"the sound quality is not all it's chalked up to be - they have a pretty bad eq in the 15k hz range and aboveand the stereo profile doesn't feel very wide."

"way too flat for my liking. ... clear but flat. ... I mainly got mine for the gym and listen to the harder styles and metal."
"But in this case, I would not recommend the MTW4 ... They are more neutral and well-balanced. Due to their tuning, classic rock era records (which are mixed and mastered much differently than mainstream records) sound phenomenal, with more forward and present mids, and a less prominent sub and mid bass region."
"they are just not that powerful in bass in higher volumes."
You need momentum 4 earbuds or devialet Gemini 2 or noble rex5. Best earbuds ever made IMHO
r/headphones • B&O Beoplay Eleven - such a disappointment ->I’ve had a few gens of the momentum buds including This one, most tend to be buggy and die for random reasons but while they work they’re great! I still have my momentum 2’s and they go hard, both 3 and 4 had battery issues in one bud. You CAN crack them open and replace the battery pretty cheap but honestly I just send em back for a refund get my money back 9 - 15 months later
r/Earbuds • Best earbuds I’ve ever used! ->I had the AZ100's for 3 months before they stopped charging. Support was non existent. I'm now using the Senn MW 4, they're really nice, I'm loving the ANC, and the Mic is great for calls. Good price on Amazon Prime right now.
r/Earbuds • Tomorrow I'm buying one of these. Which one should I choose? ->So I bought the momentum 4/Xm5/BD amron 300/az 100/JBL tour live 3. Eventually went with the Rex 5 but thats a different story. Out of those five I had the JBLs as my favorite. By far actually. I still use them for the gym cause water resistance...
r/Earbuds • Best true wireless earbuds atm ->I ordered all the popular buds (momentum 4, AZ100, Amron300, XM5, Tour 3) and for me the JBL (SURPRISINGLY) won by far actually. Also really liked the beyern but the bass sucked ass.
r/Earbuds • What is currently the best “all-rounder” premium earbud under $300USD? ->The momentum were nice, but way too flat for my liking. They had a very natural sound, clear but flat. I mainly got mine for the gym and listen to the harder styles and metal.
r/Earbuds • What is currently the best “all-rounder” premium earbud under $300USD? ->Having kind of a different experience myself with owning CX plus that stopped working and then i bought the Air Pods Pro 2 before going to Momentum 4. Honestly i expected more. The sound quality is good, but i think it could be better, while saying the ANC is spot on is a joke for a pair that costs 200 euros. I have had Xiaomi Buds 3 with the same ANC and we all know how much they cost. For me it was kind of a let down. I loved my CX plus and could say they were the best earphones i used and expected the momentum 4 to be next level in everything and sadly for me they are just not.
r/Earbuds • Best earbuds I’ve ever used! ->Yes, it is a game changer, but maybe i had too high expectations. Momentum 4 is the highest class of TWS earphones and for me they just deliver that
r/Earbuds • Best earbuds I’ve ever used! ->So i am on an Iphone and have owned both in the last year. The momentum 4 TWS are my current headphones and to be honest I expected more. After the Airpods Pro 2 i thought that the MTW4 would be miles ahead but in some aspects they are worse. For me, even with sound personalization the sounds in both is on par and i actually prefer the Pro 2, connectivity is a game changer if you’re using iphone, and honestly the ANC on Pro 2 is miles ahead. I have owned CX Plus before and loved them until one headphone died on me, that is why i excepted so much of the momentum 4, and they kind of disappointed me. It sounds like they could be better and you think being the companies TWS flagman they would be top of the line in every aspect, but for me they aren’t.
r/sennheiser • For those that use Apple Music how good are sennheiser headphones compared to AirPods ->I think they sound pretty bad compared to most buds...call me biased, but I actually prefer the JBL tuning for music and I tried a few, including the Momentum 3 & 4... I got them for $100 sealed so...it's okay. Interestingly, despite being smaller are less comfortable to sleep with and fall out of my ears quicker than the PBP1... I also find that when sweat...they tend to slide out of my ears. Haven't found yet the perfect buds. What I appreciate the most: -transparency ( seems that nobody is challenging this) - case ( wished more manufacturers would make a case as small as this and as well balanced and shaped... But again...sound quality... pretty bad, sorry...
