Yeah I was digging the sound of Baseus xc1, at first. Super clear, but then I noticed that even on low volume they were distorting pianos. Also they seemed to have connectivity issues. I sent them back yesterday, actually. Was a tough decision but I kept comparing them with the opendots and the dots just do it for me. I also have the Soundcore aerofit 2 and love those for calls. So excited for the openfit pro though! I'll try the Bose if I find them heavily discounted hahaha

I don't know how the pro compares to the previous openfit's but the sound quality is exceptional. I'm tired of trying to find eartips that work for my ears, so these have been great for me. The noise reduction is a nice to have, but I also agree that it's very gimmicky.

I believe it to be minimal. I have not had anyone complain, but I also never set my music too loud.

I just got the shokz open fit pro. The battery life is absolutely fantastic. They are the over the ear kind super comfortable, though. I wear them all day for meetings and such. I also use them for a trail running outdoor outdoors. They’ve been totally great so far. No complaints on the call quality during meetings on teams either.

If your concern is letting in ambient noise, you're going to get that with the openfit pro. These are more for those seeking something similar to an open-ear headphone, when you want to hear the ambient sound around you and if someone speaks to you at a normal volume you're not struggling to hear them. They have noise cancelling but not anything like an in-ear because these essentially sit on your ear rather than in your ear. For what you described I would not get them. I'd suggest these are more for a trail runner, or outdoor exerciser who wants to be aware of their surroundings but also have quality sound that isn't drowned out by the surroundings. For me I wanted something to use in my garage tinkering as well as when splitting wood, in-ear never fit me correctly and wouldn't stay in when doing more intensive activities like swinging a maul. These fit those tasks perfect, but I also wear them at work and can hear everyone and everything around me without having to pause or take them out of my ear. I highly recommend them, but not for what you described.

Heck yeah. I wear mine often. Recently scored a pair of Shockz OpenFit Pro (brand new just came out earlier this month) and they're slightly different (ear hook design) but they're insane - louder and better sound quality than my OpenDots - almost to the point they tickle my ears when the bass hits at higher volumes. Coolest thing is they added a noise-cancelling function to them. It's not perfect, but it helps reduce some engine noise and fan noise while still remaining 'open ear' so you can hear important noises like people talking and such. I switch between my OpenFit Pro and OpenDots all day long - both have the best sound quality of any open-ear product I've owned so far

Right now the Shockz OpenDots One are my favorite clip. I had a set of Soundcore Aeroclips that weren't bad, but I bought the Baesus XC1 because they have LDAC and didn't need three sets of earclips. The Baesus XC1 aren't bad, but I loathe that the software seems to attenuate max volume when the bass notes hit hard (likely to protect the drivers from bottoming out causing more damage). So the max volume on the XC1 is honestly too low for some of my needs (like cycling outdoors where I get lots of wind noise). Lately I rotate between the Shockz OpenFit Pro and OpenDots. I'm tempted to buy the Bose Ultra Open because I hear they have awesome sound quality, but the call quality is lackluster compared to the Shockz OpenDots apparently so right now I'm waiting to see what else hits the market. I also got the JBL Endurance Zone earhooks which aren't bad, but the sound quality isn't as nice as the OpenFit Pro

I would probably vote for either the Soundcore Aeroclips (the white with silver band is a beautiful accent piece, one of the better styles I've seen besides Bose Ultra open). If you need louder and better quality, my next vote would be the Shockz OpenDots One which are out of your budget, but you might be able to scoop them up on sale or on ebay. I have the Baesus XC1 inspire clips, and the LDAC is nice, but overall I'm not too thrilled with them. The firmware has some sort of driver protection protocol that attenuates the volume about 15% lower when you're listening to bass-heavy songs. It's crazy how much louder they are when you're listing to certain songs that don't have lots of low-end, then as soon as the bass hits, the entire volume (not just the bass) gets about 15% more quiet until the bass stops playing, then a second later they get louder again. I've experienced this on a handful of earbuds (all cheaper models) and it bugs the hell out of me! Having an acoustical engineering background, I understand this is a failsafe to protect the speaker from blowing out the voicecoil of the driver due to excessive wear at higher volume - better earbuds have better (sometimes thicker) materials to resist wear at these higher volumes. I sold my Aeroclips when I got the XC1 clips (because I had the Shockz already and only need two good pairs for a full day of streaming music). And honestly I wish I had just returned the XC1 clips - they're not bad, but they're only worth about $75 in my personal opinion (compared to other generic clips I've tested over the past year). Right now the top ear clips would be either the Shockz OpenDots One, or the Bose Ultra Open and I have been desperately looking for something even more premium. I was very disappointed by CES this year - very few earbuds and earclips of any noteworthiness were reported. The Shockz OpenFit Pro and the JBL Endurance Zone earclips were basically two of the only exciting open-ear releases of CES 2026. (Someone please correct me if you have anything better than the OpenDots or Ultra Open - I'd love to 'hear' what else I'm missing!)

Agree that Bose still has its strengths, but the Openfit Pro battery life and IP rating give it a real edge for daily wear.

For me specifically who cant really use in-ears because of the pressure and sillicone irritates my ear, open ear earphones are the only way for working out without sweating my momentum 4s to death. 250 USD is indeed a bit overpriced but I feel if the soundstage is good and noise "limitation" can be serviceable I would buy one of these for short trips to work, gym etc.

Hey friends! If you’re thinking about open-fit earbuds, OpenFit Pro is the way to go. I just switched to Shokz. I was a Bose user for the past year, but it was time for a change — and everything is better: sound quality, microphones, battery life, and IP rating. The microphones were the main reason I switched. I’m always looking for the best option and have tried almost everything: Bose Open (1st and 2nd gen), Sony “donuts” 🍩, Oladance (regular and Pro), Shokz, and Tazo. So if you’re wondering what to get right now, in my opinion there’s only one real choice on the market.

Bose are perfect! But now it's time to sell them. We'll see, maybe next year I'll find something better. But for now, Shokz Pro are the best ones in this niche.
