I like the nothing ear (a) they’re better than AirPods in my opinion, only $100 so I’m not too worried about if I damage them or lose them. Noise canceling is good enough for me.

If you can splurge out a little more $$, go for the Nothing Ear (2024). Sounds amazing, infinite customization with EQ, ANC is pretty decent tbh only struggles in some harsh edge cases (like most sub-200 USD earbuds). But between the two, I'd lean towards the Nothing Ear (a). It sounds really really good even though some people say ANC is only passable.

I bought these couple of days ago - I decided to go with them because I really liked the yellow colour option and I bet heavily on nothing as a brand. My previous headphones were more than twice as expensive over-ear Sony WH-XB910 that I got pretty used to, despite not loving their sound. I also have the legendary AKG K550 Mk 1. Sound-wise I am pretty disappointed with Ear (a). The trebles (especially the hi hats in hip-hop) are not only way too pronounced, but also sound super sandy. They literally hurt my ears. I am also not loving the EQ - I know that the more premium 'advanced' EQ is reserved for the more premium headphones, but the option to adjust only either bass, mids or trebbles is way too simplistic. I guess I will have to resort to third party apps, which sucksApart from that I love the design. The call quality is far superior to Sony. The connectivity with Nothing Phone 2a is great. The controls have a slightly steep learning curve, but you get to master them in around one day. Battery life is pretty wack coming from my over-ears, but I guess that's the case for pretty all in-ears. The integration with chat-gpt is a nice touch, especially for a huge Stanley Kubrick fan

I purchased the Nothing Ear (a) for work in the summer of 2024. These earbuds were very impressive at first but started to have issues soon after purchasing, with more problems as of late. The first issue I encountered is that the right earbud will randomly read a single touch pausing and starting music and ending calls. There is no pattern to the earbud randomly reading a touch. It happens in different situations and often several times in rapid succession. Customer support sent several potential issues and resolutions, but none worked. updated firmware, increased size of the earbuds, and reset the earbud and case. The issue still occurs, and there is no resolution other than sending them back for repair. Recently, the earbuds have been disconnecting from my phone. No pattern or reason I can detect. Their sound is great, they are quick to charge, comfortable, and a good price at $100 USD. However, I won't purchase again or recommend these earbuds, given the ongoing issues and difficulty dealing with Nothing's customer service.

Nothing Ear 2024 for 85 is a great price. It's a great earbud. Sound quality is good once you turn off bass boost. ANC is good but not as versatile as galaxy buds 2 pro (only other one I've tried). It doesn't block out wind as well. But the buds 2 pro were super uncomfortable for me

Thanks for this review! I just bought a pair of these off Amazon on sale for £79 and agree with a lot of what you said. I turned the bass enhance off and decided that a flat EQ on the 3 band EQ sounded best to me. I bought these for running and they are comfortable and they’ll stay in. The stem controls work very well too. They are loud. I’m playing them on 40% volume and they’re already starting to distort. These could get very loud! The noise cancelling seems really good too for the price. I’m really happy with these! I didn’t really have big expectations about these but the reviews seem to either suggest these or the Sony WF-C700N. I opted for these because a lot of reviews said they were comfy and the noise cancelling was good. I agree with both of those points. I think they look cool too (I got the white ones)

They’re holding up really well. The battery is good, I only have to charge the case every couple of weeks. I find them more comfortable and they stay in as good as the AirPods Pro. the build quality is really good on these too. (I used to have AirPods Pro 2, but I had nothing but sound issues with them) I think you’d be really happy with these as an alternative to AirPods. They are very similar in terms of sound and quality. The only thing the AirPods had that these don’t is the Spatial Audio. Although it sounded impressive, in my opinion it’s not a must have feature.

Definitely in ear. On ear and over ear are gonna contribute to head sweat and stink up quickly. Airpods or Beats fit pro are the go to if you’re on iPhone. If you’re on Android then you have many, many options. Nothing Ear(a) and cmf buds pro 2 are great budget options. Galaxy Buds pro 3 (or 2 if you wanna save a buck) are good also. It really does come down to ear canal size and shape. You just need something with a good fit. Sound quality doesn’t matter too much to me when I’m working out. Buy using Amazon prime and take advantage of their lenient return policy. Just try them in your ears really quick, then box them back up if they aren’t immediately comfortable. Hope some of that helped ✌️🤘

That’s because the Nothing 2 are old, lol. They have a bunged up naming scheme. They first released the Nothing Ear, then the nothing ear 2 soon after. Then they released the Nothing Ear 2024 and the Nothing Ear(a) both last year. Both are upgrades over the first 2. The Nothing Ear(a) is meant to be there current budget set, but they are basically as good as the Nothing Ear 2024. It’s very confusing, lol. Watch some YouTube vids on the ear(a) and ear 2024 versions.