r/GooglePixel • Pixel Buds Pro 2- Unbiased review from someone who's used many earbuds. ->*Sennheiser Momentum 3/4 with Sound Personalization - this is the important part - the Sound Personalization option because it puts the customizable EQ to shame. I've been rotating between these (the 3s) and my Liberty 3 Pro strictly for music. Although they're dated at this point, the Liberty 3 Pro are still at the very top of my list for music. Their bass, soundstage, and separation are a step above anything else I've tried, but the Sennheiser has better clarity. What Sennheiser was able to do with only 7mm drivers is nothing short of amazing.
r/Earbuds • Best mid range Earbuds BETTER than AirPod Pro 2 ->Unless you're already using it, you should definitely try the Sound Personalization setting. It brings these buds to life like nothing I've tried before. I usually always stay away from anything that isn't the customizable EQ, but just for the Sennheiser Momentum 3/4, it's a completely different ballgame. I keep mine set around 5 o'clock and about 1/8th of an inch away from the edge. Give it a shot. I guarantee you will NOT be disappointed.
r/Earbuds • Best earbuds I’ve ever used! ->I almost didn't bother because with every other set of earbuds I've tried these settings with, it's always been more of a gimmick, but with the Sennheiser, it was truly a night-and-day difference.
r/Earbuds • Best earbuds I’ve ever used! ->The samsung, i guess, if you also have a Samsung phone, are OK I have the momentum 4, and for my use case ( i listen to a lot of electronic music ) SQ is very good , very dynamic. Great ANC , good transparency, although they pick wind noise a lot . Great controls and battery life.Connection sometimes is finicky, though. The best overall IMHO I would say is the AZ100, but they wouldn't stay in my ears. After listening to these going back to the AZ80, it felt like half of the music was missing , especially in the mids, but fit security of the fit and comfort much better. My biggest disappointment, though, the Status Pro X. Although the 2 knowles BAs make an excellent job in clarity , speed , detail , the DD is truly disappointing. They have great subbass extension down to 10 hz, I think, but bass and subbass completely lacks in resolution and texture. The subbass also is not as well controlled as you would expect. I haven't tested the bose and the B&W. My favourite earbuds are the Denon Perl Pro .
r/Earbuds • Tomorrow I'm buying one of these. Which one should I choose? ->I've had the momentum 4 wireless earbuds for about a semester in college now, and one of them has completely stopped working. Looked it up, apparently the right earbud is notorious for just ceasing functionality at random. My friend had the same issue before I had bought them and had assumed it to be a fluke or that he had damaged them, but it turns out it's a big issue I have to recommend against them for that reason. I also have to say, the sound quality is not all it's chalked up to be - they have a pretty bad eq in the 15k hz range and aboveand the stereo profile doesn't feel very wide. They definitely sound really good overall though and I didn't really have any complaints once I got used to them, but still they get way too much credit in my opinion. I had bought them after my airpods pro 2s had finally stopped working after a couple years, and was kind of disappointed off the bat as I find the airpods to have a much cleaner sound profile, as well as extremely better noise cancellation and passthrough, and a more comfortable fit in my ears. After adding a small eq to my airpods I was even able to use them to mix and master some of my music while I was out of the country, and while obviously it's not as good as studio headphones, I have tried several times with the momentums and it's considerably harder due to the uneven frequency response. Can't speak to the sony or galaxy earbuds, but at least can recommend against the sennheisers and would honestly recommend you look into airpods, even if you don't have apple devices.
