kings. For $29, you’re getting features that usually don’t show up until the $50–$70 range. Design & Fit Super lightweight, comfy stem-style buds with the same CMF aesthetic as the rest of the lineup. The orange version looks sick in person. ⸻ Battery Life • ~5.5 hours with ANC on • Up to 35.5 hours total with the case • 10 minutes of charging = 5.5 hours playback Real talk: for daily commute + gym use, these easily last. ⸻ ANC & Transparency The ANC is legit for this price — knocks out low rumbles (bus/AC/engine noise) surprisingly well. Doesn’t erase everything, but enough to make music feel front and center. Transparency mode sounds natural and clear, good for conversations or walking outside. Switching modes is immediate through tap-and-hold or the Nothing X app. ⸻ Nothing X App This is where they feel “premium.” • Full control remapping • ANC/Transparency toggles • Dual-device connectivity • Game mode • Dirac-tuned EQ presets + Custom EQ If you’re on a Nothing/CMF phone, you also get ChatGPT voice integration straight from the earbuds. ⸻ Touch Controls Responsive and customizable: • Double tap: skip forward • Triple tap: skip back • Tap & hold: ANC/Transparency • Double tap + hold: volume Volume control on earbuds at this price is rare. ⸻ Sound Quality The 12.4mm bio-fibre + TPU driver hits way above its class. • Bass: tight and punchy, not muddy • Mids: vocals are smooth and forward • Treble: clean without harshness • Soundstage: wider than expected with good imaging Using tracks from my Lows, Mids, & Highs playlist, everything from Kendrick’s “FEEL.” to Dire Straits’ “Sultans of Swing (Live)” came through with clarity and detail. Overall signature is slightly warm, musical, and really enjoyable across genres. ⸻ The Bottom Line For $29, these are kind of ridiculous. You’re getting: ✔️ Solid ANC ✔️ Great sound for the price ✔️ Dirac tuning ✔️ Full app support ✔️ Dual connection ✔️ Natural transparency ✔️ Legit battery life If you want budget earbuds that don’t feel budget, the CMF Buds 2a are an easy recommendation.
These are actually my favorite on the go earbuds bar none. great sound, great app, noise canceling works well. they can stand up to constantly being banged in a pocket or purse and the charge lasts forever. My only complaint would be, and this is really being nitpicky, sometimes it can be hard to tell which earbud is which when u put them back into the case.
yep. I have both the original release ones and the 2a.
1.6 years with CMF still going good
I used the Pixel Buds A series for a couple years and they were okay. I recently bought the CMF Buds 2a for $30 and the sound is surprisingly better, battery lasts longer, and it has a nice custom equalizer, and ANC