I recently got the Nothings and I mostly like them but I have one complaint that may be a dealbreaker for many. First the pros: good sound, good bass, good app, good aesthetics at a reasonable price. And, the pinch controls prevent accidental triggering of the controls when you adjust the buds in your ears or turn your head to the side when lying down and the bud contacts the pillow. Now, the cons: they went with a proprietary eartip design - they are rectangular in shape, rather than round. This strikes me as likely to cause a problem for some people to reliably get a good fit/tight seal, but this is not exactly my issue. My issue is that I have large earholes (I realize that term sounds gross but have no idea what the actual term is) and always swap my earbud tips out for larger ones to get a good seal and proper bass. Even though the Nothing eartip posts are ALSO rectangular (and IMO, this is plain stupid - they should have used a more standard round post, that’s not specific to their proprietary rectangular tips, so any third-party tip would easily go on) I was still able to get other third-party round tips onto the rectangular posts. **BUT** \- larger tips, don’t fit in the case (it can’t close properly). They made the case with such small space tolerances that many larger third-party tips won’t fit, so if you like to use those, you may be out of luck. IMO their focus on aesthetics can cause an unnecessary problem for some here.

I am an Apple guy too. After my AirPod Pros died on me, I got a pair of nothing ear (a). The ANC is very good but the transparency mode not so much. I use them to listen to music or podcasts while mowing the lawn for example, and they’re great for that. Plus half the price of APP. I recently picked up Shokz open, fit 2 that are outside the ear. These are great for running or riding my bike. They don’t move although it takes a little time to get used to have something that’s not in your ear.

I bought the [Nothing Ear (a)](https://www.amazon.com/Nothing-Ear-Integration-Cancelling-Equaliser/dp/B0CXPR5412?ie=UTF8&th=1&linkCode=ll1&tag=mymy011-20&linkId=0ee525ed289562bb7882b35af717713f&language=en_US&ref_=as_li_ss_tl) earbuds for my Galaxy S24 Ultra for about 91 bucks after cutting up some coupons and gotta say, they hold up pretty well against the AirPods Pro. They're seriously an awesome deal for the price. Sound-wise, they're pretty spot on compared to AirPods Pro 2nd Gen, maybe not 100% as good, but close enough that you won’t even notice most of the time unless you’re super picky. Now, heads up for the audiophiles: these might not be your dream headphones. But for regular folks, they’re sleek and sound clean enough for everyday use. Bonus points for the universal support for in-ear detection and the app. Nothing X app is beautiful and intuitive, with killer EQ settings. Tons of features like dual connection and low latency mode too. For battery, I've been using them for like 45-60 minutes a day during my workout sessions, and they genuinely lasted me a good 10 days before I had to juice up the case.  Downsides? The ANC is solid, but the transparency mode? Not so much. Tried to swap them for my AirPods but still in love with Apple’s transparency. Next, chatgpt integration sounds cool but is kinda a bust unless you have a Nothing Phone. Didn’t work on my Galaxy S24 or iPhone 15, which was a bummer.

Oh sure, I had them a little less than a month, but I am more than pleased. I personally think they fit much better, like more stable. The case set up for me is a lot better as well. I mostly listen at work (podcasts, youtube, and some music) and I can set the case by my keyboard and I can just grab a bud or put one back super quick. They aren't quite as adjustable with the app, but they are plenty adjustible for my needs. I don't know if they do spacial audio, but I'm not a huge fan of that anyway. The noise canceling works totally fine and is adjustible as well. Transpancy mode seems the same as the airpods. I think the overall sound quality is touch better. The app lets you connect to two devices at once for seemless swirching and so far definitely works better than the airpods. I have iphone, ipad, macbook, and apple watch, plus use PC at home and work and no issues with any of my devices. In my opinion, for the $99 price point (currently $79 at Nothing, lol, I promise I don't work for them) I could not be happier. Just my two cents, but hopefully it was helpful!