r/HeadphoneAdvice • I want to know what are the best earbuds right now, as simple as that. ->My ranking (pictured [here](https://imgur.com/a/tws-ranking-left-to-right-MBqgKk5)) based on sound quality, battery life, app, and features: MTW4 (w/ Sound Personalization) > Technics AZ100/AZ80 > Denon Perl Pro (w/ AAT) > B&W Pi8 > Devialet Gemini II > Sony XM5 > APP2 > Bose QC Ultra Sound quality isn't an empirical measurement. It will be based on preference. Most TWS within a certain price range aren't going to suffer from "qualitative" issues and will all perform well, but will be tuned very differently from one another. Recency bias also plays a major role in recommendations within the community, so keep that in mind. MTW4 with SP was the best balance of tuning, battery life, features, and user experience for me, and is my typical go-to. I'm also a fan of rock/metal and hip hop, thus a set like the AZ100, which excels in many other areas -- including battery life and ANC -- and beats the MTW4 in some genres, gets ranked lower as the timbre and tonality in genres with high gain guitars is lacking. It's as if Technics applied a high shelf filter and rounded off the treble, which diminishes some of the dynamics and energy/attack of guitar-based tracks. AZ80 is better in this regard, but a downgrade in ANC and battery life. The Perl Pro sound stellar with AAT, but AAT can be hit or miss for some and is very tip dependent. AAT *should* be used in conjunction with EQ to get the most out of the Perl Pros -- something many users miss, as AAT is correction, not intended as a replacement EQ -- and I'd recommend looking at alternative tips like the Dunu S&S, Divinus Velvet, Spinfit Omni/Neo, etc. B&W Pi8 sounds very good, but is a bit too neutral for my tastes. It was also plagued with connectivity issues. I replaced my original unit, and had the same problems, so that set is rarely used. I know a lot of users that swear by this set, but it was not near the top of my list even without considering the connectivity issues. EQ could not fix my issues with the tuning; in some cases, it introduced sibilance. Outside of ANC, the Bose QC Ultra is at the bottom of my list. And to be fair, that list is much larger than what was pictured above as I have tested dozens of TWS sets. The tuning of the Bose is just not for me, but I know other hobbyists that swear by it. The ANC is world class, however. One of the few sets I quickly returned as I had no interest in keeping it around, even to collect dust. TLDR; this is very subjective, and I wouldn't recommend basing your buying decision on one user or reviewer's opinion unless you know your preferences align -- and even then, you may be disappointed with the results. If sound quality is your one and only goal, there are better options. Even the best TWS in my rotation will rarely beat out a dedicated IEM, running on something like the Q5k, iFi Go Pods, or the FiiO UTWS5 -- the former and the latter both have access to EQ. Unless I need ANC or TWS features, this is what I use the majority of the time.
r/Earbuds • Which earbuds for the best sound - Technics, Sennheiser or Bose? ->Sound: Sennheiser's Momentum lineup, Denon Perl Pros, Technics AZ80/AZ100, and B&W Pi8, in that order (taking into account Sound Personalization and AAT are being used). Everything else on the market, from the typical brands, falls below that line -- APP2, XM5, Bose QC Ultra, etc. Longevity, having tested dozens of these sets, the AirPods Pros are likely to outlast most of the other brands (my first and second gens are still charging well without any discernible issues). I've had battery and charging issues with the XM4s and XM5s, Sennheiser's MTW3 (MTW4 hasn't been on the market long enough to know whether there are any battery longevity issues); Denon is already showing serious battery degradation issues; Technics are in the charging issue camp as well (one or both earbuds often do not charge and need to be reseated often, similar to the Sony's); Pi8 has intermittent connectivity issues. The list goes on. There are outliers like the JLAB Epic Lab Edition, which have excellent battery life and seem to hold up well over time. Surprisingly, these are some of the best sounding and longest lasting buds on the market, for sometimes half the price of competitors. It can't compete with the top brands on tuning, but it gets damn close for the price. At some point, chasing sound quality (and longevity) begs the question, should you just sacrifice wireless connectivity and choose a traditional IEM? Despite owning most of the current premium earbud lineup, I find myself recommending and often daily driving the Epic Labs -- just due to the convenience of the battery life alone. And if that battery starts to degrade, there's enough overhead where I could still potentially get a good amount of time out of them before the issues are untenable.
