Based on 1 year's data from Feb 25, 2026 How it works
This is my setup. ISOTunes Free plugs, with Howard Leight Leightning L3 muffs over the top.
I’ve had two pairs of [IsoTunes Free](https://isotunes.com/products/isotunes-free-2) ear buds. They have a 25 NRR rating, and battery lasts a good while. The first set the case quit charging after like 3 years, the 2nd set I ran through the laundry in the case. The case still charges, so I just use the 1st set in the 2nd case.
I'm using the isotunes free 2.0s currently. Before that I had two pairs of the JBL Endurance Peaks. Both have their pros and cons to me The JBLs are less comfortable to wear underneath hearing protection like overhead muffs which is what I do a lot. The isotunes are lower profile and fit under muffs more comfortably. The isotunes also offer more sound blocking by themselves. The isotunes touch controls are way more fiddly and worse than the JBLs. Both pairs of the JBLs I had eventually lost their ability to hold a charge. Both pairs pretty much become unusable not long after the charge started noticeably decreasing, so that would be the sign to get a new pair. That happens to every battery ear bud I guess, but the isotunes have held their charge capacity longer. The isotunes case can also be annoying, if the buds don't sit in perfectly they continue to connect.
I use ISOtunes Free 2.0, I've used them for new construction and service. I also use their Calibur model when I go shooting. I've got 3 pairs, one of which is the same from 6 years ago.
Isotunes free are decent, had a pair for three years and still going. Excellent noise reduction as ear defenders. Also good bluetooth function.
I use the IsoTunes 2.0 construction earbuds. They're great, going strong for 2 years now.
No food, drinks, or combustibles in the DH for us. In the office I use a Thermo Flask I got at Costco years ago. I liked the IsoTunes 2.0 until they sort of broke. The rubber ear cup makes a good seal and does not absorb sweat like the cloth and leader ones I've had in the past. I also got issued Honeywell branded ones but the audio is terrible on it. The audio on the IsoTunes is pretty bad too now that I remember, but it was better than the other one's I've had.
I also use isotunes 2. I tried bone conducting but the sound quality was bad. Isotunes protect hearing, sound good, and last 2 shifts off one charge.
I was using the Isotunes 2.0 but now I'm on their Advanced BT 2.0. They have a pass-through feature which is pretty nice since people keep bugging me at work and it can actually enhance your hearing. They do have magnets inside the ends, but it's not an issue as long as I don't drop them and they have a clip to make sure that doesn't happen.
I love my iso tunes earbuds, they have passive noise cancelling I don't know if that is something you need. I've put them through the washing machine several times and they still work great for me
My Jabras are great - they’re expensive but I’ve had them for…18 months? Maybe two years?I can’t do over the ear because the cord rubs when I’m wearing glasses. I liked the isotunes buds but the batteries kept dying mid-afternoon and it drove me crazy. The 3M work tunes are great too but they make me sweaty haha