To get started - I've been using AirPods Pro over the last 3.5 years and decided to try something else to see if it's comparable. I've had an amazing experience so far, but there are a few things that are not so good and I'll go over everything. **Case 4/10** - Really disappointing. While I do enjoy the look of the case and minimalism of it, trying to open the case is an insanely hard and precise task. The "can't open it with one hand" would be easy to pass over, but sometimes I struggle to open it with two hands. There is nothing (hah) to grip onto, it's slippery and doesn't have an indent which would make it easy to open. Plastic is holding good for now, no marks or anything else. The earbuds stay firm in place and it doesn't take too long to charge. **Earbuds 9/10** - The earbuds on it's own are quite amazing. Great build quality, amazing design (got them in White), great size and amazing fit. As someone who generally struggles with earbuds staying in their ears and actually being comfortable, these are top notch. The Airpods Pro are a bit lighter, but the Ear's have a slightly better shape. They are really comfortable, snug and the matt finish of the bud is amazing. **Sound 10/10** - Straight up. They sound a lot better than my AirPods Pro. The sound stage is much wider, bass is clearer and tighter. All in all - they are really good sounding **ESPECIALLY** for the price tag. I do have to say that AirPods Pro with Spatial Audio do sound slightly better. But without, not even close. Really amazing what they managed to cram into such a low price tag - huge props. **Battery 8/10** - Honestly, I get around 5.5-6 hours with ANC (on High if that makes any difference) which is actually better than my AirPods Pro. I don't understand who can complain about this battery life, or who has their earphones showed into your ears more than that, at a time (which is not healthy for your ears!). You can probably find 10-20 minutes during the day to pop them into the case and be good to go for a few more hours, so yeah. No complaints here. **ANC 9/10** - Impressive. Works amazing. Not quite as good as the AirPods Pro, but really close. It does cut out the traffic quite well and you don't get the thumping sound in your ears while walking. It does not cut out conversation so much which is weird. Sometimes I think I'm on transparency (which is abysmal), and have a conversation in the office, only to try and toggle ANC on and it turns out I was on ANC all the time. **Transparency** **0/10** - Really bad, it's the same as if you had everything on off. Feels like it doesn't do anything really. I gotta say that next to the AirPods Pro (which have an insane transparency mode), everything can seem bad at times, but this is next level. They really need to sort this out with software if possible. **Microphone 9/10** - As someone who is in a lot of meetings and calls during the day, the microphone's are reeeeealllyyy good. Very good job, hopefully they can use that to improve Transparency. Really clear sounding, nothing to complain about. **Auto-switching 8/10** - I know that they don't have that, they have multipoint connection. It's actually quite good. This has been a must feature for me to go over these full-time. As someone who is in an Apple Ecosystem (Apple TV, MacBook Pro, Apple Watch, iPhone), the AirPods Pro switched seamlessly through my devices without a problem and it's an amazing feature. It's a shame that Nothing Ear (a) can only be connected to 2 devices at all times. But that works good, switching from my phone to my laptop is seamless, you just have to **STOP** playing audio on the device you want to switch from. I've also read that they sometimes connect to another device if it get's a notification, but I cannot attest to that, as my devices are always on mute (hence - Apple Watch). All in all, these are amazing, they do have areas to improve, of course. But I do hold myself to a high standard when it comes to devices and I'm really happy with them. For 99% of the people this are the freaking best buy for under $100 USD. Don't even think about it, they really are THAT good and hard to beat. Thanks, Nothing.

Huawei freebuds 6i probably have the best mics in that range (freebuds pro 3 is probably more expensive, but they have the best mics) but if he has android it’s a bit cumbersome to install the app for adjusting settings since it’s not in the play store. Otherwise Nothing ear (a) and Oneplus buds 3 are pretty good for calls in that range and are overall good buds, but almost all wireless earbuds severely struggle in very noisy and windy conditions.

Yes. I got them Yesterday. Sound is amazing - Compared to my latest buds, the Linkbuds S, it's way more Bass and overall way more quality of the music. More Soul, more feelings, better in every way. Not so mechanic like the Linkbuds. The touch/press haptic is very good but something I have to get used to in some days of usage. I don't use Anc at all. The transparency mode just works. Oh, they have way more comfort then the linkbuds. I am very happy with them. I considered ordering the pro model but I don't see any benefit there for me. I don't do wireless charging and I don't need the detailed equalizer customisation which comes with them.

