The filtering is not only not that great, but the fact that it isn’t/can’t be programmed to stop for specific phrases like hey or your name is.. very rudimentary. The audio quality is actually just so bad..
I believe ISOtunes makes these for Milwaukee & Festool. I had a pair that died, but it was my fault as I put them through the wash like an idiot. They make a good quality product, and I love them.

Did you ever try the ISOtunes FREE Aware? I had a pair for 2-3 years that died, and I had to finish out mowing the lawn at home using another set of regular noise cancelation earbuds. I'm curious how these Milwaukees match up to the ISOtunes FREE Aware, since I want another set of bluetooth earplugs that can also switch in/out of allowing surrounding noise for conversations.
I use the isotunes free aware earbuds. They're proper hearing protection, plus passthrough for voices, and BT audio. A bit spendy but well worth it. Wear them almost every day.
[Isotunes aware](https://isotunes.com/products/isotunes-free-aware) are hearing protection and sound pretty good too. They have an aware feature which allows you to hear ambient sound up to 85db and shuts off the mic above that. I also have the Link Aware ear muffs which I like too.
I second the isotunes. I’ve had several since their first iteration, and they’ve all performed well. Like all battery powered devices, they eventually get to where they won’t hold a charge, but all of mine have lasted over a year with daily use, except for one. The one that I had issues with was easily replaced for free by the company, so I can say from experience that they have solid customer support and a good warranty.
There are some other recommendations here that do not actually provide hearing protection. “Noise cancelling” does not equal “hearing protection.” Make sure that whatever you buy has some kind of certification for hearing protection.