# Why even review bluetooth in-ears from an audiophile standpoint? I haven't felt the need for wireless in ears for a long time, but as I was enjoying the freedom of my bluetooth Grado's a bit more than usual, especially as I was working more with my notebook / on the go, I thought I might give bluetooth in-ears a chance. I wouldn't consider myself a strict audiophile, but I'm using a couple of good and well known headphones like the HD 6XX, Focal Elegia and Grados (controversial, yes). Furthermore, I've always liked IEMs and they kinda got me started with this hobby. I'm certain that even people who use proper audiophile headphones at home can enjoy the convenience of bluetooth in-ears sometimes too. Listening to my first ever in-ear monitors now, the KZ ZSN Pro, is a terrible experience in my (subjective - as sound quality always is subjective) opinion - Extremely bright and bassy at the same time with the worst mids and timbre you can possibly achieve. Yet, they are still being recommended a lot, probably as you will "notice" more detail at the expense of listening pleasure. My Truthear's, Etymotics and Letsshuoers are a better **comparison** point here. [Nothing's design is simply stunning for a tech enjoyer](https://preview.redd.it/ewq94rya28yc1.jpg?width=2016&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=66e292f58bf3835ff133123832890176e8eeaa4b) # How are they like to use? Let's get to the non-sound related stuff first, as that is almost entirely **positive** overall. The buds and the case feel **super high-quality**, no creaking, no bending or use of cheap materials. The magnets are strong and the case makes a **satisfying "SNAP"** sound when closing, just like Airpods do. Only thing to criticize here is that some of the seams feel a bit sharp and not properly sanded off. **Connectivity is great**, they pair instantly, work across devices (only when configuring them in the app, the multi-device connection drops for some reason). Bluetooth range is incredible, doesn't matter where I go to in my house, the connection doesn't drop (that is a different story with my Grados, they aren't bad either though). Speaking of the **App**, it's very intuitive and feels quite **polished** with **beautiful animations** and fast pairing. I can't comment on battery life yet, but if the claims by nothing stand true, it should be fine. There is a charging indicator and you get precise battery stats on the device that is using them. **Transparency** **mode** is honestly **better** than **expected**. It doesn't sound completely natural, like high tones are amplified more, but it for sure works well. I can hear others clearly and can hear myself speak too. Especially for talking over the earbuds, it sounds 90% natural. I haven't tested **Noise** **Cancelling** in loud environments yet. The effect "feels" strong, but **certain** **sounds** don't get **cancelled** out well or maybe even at all. Noise Cancelling wasn't a big priority for me, but I'm pretty sure that other earbuds are better at that. It's good to note though that the **sound** **quality** **doesn't** **change** when **switching between modes** (pretty much at all). There is also minimal hiss when using the highest setting, but all other settings (including the adaptive one) don't have that problem. Even with the low latency mode, latency isn't great and I wouldn't use them for competitive gaming. Why would you use bluetooth headphones for competitive gaming though? In terms of **comfort** I have to say, that they are rather comfortable but some of my IEMs certainly fill out my ear a bit better. The tips feel durable, but could be a bit softer and unfortunately have a proprietary design. The stem is easy to reach for and these controls work reliably (and are customizable). The **case** is also **really small,** a bit smaller than an airpods case even and just looks neat. [The case is very small and feels premium with a good snap](https://preview.redd.it/aeyvlosh28yc1.jpg?width=2016&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=00688b5218a8e8e347822a4552f74095669199dc) # Sound Quality The first thing I immediately noticed regarding the sound, is that the **bass enhance feature** is **complete overkill.** The stock tuning is already pretty bassy, I would say around 2-3 db more than neutral. I immediately disabled that, though it's good to know that it doesn't throw off the tonality of the earbuds, and "just" makes the bass less detailed (but also absurdly impactful). **Bass:** The bass, even without the bass enhance feature, is a bit **overemphasized** in my opinion. It is decently controlled and goes pretty low, with bass enhance enabled, they can compete with skullcandy crushers lol. My recommendation to Nothing would be to make the stock tuning a bit less bass-focused, as the bass enhance feature is enabled by default anyway. That would make it more useful for dialing in the bass. Bass clarity is better than expected, but definitely not amazing. It sounds slightly processed overall, but still high-quality. There aren't too many variations in the bass, my 6XX or Letsshuoer Galileos can definitely achieve more granularity there. The good thing is however, that the bass doesn't cover up the mids too much and is well tuned in that regard. Especially with E-Guitars and other instruments that live in the lower areas, the bass is deep, intense and you can really feel it, it definitely moves some air. Kickdrums can sound a bit too dark / muffled though. It reminded me a lot of the bass of the Airpods Max, if you have ever tried those. Compared to my other headphones, these are like an 7.5/10 and around 85% of what the Galileos deliver - though, if you are more of a basshead, these can easily be a 10 and they are defo fun to use. **Mids:** Mids are pretty well tuned overall. Voices sound natural, full bodied, maybe a bit dark. The best way to describe them would be as them being "**smooth**". In combination with the bass, it's definitely a likeable sound that will appeal to most people. I honestly can't complain about the Mids too much, but they could be a bit more emphasized in the higher areas. You can definitely listen to Taylor Swift, Birdy or Billie Eilish, but they sound a bit too quiet and "far away". On the flip side, these voices still sound rather natural in terms of tonality. Male vocals definitely suit these headphones better and sound more full and true to life. I liked the timbre and natural tuning of the mids overall, would give them an 8.5/10. They are definitely not as good as the 6XX by a long shot, but for wireless in-ears, I really like to see a tuning that isn't too v-shaped and skimps out on the mids. **Highs:** If you are treble-sensitive, these are headphones for you lol. The treble definitely **isn't airy** or sparkly, but it is rather **precise** and not overwhelming. I listened to Lindsey Stirling (Violin - classical / dubstep) and it was rather enjoyable, but the instruments sounded a bit muted - as if you would listen through a cloth (for the highs only, they still sounded moderately detailed). I'd rate the highs a 6.5/10. **Technical abilities:** I dislike the term "technicalities" - as Resolve said it, it's all frequency response lol. "Faster" driver materials for such small drivers aren't really a thing or make an insignificant difference. However, I use this section to talk about detail retrieval, imaging and soundstage and didn't find a better general term. Speaking of **details**, these headphones are pretty **okay**. They are not as detailed as the Sennheisers or Letsshuoers and **you can "overwhelm" them** with certain tracks. I listened to Sand by Dove Cameron and the multiple voices in the background were rather perceptible as noises rather than full bodied vocals. With most **Hip-Hop and Pop** songs however, they sound **rather crisp** and you don't feel like you are missing out. If you are listening to a song, were most instruments sit in the lower frequencies, they can however drown in the bass a bit. That is fortunately not the case for the mids. Dialing down the bass a bit in the EQ definitely helps, but throws off the tonality a bit. **Imaging** with these is surprisingly **good**. It's a 5-blob sound, if you get what I mean. Certain sounds are even more precise than that. Songs that play with the stereo imaging a bit (such as the "sparkling" sound surrounding you in Daft Punk's Within) sound awesome with these and they can handle that quite well. Not as well as my Galileos, but 90% there. The **soundstage** is rather small, but in combination with the good imaging, it feels **big** **enough**. It feels like there is a small stage inside of your head with **around 40cm of perceived width**. Some sounds stick out more and can surprise you, but overall it is just fine. I wouldn't say my other IEMs are a lot better at that though and the size of the stage is similar in size compared to the 6XX who are known for their rather narrow stage (for over-ears). They can go insanely loud, which I find is rather a negative as it makes dialing in the right loudness level a bit more difficult. [The earbud - the right one has a red dot, the left one a black dot](https://preview.redd.it/l3zw0w7l28yc1.jpg?width=1512&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=fdacb4088eee5fc465ec35b2af5cacb2f76db57f) # Conclusion: For 100$, these are a a really **good choice**, especially if you like Nothing's Design. They sound good enough and have a very likeable tuning that sounds quite musical. If you need versatile ANC that can recognize all sorts of annoying sounds, these are probably **not the best pick**. Same goes for people who want a more treble-centric tuning, as they definitely lean on the bassy side. They are detailed enough for mainstream music , but not for classical titles, and have surprisingly good imaging capabilities and decent transparency mode.

They are pretty comfortable, had them in my ears for like 7h yeaterday😬 I‘m an iPhone user and the App is very good and you can switch between noise cancelling, transparency and off using the stem controls so it‘s also fine without the app. I haven‘t tried the oneplus buds pro unfortunately

I love my tws 4's for listening to music around the house or at lunch at work but i could just never get these to be comfortable enough for daily commutes or walking around earbuds even though the sound is incredible. I've actually found myself using my galaxy buds 3 pro for daily usage because they are just so dang comfortable and work great with my s23. The sound isnt quiiiiiite what the sennheisers can do but i'll trade the sound for the much better comfort and the million miles better microphone for phone calls. Outside of the buds 3 pro Ive found myself rotating between my sony xm5s and my nothing ears quite a bit lately. The bass on the nothings is fantastic and i really like the sound they can push out with heavier faster music like deathcore, gabber, hard techno and such. On days when i'm feeling more chill the sonys will have a bigger 'fuller' sound.

I have those but the latency is too high for me. Tried it once and then went back to my cabled in ears.
